Zoravar Sandhu stays close to the leading bunch
With two more rounds of qualification left on Saturday, Zoravar could aspire for a final berth with a strong performance, in a highly competitive field of 183 shooters. In comparison, Lakshay Sheoran (70) and Jaswinder Singh (69) may find it hard to make the cut.
Competing in the RPO section, National champion Shardul Vihan shot 72 out of 75.
In the women's section, Aashima Ahlawat shot 68 out of 74, but it was in the RPO section. Preeti Rajak (66), Neeru (66) and Pragati Dubey (57) were far from the leading pack in a field of 101 shooters.

Shikhar Dhawan Posts Heartfelt Message For Son Zoraver: 'Wish Zora Was Here...'
Last Updated: Shikhar Dhawan has shared an emotional Instagram post about missing his son Zoravar, touching hearts with his heartfelt message. In an emotional post that has moved the internet, former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan shared a heartfelt and personal message about his son Zoravar. He and Aesha Mukerji were married for eight years before going their separate ways. Two years ago, a Delhi court granted Dhawan a divorce on the grounds of mental cruelty by Aesha. Although Dhawan was granted the divorce, he wasn't awarded permanent custody of Zoravar, who resides in Australia with Aesha. As per the judgment, Dhawan is permitted to meet Zoravar in both India and Australia, and can stay in touch through scheduled video calls as well. 'WCL mein jab doston ko apne kids ke saath khelte dekha… bas ek thought aaya, wish Zora was here. It would've been a different kind of joy. Later, I came across some of his childhood photos… and suddenly, all those memories came rushing back. Some moments really do stay closest to the heart. ❤️," Dhawan posted on Instagram on Thursday. These words, simple yet heartfelt, echoed the deep longing and tenderness of a father missing his son. Among the pictures shared, one stood out, a beautiful moment featuring Dhawan with Rohit Sharma, his daughter Samaira and little Zoravar. Though the World Championship of Legends has ended, Dhawan's post has lingered in the hearts of fans long after the final game. Meanwhile, India and Pakistan had been slated to meet in the group stage of the tournament, but the Indian team, featuring Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, refused to play, citing national sentiment after the terror attack and India's subsequent 'Operation Sindoor'. With India pulling out of the semifinal as well, Pakistan advanced to the final. Criticising the tournament's handling of the situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board said, 'The cancellation was not based on cricketing merit but on appeasing a specific nationalistic narrative. This sends an unacceptable message to the international sporting community." First Published: News cricket Shikhar Dhawan Posts Heartfelt Message For Son Zoraver: 'Wish Zora Was Here...' ISSF World Cup: Neeru Dhanda Shines With Fourth-Place Finish In Women's Trap Final
Neeru was eventually eliminated from medal contention after tying with two seasoned shooters—Lada Denisova of the Neutral Athletes (AIN), a previous Nicosia World Cup stage winner, and Italy's Silvana Maria Stanco, the Paris Olympics silver medallist. Due to having a higher bib number, Neeru narrowly missed out on the podium. Australia's Laetisha Scanlan clinched the gold medal with an impressive 45 hits. Earlier in qualification, Neeru posted rounds of 25 and 24 on Saturday, adding to her overnight tally of 66 (21, 23, 22) to reach 115. Iezzi posted the same total, leading to the decisive shoot-off. India's Preeti Rajak also showed strong form with rounds of 23 and 25, improving on her overnight score of 66 (20, 24, 22) to finish at 114—just one point short of the cut for the final, placing her eighth overall. Pragati Dubey finished further behind with a total of 100 (18, 18, 21, 19, 24). Zoravar Misses Final After Shoot-Off in Men's Trap In the men's trap event, veteran shooter Zoravar Singh Sandhu recorded a solid total of 121 (24, 25, 24, 24, 24). However, a five-way shoot-off ensued for the final two qualifying spots, which included at least two former Olympic champions. Zoravar was the first to be eliminated after missing his second shot. Teammates Lakshay Sheoran (24, 22, 24, 23, 23) and Jaswinder Singh (23, 24, 22, 23, 24) both ended with scores of 116 and did not contend for qualification. Trap Mixed Team Event Up Next

Neeru places fourth in Lonato Shotgun World Cup
Neeru Dhanda was a trifle unlucky to miss a medal in women's trap as she was placed fourth in the Shotgun World Cup in Lonato on Saturday. Neeru shot 115 and qualified in sixth place by beating Alessia Iezzi of Italy 2-1 in the shoot-off. After 35 birds in the final, Neeru was tied in the second place with 30, along with the eventual silver and bronze medallists Silvana Stanco of Italy and Lada Denisova, but got eliminated owing to her sixth place in qualification.
