Vogue Williams 'knew she made a mistake' marrying Brian McFadden on wedding day
TV presenter Vogue Williams has opened up about her marriage to Westlife singer Brain McFadden, revealing that she knew she had made a mistake on the morning of her wedding
TV star Vogue Williams has opened up about her ill-fated marriage to Westlife's Brian McFadden, admitting she had doubts on their wedding day in 2012. The couple, who met in a Dublin nightclub and got engaged in early 2012, celebrated their nuptials in Florence, Italy, but the marriage unravelled within three years, leading to their divorce in 2017.
In her tell-all autobiography 'Big Mouth', Vogue confesses that Brian wasn't "marriage material" despite being "good fun to be around" most of the time. She writes: "The morning of the wedding I felt very stressed and so anxious because deep down I knew I had made a mistake. After the wedding I tried to make things work."
Vogue reflects on the brighter moments of their relationship, saying: "The relationship wasn't all terrible, we did have some great times too, and for the most part he was good fun to be around. But he was not husband material."
She candidly reveals: "It was me who called it in the end. I couldn't keep trying, it felt pointless... I'm not here to throw anyone under the bus but there are things that went on in our relationship that will never be forgiven."
Further sharing her experiences on The Life of Bryony podcast with Bryony Gordon, Vogue confided that she felt like her "life was over" when her divorce from Brian was finalised.
She divulged her past concerns, saying: "I remember being divorced at 31 and thinking, I've ruined my life. I am never going to have kids, I am never going to do what I always wanted to do."
Sharing her positivity about growing older, she added: "Then you see how your life actually starts to unfold – that's why it feels exciting to move into your forties,".
Vogue has since found love with ex-Made in Chelsea heartthrob Spencer Matthews. They surprised everyone with a low-key Scottish ceremony just months after getting engaged, with Vogue admitting it was "the best day of her life."
Spencer echoed the sentiment to Hello! Magazine: "It has gone down by many as the best wedding they've ever been to. It was a family affair in the middle of nowhere and it felt very secluded. We were surrounded by the people we love."
At their intimate nuptials on Spencer's family estate in Glen Affric, Inverness-shire, Vogue was expectantly awaiting the arrival of their son, Theodore, who was born in September 2018. The couple has since welcomed two more children, Gigi, 4, and Otto, 2.

The American actor - the star of The Departed, Planet of the Apes and The Italian Job - surprised the trio with a video call, saying their adventure had left him "inspired". Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Eldest brother Ewan Maclean, said receiving a video call from Mark Wahlberg was 'bloody surreal' | Submitted In the video call with Ewan, Jamie, and Lachlan Maclean, Wahlberg praised their mission to row 9,000 miles non-stop and unsupported from Lima, Peru, to Sydney, Australia, raising funds for clean water projects in Madagascar. "I'm so inspired by you guys," Wahlberg told the brothers, who are now 54 days into their row. "You're badasses doing something no one else would even think of. (Left-right) Jamie, Lachlan and Ewan Maclean, three Scottish brothers aiming to become the fastest people to row across the Pacific, have received a surprise video call from Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg, who told them their record-breaking bid "could be a movie". Picture: The Maclean Brothers/PA Wire | PA "This could be a movie. The best films I've done are based on true stories - ordinary people doing extraordinary things. No way I'd row an ocean, but I'd play one of you guys in a movie." As they battle salt sores, relentless weather, a broken watermaker, and a faulty autohelm - with more than 5,000 miles still to go to reach Sydney, and more than £900,000 left to raise towards their £1 million target - the brothers said the call with one of their heroes was a welcome and "surreal" boost. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Wahlberg connected with the brothers over faith, family and resilience, and pledged to help raise awareness for their mission. The Perfect Storm star, who is the youngest of nine siblings, shared his own experience of life at sea. On hearing the brothers had a tuna on the line, Wahlberg recalled nights spent sleeping on a tuna boat with squid as a pillow while filming for the true story he starred in alongside George Clooney. "When I was preparing to do The Perfect Storm, I went out on a sword boat - in Ocean City, Maryland, a longliner, and we were actually fishing,' Wahlberg recalled. Wahlberg on going to the 'next level' Wahlberg added: "What you guys are doing is next level. You're living out a sense of purpose - combining passion with impact. That's rare and it's humbling to watch. People need to hear about what you're doing. "I couldn't be more inspired by the grit, the determination, the resiliency. What you guys are doing for such an amazing cause, and how hard you're willing to sacrifice yourself and your own wellbeing for the good of others, is so inspiring. The actor, who owns restaurants in Sydney and the Gold Coast, also promised the brothers a meal at the finish line - a welcome reward after about four months of freeze-dried meals. The record-breaking mission The Macleans expect to spend more than 100 days on board their 28-foot carbon fibre boat, Rose Emily, named in memory of their late sister. With no engine, no sail and no support crew, the siblings row in two-hour shifts, surviving on freeze-dried meals and desalinated water. "It's been much harder than we expected," said Ewan Maclean, 33, who left his job as a Dyson engineer to help design and build the boat. Lachlan, who will turn 28 next week and is the youngest of the trio, added: "We're all operating in such little sleep that we thought it all could have been a hallucination."

