Yahoo Sports Elevates Coverage for New Era of College Sports

Yahoo10 hours ago
NEW YORK, Aug. 5, 2025 - Yahoo Sports announced new investments today that reinforce its position as a premier destination for college sports news, analysis, and commentary. Arriving alongside college athletics' new revenue-sharing era, the updates will help fans better follow the on-field moments and off-field decisions defining this next chapter.
'Between the action on the field and the decisions off it, there have never been more college sports stories to tell than now,' said Sam Farber, Yahoo Sports Head of Content. 'With these investments, we can deliver the kind of smart, in-depth coverage that will help fans better follow their favorite schools and understand the evolving landscape of collegiate athletics.'
Yahoo Sports to Distribute
Yahoo Sports, On3, and Josh Pate are partnering to bring Josh Pate's College Football Show to a wider audience. Beginning Aug. 10, the show will start airing on On3 and Yahoo Sports in addition to continuing to be available on Josh Pate's YouTube channel and podcast feeds. Josh Pate's College Football Show features expert commentary and analysis from Pate as well as interviews with some of the biggest names in the sport. It will air live from Nashville in a brand new Yahoo Sports studio in the On3 offices. In addition, as part of the partnership, On3 and Rivals will be Pate's exclusive recruiting and transfer portal partners.
On3-Rivals Hub Launches on Yahoo Sports Website
As part of the partnership Yahoo Sports and On3 announced in April, the Yahoo Sports website now features an On3 & Rivals hub dedicated to college sports and recruiting coverage. The hub delivers reporting and analysis from On3, Rivals, and Yahoo Sports. It also distributes content from On3 shows Andy & Ari On3 and The Hard Count with J.D. PicKell, as well as from College Football Enquirer and Josh Pate's College Football Show. In addition, the hub will feature a transfer portal feed to keep fans up-to-date on personnel changes across college football. Fans can access the On3 & Rivals hub here.
'This partnership with Yahoo Sports is a major step forward for On3 and Rivals,' said Shannon Terry, CEO of On3 | Rivals. 'We're combining trusted reporting with powerful voices, and massive distribution from Yahoo Sports to deliver the most comprehensive coverage of college sports in this new era.'
'It's a real privilege to reunite with Josh Pate,' Terry added. 'I worked with him early in his career and have watched him grow into one of the most impactful voices in college football. His show will be a key part of this partnership and a tremendous resource for fans.'
Yahoo Sports Extends Ross Dellenger
Yahoo Sports has extended senior college football reporter Ross Dellenger, one of the industry's most trusted insiders covering the shifting college sports landscape. With deep relationships and a unique pulse on developments in athlete compensation and broader college sports governance, Dellenger routinely breaks news and translates what it means for fans, athletes, coaches, and athletic departments. He's won multiple Associated Press Sports Editors (APSE) and Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) awards during his career, including an APSE award in 2023 for his breaking news coverage of the Michigan sign stealing scandal. Dellenger will continue to report for Yahoo Sports and co-host College Football Enquirer.
Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey Join
College Football Enquirer is returning Aug. 12 with a new sound for the new season. Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey are joining the show as new co-hosts alongside Dellenger. Staples covers college football nationally for On3 and has previously written for The Athletic and Sports Illustrated. He also co-hosts Andy & Ari On3. Godfrey specializes in investigative reporting throughout the college football industry, with coverage appearing in Vox Media and The Washington Post. He's also the co-host of the Phantom Island podcast for Falcon Scott Productions.

Luka Doncic is named an ambassador for ESPN's Take Back Sports initiative

Armed with a new three-year, $165 million contract extension that he agreed to on Saturday, Luka Doncic can stay in the moment, as he will be a member of the Los Angeles Lakers for at least the next three seasons. He is about to take part in the EuroBasket tournament overseas. The competition's exhibition slate of games will start on Friday, and the actual tournament will commence near the end of this month. In the meantime, Doncic is teaming up with ESPN to become a Take Back Sports ambassador in order to promote an active lifestyle for children. 'Play changed my life. Every kid deserves the chance to play, learn, grow, have fun and make friends,' said Luka Dončić. 'The Luka Dončić Foundation and ESPN's Take Back Sports initiative are focused on making youth sports more accessible and less stressful for everyone. Together, we can bring the joy back to the game.' The Take Back Sports initiative was started earlier this year in collaboration with Golden State Warriors living legend Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha's Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation. Now Doncic is a part of this large initiative that is not only encouraging kids to be active but is also looking to prevent kids from quitting sports. Quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry from the Baltimore Ravens and retired NFL stars Eli and Peyton Manning are just a few other athletes who have also been named as ambassadors for the Take Back Sports initiative.
