PM Modi wishes people on Ashadhi Ekadashi
'Warm wishes on the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi! We pray to Bhagwan Vitthal and seek His continued blessings on all of us. May He guide us towards a society full of happiness and abundance. May we also keep serving the poor and downtrodden,' PM Modi posted on X.
Earlier today, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with his family, took part in the vibrant Ashadhi Ekadashi celebrations at the Shree Vitthal Rukmini Temple in Pandharpur.
The CM performed the traditional 'Mahapuja' of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini and later participated in the folk dance 'Fugdi' during a cultural event held on the sidelines of the annual 'Wari' pilgrimage.
Speaking after the rituals, CM Fadnavis said, 'The 'Wari' is a very joyous moment... It unites the devotee and God... The energy of both joins together, and a new energy is created. I came here to experience that energy... Today, all our companions got the opportunity to offer this Puja together.'
Reflecting on his spiritual sentiments, he added, 'As far as Vitthal Bhagwan and Pandurang Bhagwan are concerned, we do not have to ask anything from them because they know what is in everyone's mind... I have asked him to give us strength for the progress of our Maharashtra and give us the strength to walk on the right path. May our farmers get good harvests...'
Amruta Fadnavis, the CM Fadnavis's wife, also participated in the Mahapuja and offered heartfelt prayers. 'I have prayed to Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini for the prosperity of Maharashtra. May the sorrows of our farmers be eased, and may the current leaders be granted wisdom and 'Sadbuddhi' (good sense),' she said.
Ashadhi Ekadashi, also known as Devshayani Ekadashi, is considered one of the most auspicious Ekadashis, holding great religious significance among Hindus.
The day is primarily dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and it is believed that on this day, he entered into a deep sleep (Yoga Nidra) in the cosmic ocean of milk known as Kshir Sagar. Lord Vishnu remains in that state for four months until Prabodhini Ekadashi, marking the end of Chaturmas. (ANI)

Mamata to lead protest on July 16 against targeting of Bengali migrants
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will lead a protest rally in Kolkata on July 16 in response to what the Trinamool Congress described as the continued targeting of migrants from the State in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled States. The party will simultaneously organise demonstrations across West Bengal on the same day. 'If the Bengali language is insulted, if a Bengali is called Bangladeshi, it will not be tolerated at all. We will take to the streets under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee,' senior Trinamool leader and Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said on Sunday (July 13, 2025). The announcement assumes significance as the Trinamool Congress typically refrains from holding major programmes in the lead-up to its annual Martyrs' Day Rally on July 21. However, recent reports of alleged mistreatment of Bengali-speaking migrants in Odisha, Delhi, and Maharashtra appear to have prompted the party to initiate this protest mobilisation. The ruling party in West Bengal stated that the protest was not merely political but a broader campaign to safeguard the 'culture, identity, and honour' of the State. Trinamool MPs Sagarika Ghosh and Saket Gokhale visited Jai Hind Colony in Delhi on Sunday, where concerns had reportedly been raised over the treatment of Bengali migrants. Chief Minister Banerjee, over the past few weeks, has repeatedly condemned what she described as attempts to label Bengali-speaking individuals as 'outsiders' or 'Bangladeshis'. 'Speaking in Bengali does not make a person Bangladeshi,' she has asserted, adding that Bengali is a constitutionally recognised language and that every citizen has the right to speak in their native tongue. Meanwhile, Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP Samirul Islam drew attention to the case of Arati Ghosh, a 52-year-old woman from Boxirhat in Cooch Behar district, who was reportedly labelled a foreigner and excluded from the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam. According to Mr. Islam, Ms. Ghosh had to leave her in-laws' home in Assam and return to West Bengal. 'I want to raise some questions for the anti-Bengali BJP leadership, who often dare to claim their love and respect for Bengal — a claim that is nothing but a vile falsehood,' Mr. Islam said.

China, Pak behind atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh: Human rights activist Rabinder Ghosh
Rabinder Ghosh , a human rights activist from Bangladesh, on Sunday alleged that Pakistan and China are behind the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. Ghosh made these claims in an interview with ANI, stating that despite the violence, Hindus in Bangladesh wish to stay in peace. "We've received information suggesting that China is behind this, and Pakistan is also providing assistance. Pakistan has consistently supported the Bangladeshi Muslims, with their people and army arriving to help Muslims against Hindus," he stated. "This raises questions about the future of our country. The purpose of Bangladesh's existence is being undermined. It's as if Pakistan has re-emerged after 54 years, which is an irony of faith. It's becoming impossible for Hindus to stay there, yet they wish to remain and survive in the country," he told ANI. Ghosh alleged that forceful conversions of Hindus to Islam are taking place in Bangladesh, with many incidents of torture, intimidation, rape, and gang rape reported. Live Events "The Hindu population is declining daily. Some are being forced to convert to Islam. There have been numerous incidents of torture, intimidation, rape, and gang rape. Forced conversions are ongoing, with three recent incidents being particularly unfortunate," he said. He claimed that successive governments in Bangladesh have failed to take initiatives to protect the rights of Bangladeshi Hindus, with the current interim government under Muhammad Yunus also not taking any action. "Despite three governments coming to power, none have taken initiatives to protect the rights of Bangladeshi Hindus. This led to the formation of Bangladesh Minority, which I'm president of. We know that our independence was achieved with the goal of establishing democracy, secularism, and four principles of law. However, since August 5, 2024, a reign of terror has begun under Muhammad Yunus' leadership," he alleged. He stated that 2,336 incidents of violence against Hindus have been reported since Muhammad Yunus took charge as Chief Adviser of Bangladesh. "Many Hindu homes have been burned to ashes, forcing them to flee. As a human rights defender, we've investigated the matter and found 2,336 incidents occurred during Yunus' tenure," he said. Ghosh further alleged that no one has come to Bangladesh's assistance. "We achieved independence in 1971 to protect the rights of all citizens. It's unfortunate that this is happening, and no one has come forward to protect them," he said. Ghosh expressed disappointment that the international community, including the United Nations, has remained silent despite their repeated pleas for help. "The UN has not taken any action, despite our detailed descriptions of the situation. Women and children are being tortured, molested, and raped everywhere. We've provided shelter and food for their survival, but it's unfortunate that the government is not taking any action," he said The current interim government in Bangladesh was formed under the leadership of Muhammad Yunus after the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a student-led uprising in August last year. As per reports, Mahajan camped in the area for more than four days, that he did not move out of the township and personally looked after preparations. Recently, when there was a major rail accident, he took his entire team to the spot and provided relief operations without instructions from either the CM or any other authority. Whether in cabinet or not, he has ensured that people in crisis receive relief on top priority.