Another successful Children's Festival is over
The Edinburgh International Children's Festival has just finished and has already been declared a major success. The festival was attended by 17,000 people which is an 11% increase from last year, with 87% of all tickets sold, and it will be back next year from 30 May to 7 June 2026. The event began with a packed Family Day at the National Museum of Scotland which was free to attend and which 7,460 people attended. This was followed by a week of shows attended by 3,615 pupils from 41 schools including nursery, primary and secondary schools. Festival Director Noel Jordan, said: 'From uplifting productions celebrating the diversity of our global sector and centred around the perspective and viewpoint of the child, to incredible industry panel discussions and provocations, what a fantastic week this has been. As my final Festival I could not have been prouder. With such an incredible and dedicated team behind it I am sure the Festival will continue to go from strength to strength. Thank you to all our audiences, funders, supporters and performers who make this festival such a joyous experience.' The shows included work from 7 different countries and the premiere of new commission Tongue Twister created and performed by Scottish artist Greg Sinclair and commissioned in partnership with Aberdeen Performing Arts. The show which features Greg attempting to say tongue twisters in as many different languages as possible, delighted its audiences with its language antics and gorgeous costumes. 'That was the bestest show in the world!' (child). Tongue Twister is touring to the Light the Blue Festival this weekend in Aberdeen. The Festival also enjoyed a run of the 2024 'must-see' Fringe show The Show for Young Men performed by Robbie Synge and young performer Alfie exploring topical ideas around masculinity and male friendship, and finished on a high with 6 sell-out performances of Double You, a raucous and high energy circus production from Belgium hosted in Portobello Town Hall. As well as families and schools, the Festival welcomed over 310 delegates from festivals and arts organisations in 30 different countries including Australia, Hungary, Thailand and Norway also attended the Festival. The delegate programme provided a platform for programmers, producers and artists to see and discuss high-quality work, share work in progress and network with peers from all over the world. In addition to the delegates who attended in person, 56 more attended the digital delegate programme online. The much-anticipated new commission the Unlikely Friendship of Feather Boy and Tentacle Girl which unfortunately was cancelled at the last minute due to a performer injury, plans to open in August for this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of the Made in Scotland Showcase. The Edinburgh International Children's Festival will return in 2026 from 30 May to 7 June under new direction, following Noel Jordan's announcement earlier this year that after 10 successful years at the helm, he will be standing down and returning to Australia in November. Scots rock band pull out of festival headline slot amid pay dispute with promoters
The musicians have said that the move followed organisers "not fulfilling" contractual agreements to pay deposits HEADLINE BLOW Scots rock band pull out of festival headline slot amid pay dispute with promoters THE FRATELLIS have withdrawn from performing the headline slot at a Scottish festival this summer over a pay dispute. The Glasgow rockers were due to headline Back Doune the Rabbit Hole in August. Advertisement 3 Back Doune the Rabbit Hole has lost a headline act over a contract dispute 3 The Fratellis have pulled out citing unfulfilled contractual obligations Credit: Getty 3 The Glasgow band was due to headline the festival in August The musicians have said that the move followed organisers' "not fulfilling" contractual agreements to pay deposits. Back Doune the Rabbit Hole is one of four festivals that The Fratellis have pulled out of over such monetary matters. A statement on The Fratellis' website read: "Unfortunately, our planned Summer festival appearances at the recent Stone Valley South, and forthcoming Monument, Back Doune the Rabbit Hole and Lindisfarne Festival will not be going ahead. "This is due to promoters of each event not fulfilling our contractual obligations to pay deposits to confirm the band's appearance. Advertisement "Anyone who has purchased a ticket for these events should contact the agent or seller these have been purchased from for a full refund." Organisers of Back Doune the Rabbit Hole, held at Cardross Estate, Stirling, said The Fratellis were lined up through a third-party and their withdrawal was out of their control. The festival follows the demise of Doune the Rabbit Hole, which was mired in controversy. The 2023 event was axed after organisers owed £800,000 to artists and crews in 2022. Advertisement Trade union BECTU called for a boycott of the festival. In June 2023, it was reported that Doune the Rabbit Hole was on the brink of collapse and ticket sales had been suspended following a "campaign of misinformation". Travis frontman Fran Healy reveals how festival favourite was almost 'never written' Bosses later announced that it was cancelled, one month before musicians and fans were due to attend. An update from festival organisers said: "We're sorry to confirm that The Fratellis will no longer be performing at Back Doune the Rabbit Hole. Advertisement "Their appearance was arranged through a third-party promoter, and unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of our control, the booking has not been fulfilled. Like many of you, we're incredibly disappointed by how this has unfolded. "We know how much people were looking forward to their set, and we completely understand the frustration. We're working hard behind the scenes to secure a brilliant replacement and will be announcing your new Saturday night headliner very soon. "Thank you for your patience and continued support. We'll have have a further update for you shortly." The Fratellis, formed in 2005, have several other live dates coming up this summer. Advertisement They will perform at Glastonbury Festival and Canons Marsh Ampitheatre in Bristol this month, followed by Glasgow Green on July 9. They will also take to the stage at Slessor Gardens in Dundee on July 25. Back Doune the Rabbit Hole will take place between August 1 and 3, with Marc Almond and The Zutons the other headliners. Bay City Rollers, Scouting for Girls, The Feeling, Newton Faulkner, and Utah Saints will also perform.
