37-year-old woman struck and killed in Olathe Thursday night
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One woman is dead after she was hit by a pickup truck in Olathe Thursday night.
According to the Olathe Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of Santa Fe and Blake following reports of a crash involving a pickup truck and a pedestrian around 9:10 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive woman. Officers, the Olathe Fire Department and EMS tried to save the woman's life at the scene. The female victim was later pronounced dead.
The victim was identified as Jill E. Turner, a 37-year-old from Indiana.
Police said they are in contact with the driver of the pickup truck, and the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

While they await the official autopsy results, Gratton's mother says she was always proud of her daughter. She says the news of Jax's body being found brought her peace after weeks of speculation. 'I don't know the circumstances of her death, but I have pride. I'm not ashamed of my daughter,' said Gratton-Camis. While speaking with FOX31 over the phone, pride is the word Gratton-Camis used the most. Pride in both her daughter's ability to excel in her job as a hairdresser, as well as her outspoken nature. 'She educated not only in hair but she educated society,' said Gratton-Camis. Educating people about what Jax spent many years learning herself, according to her mother. 'Just that it's OK to live your own dream and be who you are,' said Gratton-Camis. She noted her pride in Jax's friendly spirit, saying that in her daughter's hairstyling client list were more than 900 people, most of whom were friends. 'To me, that was very impressive, that people had that loyalty for her,' said Gratton-Camis. After her recovery, Gratton-Camis says a detective told her that Jax was found in the clothes she was wearing the night she disappeared. 'And that brought me peace that she wasn't terrified, she wasn't being held hostage, she wasn't doing degrading or demeaning things. Whatever happened, happened that night.' She is thankful for the outpouring of community support over the last nearly two months— 'I could not believe that so many people turned out and from so many different communities,' she said. Gratton-Camis said that even though her daughter is gone, she hopes Jax knows how proud she always was of her. Moped-riding NYC bully rips $1,300 chain off 5-year-old boy's neck: sources
A moped-riding mugger ripped a $1,300 chain off of a 5-year-old boy's neck then sped off on a Bronx street Saturday afternoon, according to cops and law enforcement sources. The unidentified brute drove the two-wheeler up to the young child as he was walking to his father in front of an apartment building on Marion Avenue and carried out the sudden heist around 4 p.m., police and sources said. The boy was left with redness and swelling to his neck, and needed to be treated at the scene by EMS. The stolen chain is worth around $1,300, sources said. Police are now searching for the thief who rode off northbound on Marion Avenue with a multicolored hat, black jacket and black jeans, according to surveillance footage captured by the NYPD.
