Adani Power to supply 1,500 MW to UP
This is further to the Uttar Pradesh cabinet approving the project earlier this month, a company statement said.
New Delhi, May 10 (PTI) Adani Power on Saturday said it has won a bid to supply 1,500 MW of electricity to Uttar Pradesh from a greenfield ultra-supercritical power plant in the state entailing an investment of USD 2 billion.
According to the statement, Adani Power, India's largest private sector thermal power generator, on Saturday said it has won a tightly contested bid to supply 1,500 MW (net) of thermal power to Uttar Pradesh.
As part of the contract, the company will supply power at a highly competitive tariff of Rs 5.383 per unit from a greenfield 2×800 MW (1500 MW net) ultra-supercritical power plant to be set up under the design, build, finance, own, and operate (DBFOO) model in the state.
'We are happy to have won the competitive bid to supply 1,500 MW power to UP state and feel privileged to play a leading role in meeting the state's rapidly growing power demand. We plan to set up a modern and low emission ultra-supercritical plant in UP and aim to begin supplying reliable and high-quality power by FY30,' Adani Power Chief Executive Officer S B Khyalia said in the statement.
Khyalia said Adani Power would invest USD 2 billion in setting up the plant and related infrastructure.
The project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment of 8,000-9,000 during the construction phase and 2,000 once in operation, as per the statement.
Thermal power demand in UP is seen rising by 11,000 MW by 2033-34 owing to factors like industrialisation, urbanisation, and modernisation.
This 1,500 MW order is part of the government's initiative to meet that future demand.
This is second major PSA bid the company has won in the last one year, after receiving the composite 6,600 MW (1,600 MW thermal and 5,000 MW solar) LoI from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd in September 2024, which subsequently has been converted into a PSA.
Adani Power, a part of the Adani portfolio, has an installed thermal power capacity of 17,510 MW spread across eleven power plants in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu, apart from a 40 MW solar power plant in Gujarat. PTI KKS TRB

SBI Hikes Home Loan Rates By 25 Bps: EMIs To Get Costlier For New Borrowers, Check New Rates
Last Updated: SBI Home Loan Rate Hike: SBI has revised home loan interest rates effective August 1, 2025. This impacts borrowers with higher EMIs. SBI Home Loan Interest Rate Hike: The State Bank of India (SBI) has revised its home and home-related loan interest rates effective from August 1, 2025. As per the report of Economic Times, regular home loans (term loans) will now be available in the range of 7.50% to 8.70%. The bank has raised the upper band of interest rates by 25 basis points. Earlier, SBI's home loan interest rates ranged between 7.50% and 8.45%, but now they stand between 7.50% and 8.70%. This means the lower limit remains unchanged, while the upper limit has been increased. New rates are effective from 1st August 2025. SBI's home loan rate hike came on the heels of RBI's decision to keep the repo rate unchanged at 5.55 per cent in the latest MPC meeting in August. The Max gain overdraft facility will attract interest rates ranging from 7.75% to 8.95%. Top-up loans have become relatively costlier, with rates between 8.00% and 10.75%, and overdraft top-up loans fixed at 8.25% to 9.45%. Loan against property (P-LAP) now comes at 9.20% to 10.75%, whereas reverse mortgage loans are fixed at 10.55%. SBI has also kept the YONO Insta Home Top-Up Loan at 8.35%. The bank has clarified that all home loan rates remain linked to the External Benchmark Lending Rate (EBLR), which currently stands at 8.15%. How SBI's Hike May Impact Borrowers SBI's decision to raise the upper limit of home loan interest rates from 8.45% to 8.70% will directly impact borrowers opting for loans at the higher end of the band. While the lower limit remains unchanged at 7.50%, those whose credit profile or loan category places them near the upper slab will now face slightly higher EMIs and overall repayment burden. Even though the hike is just 25 basis points, the effect over long tenures can be significant. For example, on a Rs 30 lakh loan with a 20-year tenure, the EMI at 8.45% was about Rs 25,830. At the new rate of 8.70%, the EMI rises to Rs 26,278 — a difference of around Rs 450 every month. Over the loan's lifetime, this translates into an additional outgo of more than Rs 1 lakh. Borrowers with larger loans, say Rs 50 lakh or above, will see the impact magnified further. This makes homeownership costlier, especially for new buyers stretching their budgets. A borrower takes a home loan of Rs 30 lakh for 20 years. TN faces trade predicament following US tariffs, Stalin seeks PM's intervention
Chennai, Aug 16 (UNI) Observing that Tamil Nadu's thriving manufacturing sector was facing a never seen before crisis following the 50 per cent import tariffs imposed by US on India, threatening millions of livelihoods across various sectors, Chief Minister M K Stalin today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi's urgent intervention and take all steps to navigate this trade predicament. Pointing out that 31 per cent of exports to US were from Tamil Nadu, he said this higher dependency on the US market clearly implies that tariff impact on Tamil Nadu will be disproportionately greater than for most other Indian states. In a Demi-Official letter to Mr Modi, copies of which were released to the media here, Mr Stalin requested his urgent intervention in this matter, in consultation with the relevant ministries and industry stakeholders and also assured of Tamil Nadu's full cooperation in implementing all necessary measures to navigate this trade predicament. While appreciating the efforts by the Union Government to achieve a mutually beneficial trade agreement between India and the United States of America and fully support India's position to defend national interests, Mr Stalin drew his attention to a matter of considerable concern to Tamil Nadu, as it faces severe implications due to the current 25% tariff and its potential escalation to 50%. He said in the last financial year, while 20% of India's total goods exports of USD 433.6 billion were to the United States, 31% of Tamil Nadu's USD 52.1 billion goods exports went there. "This higher dependency on the US market clearly implies that tariff impact on Tamil Nadu will be disproportionately greater than for most other Indian states", he said, adding, hence this tariff has significant implications for Tamil Nadu's manufacturing sector and employment scenario. The most affected sectors are textiles, apparels, machinery, auto components, gems and jewelry, leather, footwear, marine products and chemicals, the Chief Minister said. Mr Stalin pointed out that what was even more concerning was that all these sectors were labour intensive, wherein any export slowdown will quickly result in mass layoffs. MORE UNI GV 1310
