In the first round, skilled archers release 30 arrows toward the target, followed by 20 arrows in the second.

England making Jacob Bethell its youngest ever mens cricket captain at 21

Agency: London, Aug 15 (AP) Jacob Bethell will break a record which has stood for 136 years when the 21-year-old allrounder becomes England's youngest ever men's cricket captain next month. Bethell will lead England against Ireland in three Twenty20s in Dublin. The previous youngest England captain was Monty Bowden, who was 23 in 1889 when he took charge for a test in South Africa after regular skipper Aubrey Smith fell ill with fever. Some senior players will be missing in Ireland including usual white-ball captain Harry Brook, who will be in charge of one-day international and T20 games against visiting South Africa earlier in September. 'Jacob Bethell has impressed with his leadership qualities ever since he has been with the England squads, and the series against Ireland will provide him with the opportunity to further develop those skills on the international stage," England men's selector Luke Wright said in a statement on Friday. The captaincy is part of a rapid rise for Bethell, who made his debuts for England in all three formats only last year. The series in Ireland begins on Sept. 17. Ex-Teammate Narrates Dhoni's Hillarious Jibe: 'So Many Girlfriends In Those Days...'

Last Updated: S Sreesanth shared a humorous story about MS Dhoni, recalling Dhoni joking about girlfriends at each venue and praising Dhoni's belief in his potential. Former India pacer S Sreesanth recently recounted a lighthearted story about the legendary wicketkeeper-batter Mahendra Singh Dhoni from their playing days, showcasing the camaraderie and humour within the Indian cricket team. Sreesanth recalled an incident where Dhoni humorously shouted at him during a match. According to Sreesanth, Dhoni often joked that he would seek a girlfriend at each venue they played. 'There were so many girlfriends in those days that he thought I would catch a girlfriend from every ground," Sreesanth was quoted as saying on Padamjeet Sehrawat's YouTube channel. Beyond the jokes, Sreesanth also reflected on Dhoni's belief in his abilities. He remembered Dhoni once telling him that he had the potential to achieve great success in his career, but admitted he didn't fully realise his own capabilities back then. 'The one captain, the one friend who made me understand that my potential could have taken me high, but you could not understand your own potential," Sreesanth said, acknowledging Dhoni's mentorship. Sreesanth, a key part of India's T20 World Cup 2007 and ODI World Cup 2011 wins under Dhoni, also revisited one of his most iconic on-field moments — his fiery celebration after dismissing Matthew Hayden in the T20 World Cup 2007 semi-final against Australia. With Australia chasing 189, Sreesanth clean bowled the dangerous opener, sending his stump cartwheeling. He then slapped the pitch three times, mimicking a wrestling referee counting down a pinfall. 'Many people do not know why I did that celebration. Matthew Hayden was a big guy, and I had clean bowled him. That is why that celebration was straight out of wrestling, where the referee hits the floor thrice before declaring you out," Sreesanth explained on JioHotstar's 'Cheeky Singles'. How Only Dhoni Could Control Sreesanth? Former India teammate Robin Uthappa also recalled how Dhoni was one of the few who could truly manage Sreesanth's fiery personality. In a match against Australia in Hyderabad, Sreesanth theatrically appealed for a run-out at the non-striker's end. Dhoni immediately rushed down the pitch, pulled him away, and said, 'It was just after the World Cup, and we were playing Australia in Hyderabad. And I think it was either Andrew Symonds who had backed up. And then Sree (Sreesanth) stopped, took the stumps off and goes 'How is that? How is that?' So MS came running from there, pulled him and said 'just go bowl bro'," Uthappa was quoted as saying on the YouTube show 'Wake Up With Sorabh'. 'Someone who actually handled him really well was MS," Uthappa added. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Shubman Gill's Arrival Can Threaten 13 Crore KKR Star's Asia Cup Spot: Report

Last Updated: Rinku Singh's spot in India's Asia Cup squad is reportedly doubtful, as selectors could favor 'multi-dimensional' players like Shivam Dube, or Test captain Shubman Gill. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Rinku Singh's place in India's 2025 Asia Cup squad isn't guaranteed and likely to face heavy scrutiny from the national selectors, according to a report by news agency PTI. The report doesn't say that Rinku would be left out completely, but cites his dip in game-time and form over the past year to explain that he could be used to make way for someone like Shubman Gill. It is also conjectured that the team could look for 'multi-dimensional' players like Jitesh Sharma (who can keep wickets) and Shivam Dube (who can bowl a bit) to play the finisher's role if Rinku is not picked. Until 2023, Rinku was among the best lower-order batters in the IPL. He struck 474 runs at a strike-rate of just under 150 in that season, allowing him to be fast-tracked into the T20I and ODI sides as a finisher, where his performances continued to be good. As KKR's top-order shone in 2024, his game time reduced and he was simultaneously overlooked in the main squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, leading to a fall in his stocks. His form in IPL 2025, after becoming KKR's most expensive retention, was better than 2024 but not eye-catching: 206 runs at a strike-rate of 153.73. 'We often hear people saying, one should pick so and so but no one would be able to definitively tell us 'in place of whom'? Shreyas Iyer has 600 runs at a strike-rate of 180 but he bats in top four. Where is the place for him. Even as you include Shubman as he is flavour of the season, where do you cut corners," a former national selector told the agency in the report. 'You can't disturb your top five right now and also pick Shubman. And if you pick Shubman now, obviously the Test captain and IPL team captain won't sit out. So where do you make the compromise? I only see Rinku's spot being iffy as he isn't required as much some of the top order batters. And mind it, we aren't even talking about Jaiswal," the former selector added. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
