Rock star Dave Edmunds critically ill in hospital after dying in wife's arms from cardiac arrest
Rock icon Dave Edmunds is in a critical state in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest and dying in his wife's arms before he was revived. The 81-year-old, who made Christmas number one with his hit song I Hear You Knocking, is said to have died in his wife's arms before being resuscitated. The musician is now in hospital with brain damage and severe memory loss.
Dave's devastated wife shared the news in a Facebook post, where she recalled the terrifying moment in which Dave had CPR performed on him by a nurse. In the post, she wrote: "My beloved husband of 40 years has had a major cardiac arrest".
Cici explained that Dave had "died in my arms while I desperately tried to keep him alive". She added that a nurse was with her at the time and performed "heavy CPR" on the rockstar.
Devoted wife Cici revealed the nurse said she was "gonna stop" as "Dave is gone" but Cici "refused to give up" and the nurse continued "heavy duty CPR" on the star, the Mirror reports.
She then revealed "by a miracle" Dave was revived by doctors at an intensive care unit operating room.
However, the incident has left Dave with brain damage, severe memory loss and is 'at risk' of another cardiac arrest as his wife said he has a "long journey ahead of him".
Cici also admitted she has "PTSD from the horrific experience".
She concluded the post: "Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have. But knowing that there are kind hearted people such as you all makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all. Sending you all much love and light and always."
Cici was flooded with messages of love and support by fans as the comments as one wrote: "All my love, support and prayers to Dave, and please stay on your road to recovery, CiCi."
Another penned: "Sweet Cicci. The nightmare you both are going through is unimaginable... All my [heart] your way..."
A third commented: "Dear Cici, what you're both going through is unbelievable, and I hope it all comes to a happy end! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and wish you both all the be".
Dave was born in Cardiff and had a string of hits throughout his career in the 1970s and 1980s including his Christmas number one.

During his career, Dave formed Love Sculpture before going solo.
He also collaborated with a string of other huge names including Ringo Starr for his band: Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band and also worked with Paul McCartney on the 1984 film Give My Regards to Broad Street, in which Edmunds performed in McCartney's band.

It was William who was invited to the big wedding, he was an usher, and William who stood alongside Hugh and his new wife Olivia cheering on Aston Villa in their exciting Champions League quarter final." Given the Duke's long history with William, Jennie believes: 'If there is to be a royal godfather to the couple's newborn daughter, the likelihood is that it will be William. There's already lots of 'cross pollination' between the families as far as godparents are concerned, so it seems likely that William will be asked.' While Harry is likely to be upset if William is chosen to the be the baby's godfather over him, Jennie said the decision would've been made easier by the Grosvenors due to Harry's current, and possibly ongoing, situation with the Firm. Jennie said: 'These awkward decisions are made slightly easier by the fact that Harry lives so far away, with no prospect of ever moving back to the UK. And that's not the ideal way to carry out any godparenting duties. 'So I think Harry will understand if he is left out and William is chosen as godfather. But it must still be rather sad for him to see his once close friends carrying on their lives without him, while William continues to enjoy the warmth and fun of their friendship. It is, however, the price he has to pay for making such damaging allegations and causing such a bitter rift with his family.' The Duke and Duchess of Westminster welcomed their baby daughter last week, announcing that the little girl's name is Cosima Florence Grosvenor. After revealing they were expecting their first child back in March, the couple announced the birth of their first child in a statement, saying the baby was born in London, adding: "Both the Duchess and Cosima are doing well. The Duke and Duchess now look forward to spending this special time together as a family." Cosima is of Greek and Italian origin. Snoop Dogg wants Oasis ticket for Scotland show as "that's my place and they are my people"
The US rapper famously loves Scotland and is also friends with Liam and Noel Gallagher, so is hoping they send him a ticket for Murrayfield. Snoop Dogg has vowed to come to Scotland next week if Oasis will send him a ticket to one of their sold out Murrayfield gigs. Liam and Noel are due to bring their sell-out reunion tou r to Edinburgh on Friday, Saturday and next Tuesday. In an exclusive interview with the Sunday Mail, Snoop, a huge fan of the band and friend of the Gallaghers, said: 'As soon as I heard they were making a comeback I knew I wanted to come and see them, and lets be real where else is Snoop gonna watch them than Scotland. "That's my place and they are my people. 'There is not long to go until they are in Scotland now – but if the boys send me tickets I am there. "It's a plane journey away – I can be in Scotland in no time. I will clear my schedule and make sure I am there.' Snoop also urged the brothers to get back into the studio and write a new album together rather than just playing their old favourite hits. He added: 'You know real music is not made the way it was used to – that's why it is so important bands like Oasis make a comeback. "This tour has seen huge demand – now my boys Noel and Liam have put their differences aside we got to hope they make some new music when they are done with this tour.'
