Arafah Sermon Calls For Unity, Rejection Of Extremism And Division

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said as Muslims around the world face increasing division due to narrow-minded ideologies and a fading sense of brotherhood, the spirit of haj must be embraced to rekindle the values of love, mutual respect, and fraternity among the faithful. 'If we reflect with open hearts, we will see that haj is a commanding symbol of unity for Muslims worldwide. Look at the millions of people from different races, skin colours, cultures, and languages gathering in one place, facing one qiblah, calling out one name, Allah SWT. 'There are no titles, no castes, no worldly pride. All that remains are two pieces of white cloth and hearts humbled before the Creator. Here, Islam abolishes discrimination and upholds true justice, that a person's worth lies not in appearance or wealth but in piety and righteous deeds. 'This is the social objective (maqasid) of haj, to unite the hearts of the followers of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Without unity, the ummah will remain weak, marginalised, and lost,' he said in the Arafah sermon titled 'The Call of Tawhid and Unity of the Ummah,' delivered in conjunction with Wukuf Day on the plains of Arafah today. Muslims are also urged to embrace the noble values emphasised throughout haj to ensure that the pilgrimage is not only valid but also leaves a profound impact in shaping one's character and personal development. Mohd Na'im also reminded pilgrims to safeguard their safety, belongings, and families to avoid negligence that could jeopardise their entire pilgrimage. 'Pilgrims are also reminded to fulfill the rights of fellow human beings by practising tolerance and mutual assistance and to avoid any kind of dispute that may undermine the spiritual essence of haj,' he said.

Malaysian haj pilgrims begin staged movement to Arafah for wukuf

MAKKAH: A total of 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims, among the 1.8 million Muslims from around the world performing haj this year, began moving to Arafah in stages, since 7.31 am today, to perform the wukuf worship, the pinnacle of haj pilgrimage, tomorrow (June 5). Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said that strict security measures enforced by the Saudi Arabian authorities, including inspections at several checkpoints, could result in some delays in the pilgrims' journey to Arafah for the wukuf worship. 'These security protocols are meant to ensure that only individuals with valid permits are allowed into the Arafah area. The Saudi authorities are very firm on this matter, to guarantee the safety and smooth movement of all pilgrims,' he told reporters, after witnessing the departure of Malaysian pilgrims to Arafah earlier today. He added that Malaysian haj pilgrims are now comfortably on board the buses provided, and he encouraged them to make the most of the journey by reciting the talbiyah and engaging in continuous prayer. 'We know that the prayers of those who are travelling are highly effective. So, I urge all pilgrims to remain focused on worship and to prepare themselves, mentally and spiritually, for the Day of Arafah,' he said. Between 20 and 31 buses have been allocated for each maktab to transport pilgrims from seven hotels to Arafah, located approximately 20 kilometres from Makkah, in three stages. The movement of Malaysian pilgrims to the Arafah plain for the wukuf worship tomorrow will be carried out in three main rounds, using the shuttle bus service. 'The three rounds of pilgrim movement are scheduled as follows: the first trip at 7.31 am, the second at 9 am, and the third at noon,' he said. Mohd Na'im said that Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), together with the Al Masyair (Masyariq) company, expects the entire pilgrim movement operation to be fully completed within six to eight hours. The Saudi Arabian government has announced that the Wukuf Day falls on Thursday, the 9th day of Zulhijjah (June 5), followed by the celebration of Aidiladha on Friday, June 6.

Royal tour reflects concern of the royal institution for the people - Mohd Na'im

PUTRAJAYA: The intention by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, to embark on a 'Kembara Diraja' (Royal Tour) across the federal territories to meet the people and distribute zakat (tithe) reflects the love and concern of the Royal Institution for the people, especially the poor, needy and vulnerable. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said this was conveyed by Sultan Ibrahim in his Royal Address at an investiture ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty's official birthday celebration at Istana Negara yesterday. He expressed his gratitude for the message and pledged his full commitment to supporting and realising His Majesty's noble wishes. 'The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) will work closely with the Prime Minister's Department and relevant agencies, including local authorities, to implement this special programme in phases,' Mohd Na'im said in a post on his official Facebook page today. He said the main objective of the Royal Tour initiative is to personally deliver zakat to the poor and needy, assess the actual needs of the people through a grassroots and people-friendly approach, enhance the effectiveness of the zakat distribution system, and strengthen the bond between the Royal Institution and the rakyat. 'Indeed, the concern and compassion shown by His Majesty serve as a meaningful source of inspiration to all leaders and agencies, for them to uphold the values of compassion, social justice and the culture of giving in our society. 'Daulat Tuanku, May Allah SWT bless His Majesty's reign, grant strength and wisdom for His Majesty to lead the nation and its people,' he said.
