CAIRO – 3 May 2025: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was updated on the latest developments in the national project to develop the Al-Zahraa Arabian Horse Breeding Station Ain Shams, which due to be relocated in the new administrative capital, said the Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy in a statement on May 3, 2025.
President Sisi met with Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk and Lieutenant General Ashraf Zaher, Director of the Egyptian Military Academy.
The station, affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture, is internationally renowned for its pure Arabian bloodlines. Discussions covered the executive measures taken to enhance the station's efficiency, including the deployment of specialized personnel and experts, and the adoption of advanced technologies to ensure optimal development.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for relocating the horses to the station's new headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. Constructed to international standards, the new facility can accommodate approximately 1,000 horses and includes a fully equipped veterinary hospital. This relocation is part of a broader strategy to restore and elevate Zahraa Station's global reputation in Arabian horse breeding, supporting breeding, sales, exports, and participation in international auctions and festivals.
Ambassador El-Shenawy added that the official inauguration of the new Zahraa Station will coincide with the annual Zahraa Festival in 2025.
In this context, the President called for a comprehensive plan to upgrade the existing Ain Shams facility, thereby preserving and enhancing Egypt's heritage in purebred horse breeding. He also directed the implementation of digitization and mechanization, alongside the training and preparation of specialized personnel, to ensure the new station is fully equipped to produce elite Egyptian Arabian horses recognized worldwide for their quality and pedigree.

Industrial Hub for Bridge Parts to Be Established in Egypt

SAMCO teams up with Germany's Maurer to localise production, boost export capacity, and train Egyptian engineers. Jun 12, 2025 A strategic partnership between Egypt's SAMCO and Germany's Maurer is set to establish an integrated industrial complex in Egypt dedicated to manufacturing bridge and tunnel components. The agreement builds on their existing collaboration producing internationally compliant bridge bearings and marks a major step toward reshoring critical infrastructure production. The planned facility will expand current operations to produce bearings, expansion joints, and other necessary parts for infrastructure mega-projects—such as high-speed rail lines, bridges, and tunnels—serving both domestic needs and regional exports to Africa and the Middle East. As part of the agreement, Egyptian engineers and technicians will receive on-the-job training from Maurer experts, accelerating the transfer of modern manufacturing know-how. Already, 75% of the bearing components are locally sourced, and the plan aims for full domestic production in the near future. A technical committee—comprising representatives from SAMCO, the General Authority for Industrial Development, and the Roads and Bridges Authority—will oversee the hub's planning and execution. The committee will set milestones, staffing requirements, and a timeline to ensure the project aligns with national goals to enhance industrial self-sufficiency and private-sector strength in the transport sector .

Egypt sets rules for foreign delegations visiting Gaza border

Egypt has announced regulatory controls for foreign delegations wishing to visit the border area with the Gaza Strip, stating that prior approval must be obtained through official channels. In a Wednesday statement, the government said the only way it would consider such requests is through a formal application to an Egyptian embassy abroad, or via requests submitted by foreign embassies in Cairo or representatives of organisations to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It said that no requests or invitations received outside this specified framework would be considered. The statement emphasised the importance of adhering to these regulations to ensure the security of visiting delegations, citing the delicate security situation in the border region since the beginning of the crisis in Gaza. It noted that many visits for foreign government and non-governmental delegations had been arranged previously under this process. The government also stressed the importance for citizens of all countries to adhere to the laws and regulations governing entry into Egyptian territory, including obtaining the necessary visas or permits. In the statement, Egypt said it welcomes international and regional positions that support Palestinian rights and reject what it described as the 'siege, starvation, and flagrant and systematic Israeli violations' against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. It affirmed that Egypt continues to work at all levels to end the war on the Strip and the humanitarian disaster affecting more than two million Palestinians. The statement reaffirmed Egypt's steadfast position in support of the Palestinian people on their land and its rejection of Israeli violations of international law and international humanitarian law. It also stressed the importance of pressuring Israel to end the siege on the Strip and allow humanitarian access through all land crossings from Israel.
