BJP MLA from Hawa Mahal faces backlash for sitting in SHO's seat
Jaipur: BJP MLA from Hawa Mahal, Balmukundacharya, stirred controversy Sunday, after his photo of sitting in the chair of Ramganj police station SHO went viral on social media. The image, which the legislator posted from his official handle, showed him presiding over a meeting with police personnel. In the caption, Balmukundacharya said he held discussions with SHOs of Ramganj, Galta Gate, and Manak Chowk police stations on ensuring safety of Kanwariyas during the upcoming Kanwar Yatras in the month of Shravan. However, the post sparked criticism, with several senior police officials privately expressing concern over the optics. "It has become a common practice for legislators to sit in the SHO's chair during their visits to police stations," one senior officer said. Another inspector added such practices undermine institutional boundaries. "Would any MLA or MP dare to sit in the chair of an IPS officer? If not, why should inspectors tolerate this?" he said. Congress MLA from Adarsh Nagar, Rafeek Khan, also criticised the photo, posting on X: "What is the BJP MLA trying to prove by authoritatively sitting in the SHO's chair at Ramganj police station? This is not only a breach of protocol but also an overt display of legislative overreach. It sends a troubling message for law and order in the state."

UP's GSDP to reach Rs 29.6L cr in this fiscal
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is projected to reach Rs 29.6 lakh crore in 2024-25. If this happens, the state would have recorded about 80% increase in GSDP compared to 2020-21. This data was revealed by the planning department during a presentation before chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday. The department also showed that in the same period, UP's share in the national economy rose from 8.4% to 8.9%. Calling this a "significant achievement towards a self-reliant UP", Yogi said the govt should aim to increase this share to 10% by 2026. During the assessment of UP's economic status, development infrastructure, and revenue sources, the CM described the state's economic journey as a process of moving "from potential to results". "A clear transformation is visible in the state's economic structure, with continuous growth in the manufacturing and service sectors, while the agriculture-based share is gradually declining. The 'Make in UP' model should form the basis of the industrial strategy for the next decade, encouraging the establishment of new units in rural and semi-urban areas," the CM said. The presentation showed that foodgrain production is estimated to reach 722 lakh tons in 2024-25, which is 100 lakh tons more than in 2020-21. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tabletă Puternică la Preț Incredibil - Oferta Limitată! The CM said this gap should be reduced through technical assistance and farmer awareness campaigns. The state is currently leading in the country in milk production while egg production has also shown improvement. However, the CM said that total production is not sufficient and there is a need to enhance per animal productivity for which regular analysis of data related to breed improvement, feed management, and dairy business should be carried out. Meanwhile, the number of registered factories exceeded 27,000 in 2024-25. Yogi said there is a need to distribute manufacturing evenly across districts to ensure employment for local youth. Export of information technology services from the state also showed an increase. IT services worth Rs 46,800 crore were exported in 2024-25, which is 40% more than in 2021-22, the presentation showed. A similar improvement was seen in service sectors like tourism, hotels, and trade, especially with a gradual increase in visitor numbers in the tourism sector post the Covid-19 pandemic. The CM also reviewed the state's two major revenue sources — GST and excise duty. In 2024-25, UP's GST collection exceeded Rs 1.49 lakh crore, a 6.6% increase compared to the previous year. Revenue from excise reached Rs 52,574 crore, marking an annual increase of about 15%. Calling this a "proof of revenue self-reliance", the CM said that revenue growth should form the basis for service expansion and the extension of social programmes. The CM described the transport sector as "promising" and said new routes for private bus services need to be identified to create a new revenue source for the state. He added that this would generate significant employment opportunities in the transport sector.

Shift anganwadi centres to schools that fell vacant after pairing: CM Yogi
1 2 Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday directed education officials to shift anganwadi centres into buildings that fell vacant after the pairing of schools with low number of students. "This will enhance early childhood education and ensure optimal use of infrastructure," he said while chairing a review meeting with basic education officials. Yogi said schools with more than 50 students should function as independent institutions to strengthen administrative efficiency, accountability and academic oversight. "The pairing system should be implemented with a long-term, inclusive vision. Officials should highlight its benefits for students, teachers and parents through better resource utilisation and improved education quality," he said. Emphasising that the shifting of anganwadi centres should be done in a time-bound manner, leaving no room for negligence, Yogi further directed the school management committees (SMCs), comprising the headteacher and village head, to ensure no child between the ages of 6 and 14 is left out of school education. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal?
