A security guard opened fire on children who had gathered to collect money distributed during a wedding ceremony in Saianwala.
According to officials, the children of the Deendar community had gathered at the door of a wedding hall to collect money during a Walima ceremony in Salarwala area.
The security guard, Ahmed Khan, opened fire to disperse the children who had crowded the entrance.
As a result, nine-year-old Rizwan and his 12-year-old brother Salman, 60-year-old Shagufta Bibi and 35-year-old Hamid suffered bullet injuries in the legs.
A Rescue 1122 team provided medical assistance to the victims.
The Saianwala police arrested the suspect along with his weapon.
In a separate incident, a police constable allegedly vandalised a tea stall at Samana Bridge, broke an LCD and other items for not paying extortion money. The city police officer ordered suspension of the suspect after a video of the incident surfaced on social media.

Businessman found tortured to death
The tortured body of a 50-year-old businessman who had been abducted two days ago while going out to buy milk was found in Kharianwala. According to officials, Muhammad Umar Naeem, a resident of Madina Town, had lodged a complaint stating that his father, businessman Sheikh Naeem Ahmed, had gone out on a motorcycle to buy milk when he was abducted by unknown individuals. The abducted man's body was found in fields in Shireen Wala near Kharianwala. He had been tortured and murdered by unknown persons, who then dumped his body in the fields. Madina Town police reached the scene, took possession of the body and shifted it to a hospital for post-mortem. They police applied Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code to the previously registered abduction case and initiated an investigation for identifying and arresting the murderers. Meanwhile, the body of 18-year-old Arsalan, who drowned while bathing in the Khair Wala Bangla Canal, Jhang Branch, has been recovered. Rescue 1122 spokesperson, on Monday, Arsalan, an 18-year-old resident of Chak No. 201 GB, went missing after drowning in deep water while bathing in the Khair Wala Bangla Canal, Jhang Branch. A rescue operation had been ongoing to locate him. After two days of continued efforts, on Wednesday afternoon, Rescue 1122 recovered Arsalan's body and handed it over to his heirs.

Ambush leaves five schoolchildren injured
In a tragic incident on Tuesday morning, a masked gunman opened indiscriminate fire on a school van in the outskirts of Battagram, in the village of Pirhadi, leaving five children severely injured. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition. The attack occurred when a group of children from Pirhadi boarded a Toyota Hiace van to travel to school in Battagram city. A short distance into the journey, a masked, armed man ambushed the vehicle. According to eyewitnesses, the driver managed to escape the scene by abandoning the van and fleeing. Some children tried to explain to the assailant that the driver had run away, but the gunman, without any hesitation, opened fire on the van. Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene. Local residents and police quickly arrived, and the injured children were rushed to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. Taking notice of the incident, Battagram Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali Khan declared an emergency at the DHQ Hospital and directed Additional Assistant Commissioners Sher Dil Khan and Habibullah to promptly reach the hospital. District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Ayaz also visited the hospital and reviewed the medical arrangements. Senior officials met with the injured children and instructed the hospital staff to ensure the best possible care. Protesters chanted slogans against the brutal attacker and demanded justice. During the protest, speakers including Allama Ata Muhammad, Saeed Ahmad Malikal, Niaz Muhammad Khan Tarand, Ijaz Khan, and Maulana Khursheed strongly condemned the incident, calling it an act of unimaginable cruelty.
