Sarthak Chavan, Savion Sabu top Pro-Stock races
The 18-year-old Sarthak, of Petronas TVS Racing, got past the pole-sitter Rahil Pillarisetty (RACR Castrol Power1) with a brilliant pass at Turn 11 on the last lap after trailing him throughout the six-lap race, the margin of victory being two-hundredths of a second.
Savion (Mad Rabbit Racing), the 17-year-old who started from pole, made it a lights-to-flag win in the Pro-Stock 165-200cc Open class race. He held off experienced rivals, P.M. Soorya (Chandra LGE Racing) and Mohan Babu (Rockers Racing).

The Day 6 of the event witnessed high drams, exceptional performances, and a moment that will be etched in India's sporting history. Following the unprecedented qualification of four Indian surfers to the Quarterfinals yesterday, all eyes were on Mahabalipuram's famed right-hand point break today as the competitions entered the decisive knockout stages. With key heats in the Open Men's Quarterfinals and Semifinals, Open Women's Semifinals, U18 Boys' Quarterfinals, and U18 Girls' Quarterfinals, the day was packed with knockout battles, high-pressure performances, and moments of history in the making. Team India entered the day with three surfers in the Open Men's Quarterfinals and it became a day that will go down in Indian surfing history. India's top Surfer, Ramesh Budihal 14.84 displayed masterful wave selection and composure under pressure in Quarterfinal Heat 1, holding off Neil Sanchez (PHL) – 12.80 to claim the first place. Advancing to the Semi Finals, Ramesh maintained his momentum with a well-timed, high scoring performance that earned him second place in a tense heat, securing a spot in the Final--the first-ever Indian surfer to achieve this milestone at a continental championship. India's Kishore Kumar 10.50 fought hard in Quarterfinal Heat 4, linking committed turns and critical maneuvers. Despite his solid score, he narrowly missed Semifinal qualification behind Eduardo Alciso (PHL) – 12.03. Srikanth D of India – 10.90 brought consistency and flow in Quarterfinal Heat 3, battling closely with Kanoa Heejae (KOR) – 10.94 but missing advancement by a razor-thin margin. Lukewarm outing for Indian women in Asian Surfings Open category
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Chennai, Aug 5 (PTI) Indian women surfers endured a tough outing in the first round of the Open category on the second day of the ASF Asian Surfing Championships here on Tuesday. National champion, Kamali Moorthy posted the highest score by an Indian on the day with a 7.60, followed by Sugar Shanti who scored 4.97 points. Third on the list of Indians was Shrishti Selvam with 4.60 points, as none of them were able to progress to the next round. However, the Indians can look forward to battle again in the repechage rounds on Wednesday. Impressive Indian surfers enter third round of Asian Surfing Championships
Last Updated: Chennai, Aug 4 (PTI) Indian surfers produced a fine effort to advance directly to the Open Men's third round on the opening day of the ASF Asian Surfing Championships 2025 here on Monday. The hosts made a confident display of power surfing through Kishore Kumar 12.17 (Won by an average of 3.77 points ), Srikanth D 13.70 (Won by 1.44) and Ramesh Budihal 12.33 (Won by 4.93). In surfing, a panel of five judges scores each wave ridden by a surfer on a scale of 1 to 10 (with two decimal places). The highest and lowest scores are discarded, and the surfer receives the average of the remaining three scores. A perfect ride is 10 points, and a perfect heat score is 20. Philippines's Neil Sanchez earned the day's highest heat score with a combination of speed, flow, and progressive moves with a staggering 14.00 (Won by 4.13) — to seal his third round place. A total of 16 heats were run in the Open category, with the top two surfers from each heat moving forward, while others will battle again in the repechage rounds.
