The Cross Van is expected to offer two engine choices: a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Dynamic Force petrol engine and a 1.8-litre hybrid version paired with an electric motor.
Toyota's futuristic X-Van Gear Concept, first seen at the Japan Mobility Show in 2023, is finally headed for production.
According to reports from Japanese magazine Motor-Fan, the production version will be called the Toyota Cross Van and could launch as early as October 2025.
Expected to be priced around 3 million yen (approx. Rs 17.2 Lakhs or $20,000), the Cross Van is designed to blend the boldness of an SUV with the practicality of a people mover, as per Motor Fan.
Design
The Cross Van will measure 4,695 mm long, 1,820 mm wide, and 1,855 mm tall, offering a strong road presence. It will comfortably seat six people across three rows, with smart space-saving innovations like a swivelling front seat and a fold-down second row that doubles up as a table.
The absence of B-pillars allows for easy entry and exit, while the flexible interior turns the vehicle into a perfect companion for long drives, camping, or just lounging in style.
Toyota plans to offer the Cross Van with two engine options:
Both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions are likely.
India Launch
Toyota even showcased the X-Van Concept at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 earlier this year, hinting that it could also make its way to Indian roads, as per Team BHP.

India, South Korea resolve to set new industrial ambition in high-tech sectors

Agency: PTI New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) India and South Korea on Saturday resolved to expand their strategic partnership by setting new 'industrial ambition" in the areas of semiconductor, defence, clean energy, and artificial intelligence. Ways to ramp up the overall bilateral cooperation figured prominently in talks between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his visiting South Korean counterpart, Cho Hyun. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Jaishankar and Hyun agreed to set new industrial ambitions, especially in high-tech sectors such as AI, semiconductors, clean energy, shipbuilding, and the defence industry. The ministers took stock of bilateral cooperation, including in the political, security, trade and economy, technological, and people-to-people domains, it said. In a social media post, Jaishankar described the talks as 'productive". 'Held productive discussions on advancing our bilateral cooperation in trade, manufacturing, maritime and people-to-people exchanges as well as new opportunities in AI, semiconductors, clean energy and defence," he said. Jaishankar said he and Hyun also exchanged perspectives on the Indo-Pacific region and contemporary global developments. 'Appreciated our deepening convergences and growing engagement as our Special Strategic Partnership completes 10 years," he added. In his opening remarks at the meeting, Jaishankar also thanked Seoul for its condemnation of the horrific April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The external affairs minister also made a mention of Seoul's support to an Indian parliamentary delegation that visited South Korea in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. 'You have been barely a month in the job (as the foreign minister), the fact that you are here literally a day after your National Day, and our National Day, says a lot really about the value we attach to the relationship," Jaishankar said. The India-South Korea ties have been on an upswing in the last few years, especially in the areas of trade and defence. The MEA said Jaishankar and Hyun reaffirmed the strong and growing 'special strategic partnership" between the two countries. The partnership is rooted in shared democratic values, mutual trust, shared economic interests, and commitment to regional and global peace and stability, it said. 'The ministers also shared their assessment on regional and global issues of common interest," the MEA said in a statement. Govt slams Congress for stand on GST reforms, says it smacks of hypocrisy

New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) The government on Saturday lashed out at the opposition Congress for attempting to take credit for the biggest GST reforms, saying the party was not even present when the landmark one-nation, one-tax was passed, and its statements now smack of hypocrisy. Recalling the history of Goods and Services Tax (GST) rollout, top government sources said the Congress party when it came to power at the Centre in 2004 had the economy in the 'pink of health" but it still could not convince the states to come together for GST as their leaders lacked 'statesmanship". 'The Congress party is now desperate to take credit for our pro-poor, pro-middle class, and pro-MSME plan to slash tax rates and slabs. This is typical of Congress which has an approach of being obstructionist and is against the common man," the source said. PTI JD VJ DRR Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. ‘Why Should We Hire You', ‘Salary Expectations': Bill Gates Answers As He Dons Job Seeker Coat

Last Updated: Bill Gates wore the shoes of a job seeker at Microsoft and answered the most difficult questions asked at an interview. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates turned into a young college dropout software engineer seeking his first job at Microsoft, role-playing and facing tough questions to crack an opportunity in a dynamic job market. In 2020, during NBA star Stephen Curry's YouTube series 'State of Inspiration', Gates answered to perfection questions such as 'Why should we hire you?" and 'What are your salary expectations?" Why Should We Hire You? Answering the question, Gates mentioned his coding passion and explained how he would go about it if hired in the company. 'You should look at the codes that I've written. I write software programs way beyond any classes that I've taken. I think I've gotten better over time, so take a look at how ambitious I've been there," he said, India Today reported. 'I do think I can work well with people. I might criticise their code a little harshly, but overall, I like to be on a team. I like ambitious goals. I like thinking through how we can anticipate the future. Software is cool, and I want to be involved," Gates explained. When asked what his weaknesses were, he said that he was not natural at sales or marketing, but stressed that he would rather put his focus on product creation and definition. His honesty showed that being open in an interview can actually make you look more confident — as long as you clearly explain the value you can offer to the company. What's Your Salary Expectation? This is where interviewees get awkward and nervous about what to ask, however, Gates took on the question with smartness and said, 'I hope the option package is good. I'm able to take a risk, and I think the company has a great future, so I prefer to get stock options even more than cash compensation. I hear some other companies are paying a lot, but treat me fairly and emphasise the options." view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
