Personal loans with zero processing fees: THESE banks are offering the best deals

Minta day ago

Looking to save on your next personal loan? Several banks are now offering zero processing fees, helping you reduce upfront costs significantly—especially on large loan amounts.
It is crucial to keep in mind that processing fees can add a substantial amount to the overall cost of a particular personal loan. For example, on a loan of ₹ 5 lakhs a 2% processing fee amounts to a substantial figure of ₹ 10,000. This is clearly a significant upfront cost.
Bank Processing fee Bank of India Zero fees for select categories; standard fees apply otherwise IndusInd Bank Occasionally offers zero fees for online applications Union Bank of India 0.5% of loan amount, often waived during special offers ICICI Bank Typically 0.99%-2.5%; promotional waivers available online SBI Standard 1%-1.5%, reduced fees during festive campaigns HDFC Bank Charges 1%-2.5%, may offer waivers to select customers Kotak Bank Up to 2.5%, limited-time offers for salaried customers offering zero processing fees Yes Bank Up to 2.5%, with occasional zero processing fee promotions

Note: The processing fee waivers and zero-fee offers listed above are indicative only and often tied to online applications, festive seasons, or limited-time promotions. Terms may vary by lender, so always verify eligibility and current offers before applying.
That is why several lenders now use zero processing fees to attract borrowers. Comparing charges, terms and conditions in such cases can save you big, especially on large loans. To make the most of the same, you should always check for hidden costs carefully before going for a particular loan product.
To boost your chances of securing a personal loan with zero processing fees you should: Reach out to the official websites and compare offers from several banks and NBFCs, focus on those with lowest possible or zero processing fee offers.
Do ensure that you meet the lender's basic requirements, eligibility including credit score, minimum income needs along with employment status.
Most zero processing fee offers are exclusive to online applications that is why applying through the lender's official website or application can unlock better loan deals and facilitate faster processing.
Carefully keep an eye on festive seasons such as Holi, Diwali, Eid along with other special events as lenders often launch limited time offers for borrowers during these periods.
By staying informed and comparing offers provided by different banks carefully, borrowers can secure cost efficient personal loans designed according to their needs and aspirations.

Will the Air India crash lead to the grounding of the Dreamliner series and disrupt travel?

Mumbai: Thursday's crash of Air India flight AI171 has sent shockwaves throughout the country. This is the first time the Boeing 787 Dreamliner has crashed, according to the Aviation Safety Network database. Mint breaks down the impact of the crash. An Air India flight, AI 171, an Ahmedabad to London flight, crashed within minutes after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, according to an Air India statement on X. The aircraft, which had 242 passengers and crew members, was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The plane crashed into a hostel building for doctors, about 1.4 km southwest of the runway end, according to Aviation Safety Network. Subsequently, the Ahmedabad airport was shut down. Experts maintain that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), an independent bureau under the ministry of civil aviation, will investigate the crash. The first step is to recover the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder, which appear to be reasonably intact at this time. The US Federal Aviation Administration stated that it has initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. As of 14 April 2025, Air India's fleet comprises a total of 198 aircraft. This includes 34 Dreamliners, comprising 27 Boeing 787-8s and 7 Boeing 787-9s. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has the power to ground the remaining 26 Boeing 787-8, which will cause Air India to take a hit. The air carrier may face operational disruptions if these widebody jets are grounded. "It is the worst day of my professional career," Tata Sons Chair N. Chandrasekaran told CNBC-TV18 on Thursday. Boeing has said it is in touch with Air India. On 30 April, the US plane maker highlighted the success of the Dreamliner series in a press release, noting that its 1,175 planes had carried 1 billion passengers in 14 years—a record that surpasses any other wide-body commercial aircraft in history. Indigo and Air India together hold a majority of 90% of India's aviation market. Any grounding of the 787 Dreamliner series would further lead to plane shortages, especially for long-haul routes. On Wednesday, analysts at Kotak Institutional Equities stated that Indian carriers were already facing a plane shortage, which was evident in the price rise on routes connecting six metropolitan cities. All of this, including a potential grounding of the Dreamliner series, could lead to an increase in airfare.

Car dealers sit on ₹52k cr stock as sales slow, inventories hit record high

Car dealerships in India are facing mounting pressure as unsold vehicle inventory has reached an all-time high of ₹51,000–₹52,000 crore in value terms. This sharp rise comes despite a year-long trend of muted retail demand, according to a report by The Economic Times. The current stock level by volume — estimated at 440,000 units or 34-38 days of inventory — is only slightly below last year's Diwali peak of 40-45 days. However, the sharp increase in vehicle prices and gradual stock build-up has pushed the total value to unprecedented levels. The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has pegged the inventory even higher, estimating 52-53 days of stock at dealerships. This growing mismatch between wholesale dispatches and retail sales has raised concerns over working capital stress for dealers, many of whom are struggling with stock that remains unsold for extended periods, The Economic Times reported. Retail sales slump despite wholesale push Retail car sales in May stood at 302,214 units — a 3.14 per cent decline compared to the same month last year. The decline in monthly volumes marked the slowest growth in eight months and the lowest monthly figure so far in the current calendar year. Cars have remained in dealer yards for over 50 days on average for nearly 14 consecutive months — more than double the industry norm of 21 days, noted Vigneshwar, a dealer representative, the news report mentioned. Despite concerns raised by dealers, major carmakers such as Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki maintain that their inventory levels remain within acceptable limits. Hyundai Motor India's COO Tarun Garg said the company is maintaining a 'healthy inventory level of four weeks' across its dealership network, similar to the same period last year. High demand, controlled stock levels Partho Banerjee, head of sales and marketing at Maruti Suzuki India, echoed this view, claiming an improvement over last year. 'Our inventory levels are much better than the previous year,' he said during a monthly sales call on June 2, adding that Maruti's inventory stood at around 35 days. Some specific models continue to see strong demand, with waiting lists in place. These include Maruti's Brezza and Ertiga, and Mahindra's Thar, Thar Roxx, and Scorpio-N. Select variants of Toyota's Hyryder and Hycross are also in high demand, with waiting periods ranging from four to ten weeks, according to a note by Nomura.

Capillary Tech set to file IPO documents by October; Warburg, others to trim stake via listing planned this fiscal

Capillary Technologies, a company specialising in loyalty management and customer engagement software, is likely to file a draft prospectus by October and go public this fiscal, two people aware of the plan told Mint. This would be its second attempt at listing. The company's board approved an initial public offering of ₹2,250 crore, of which ₹500 crore is a fresh issue of shares and ₹1,750 crore is an offer for sale by existing investors, according to a filing with the ministry of corporate affairs earlier this month. Investors such as Warburg Pincus and Avataar Ventures will sell a part of their stakes in the IPO to reach minimum public shareholding norms, the people added. Warburg Pincus first invested in Capillary in 2018 in a $20 million round, alongside Sequoia Capital. Avataar joined the cap table in 2023 in an equity and debt round that totalled $140 million. It is likely to be valued at $1.2-1.3 billion. All investors are bullish on the growth of the company but will sell to meet the minimum public holding requirements," one person told Mint, requesting anonymity. This is Capillary Technologies' second attempt at a public listing. It joins startups including Navi and Droom that had initially pursued IPOs during the 2021 boom but are now making a renewed push to go public this year. The company first filed a draft red herring prospectus in December 2021 for a fresh issue of equity shares worth ₹200 crore and an offer for sale of ₹650 crore, totaling ₹850 crore. However, the company did not proceed with the listing at the time. Queries sent to Capillary Technologies, Warburg Pincus, and Avataar Ventures did not elicit a response at the time of publishing the story.
