GSK Egypt's consolidated net profits shrink to EGP 65m in H1-25
Cairo: GlaxoSmithKline (GSK Egypt) generated lower consolidated net profits after tax at EGP 65.05 million as of 30 June 2025, compared to EGP 92.55 million in the year-ago period. The EGX-listed company achieved year-on-year (YoY) higher net sales at EGP 1.88 billion in January-June 2025, compared to EGP 1.35 billion, according to the financial statements. Earnings per share stood at EGP 0.78 in H1-25, compared to EGP 1.11 in H1-24. In the second quarter (Q2) of 2025, the company's consolidated net profits after tax plummeted to EGP 5.92 million from EGP 101.54 million in Q2-24. Net sales surged to EGP 890.97 million in Q2-25 from EGP 642.44 million in the same period of 2024, while the EPS fell to EGP 0.07 from EGP 1.22. Standalone Financials GSK Egypt posted non-consolidated net profits after tax of EGP 71.33 million in H1-25, an annual drop from EGP 99.54 million. Meanwhile, the EPS declined to EGP 0.85 from EGP 1.19. In April-June 2025, the company registered an annual plunge in standalone net profit to EGP 27.77 million, against EGP 101.58 million.

MENA-focused Valu's net income surges 64% in H1-25
Cairo: U Consumer Finance (Valu) recorded 64% year-on-year (YoY) higher net income at EGP 341 million during the first half (H1) of 2025, according to the financial results. The gross revenue hiked by 94% YoY to EGP 2.60 billion at the end of June 2025. Gross merchandise value (GMV) stood at EGP 10.60 billion in H1-25, marking an 80% YoY leap, driven by a 133% increase in transactions to 3.6 million, bringing its GMV business-to-date (btd) to EGP 46 billion from 11.9 million transactions BTD. In the second quarter (Q2) of 2025, the gross revenues hit EGP 1.52 billion, while the net income amounted to EGP 217 million. GMV for the quarter stood at EGP 5.21 billion, while transactions reached 1.89 million, reflecting continued operational scale and customer engagement. Walid Hassouna, CEO of Valu, commented: 'We have transitioned from a disruptive startup to a publicly listed company with a proven track record of profitability and strong performance in the first half of 2025, a milestone that cements our evolution.' 'These results reflect the resilience of our business and the effectiveness of our product development strategy from the rapid adoption of our prepaid card to the scalable expansion of our auto-loan offering, Shift,' Hassouna stated. He added: 'The Amazon transaction, through which Amazon acquired a direct stake in Valu and our EGX listing, has unlocked new strategic levers to accelerate progress, deepen our funding base, and extend our regional footprint, with Jordan marking our first MENA entry beyond Egypt.' In July, Valu secured initial approval from the Central Bank of Jordan to launch operations, marking the beginning of its regional expansion. Valu's funding base remains robust, with EGP 10 billion in authorized credit limits and EGP 16 billion in completed securitizations to date. The company's fourth securitization program, valued at EGP 10 billion and backed by an EGP 13 billion portfolio, received FRA approval in July, further enhancing its financial flexibility.

The United Bank's consolidated net profits jump 27% in H1-25
Cairo: The United Bank achieved an annual surge of 27% to EGP 1.57 billion in the first half (H1) of 2025, compared to EGP 1.23 billion. Basic earnings per share (EPS) hiked by 27% to EGP 1.27 at the end of June 2025 from EGP 1 in the same period a year earlier, according to the financial statements. The EGX-listed bank generated net interest income of EGP 6.94 billion in H1-25, signaling a 10% increase from EGP 6.29 billion in H1-24. Standalone Results Non-consolidated net profits after tax reached EGP 1.50 billion as of 30 June 2025, an annual rise of 26.90% from EGP 1.18 billion in H1-24. The standalone net interest income increased by 8.60% to EGP 6.62 billion in H1-25 from EGP 6.10 billion, while the basic and diluted EPS grew to EGP 1.22 from EGP 0.96.
