'...Of Natural Causes': British Coroner's Report Confirms Reason Behind Sunjay Kapur's Death
The Surrey Coroner's office stated that the investigation into Sunjay Kapur's death "has revealed that he died of natural causes".
Businessman Sunjay Kapur, who died last month while playing polo in London, died of natural causes, British medical authorities said in a letter to his wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur, on Sunday.
The Surrey Coroner's office stated that the investigation into Sunjay Kapur's death 'has revealed that he died of natural causes" and listed left ventricular hypertrophy and ischemic heart disease as the causes of death.
The left ventricular hypertrophy is a condition in which the muscular wall of the heart's left ventricle thickens, making it harder for blood to be pumped effectively. The condition often develops when the heart is working harder than normal or because of higher blood pressure.
Meanwhile, ischemic heart disease involves a condition in which the heart muscle doesn't receive enough blood and oxygen, usually due to narrowed arteries.
The coroner's office in its report, mentioned, 'In light of this, the investigation has now been discontinued pursuant to Section 4 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009… there will be no need for an inquest."
NDTV reported. They added that Rani Kapur's subsequent claims – that he was 'murdered as part of a transnational conspiracy' are bewildering.
Notably, Rani Kapur last week wrote to Surrey Police and said she has 'credible and concerning evidence… that suggests that her son's death may not have been accidental or natural, but may have involved foul play…"
Rani Kapur's letter gained massive public attention, pointing towards a family dispute. This started with her e-mail to the board of Sona Comstar demanding that it postpone an annual general meeting. She identified herself as the 'majority shareholder of the Sona Group', which includes Sona Comstar and Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd and alleged she had been 'compelled to sign documents" while she was grieving for her son.
She also questioned the decision to appoint 'certain people (i.e., Priya Sachdev Kapur)". In fact, she also highlighted 'gross illegalities" in company affairs.
Soon after Rani Kapur's statement, the company responded and stated that Ms Kapur is not a shareholder, majority or otherwise, and had not been one since 2019. The company said in May 2019 a 'declaration of significant beneficial ownership" named Sunjay Kapur as the 'sole beneficial owner…"
The board also denied her claims that she was forced to sign documents behind closed doors. 'No documents had been signed or obtained from her since Sunjay Kapur's death," the board said.

Russian Drones Target Civilians As Putin Tightens Grip On Ukraine's Kherson
Last Updated: Over the past week, Russian forces have damaged a key bridge connecting Kherson's main city with the island district of Korabel, sparking a large-scale evacuation effort Russia has intensified its drone campaign in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, targeting civilian areas with near-daily strikes as it attempts to tighten control over the region. The renewed assault has forced the evacuation of hundreds of residents and drawn sharp criticism from local officials and international observers. Over the past week, Russian forces have damaged a key bridge connecting Kherson's main city with the island district of Korabel, sparking a large-scale evacuation effort. Around 1,800 civilians remain on the island, and Ukrainian rescuers reported removing more than 900 by midweek. Although the evacuation convoys were temporarily spared from drone attacks, the rest of the city continues to endure unrelenting strikes. Ukrainian officials accuse Russia of deliberately targeting civilians using drones. Yaroslav Shanko, head of Kherson's city military administration, speaking to CNN, said, 'They absolutely do not care what the targets are." 'Talking about any humanity from the Russians is absolutely pointless. Strikes on the community and the city are constant," Shanko added. Another resident, Nina, 85, fled Korabel in 35°C heat with the help of volunteers. Separated from her belongings, she stood with a crutch at an aid point. 'There is no plan, I will live where they put me," she said. 'I am on one leg. I am so tired of this shooting that my nerves can't take it anymore." Drone strikes have become a defining feature of Russia's war tactics in Kherson. Local hospitals are overwhelmed, treating dozens of injuries from recent shelling and drone attacks. According to Human Rights Watch (HRW), these attacks are not isolated. A report published in January accused Russia of routinely using commercially available quadcopter drones—many made domestically or in China—to hunt and harm civilians. The NGO stated that dozens have been killed and hundreds injured in clear violations of international law. 'Russian drone operators are able to track their targets, with high-resolution video feeds, leaving little doubt that the intent is to kill, maim, and terrify civilians," Belkis Wille, director on arms and conflict at HRW, had said. Last Updated: Rana, a Pakistani-Canadian national, is a close associate of 26/11 conspirator David Coleman Headley alias Dawood Gilani Delhi's Patiala House Court on Thursday allowed 26/11 Mumbai attack accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana to speak to family members. Authorities of Tihar jail in New Delhi, where Rana is lodged, had earlier opposed his plea over security concerns. Rana told the court that he needs to consult his family before deciding whether to change his legal aid counsel, and requested a one-time phone call for that purpose. This was not the first time Rana had sought permission to speak with his family. An earlier similar plea had been accepted, allowing him to make a one-time phone call. Who Is Tahawwur Rana? Rana, a Pakistani-Canadian national and a close associate of 26/11 conspirator David Coleman Headley alias Dawood Gilani, was extradited to India earlier this year after the US Supreme Court rejected his review petition on April 4. Rana's involvement in the 2008 Mumbai attacks places him among the most high-profile accused. On November 26, 2008, a group of 10 Pakistani terrorists went on a rampage, carrying out attacks on a railway station, two luxury hotels, and a Jewish centre, sneaking into India's financial capital through the sea route. A total of 166 people were killed in the assault that lasted for nearly 60 hours. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Who Is Salman Iftikhar? Pakistani Businessman Jailed Over Rape Threat To Air Hostess
Salman Iftikhar, a Pakistan-origin businessman in London, was sentenced to 15 months for abusing a Virgin Atlantic flight attendant. He has a criminal record spanning two decades. Salman Iftikhar is a Pakistan-origin businessman based in London who hit headlines two years ago for his abusive behaviour towards a Virgin Atlantic flight attendant during a first-class flight from London Heathrow to Lahore. He was recently sentenced to 15 months in prison in connection with the incident. According to his LinkedIn profile, Iftikhar (37) is the founder and director of Staffing Match, a UK-based recruitment company. Media reports describe him as leading a lavish lifestyle, residing in a £2 million home and owning a fleet of luxury vehicles. The court was told that Iftikhar has a criminal record spanning over two decades, with six previous convictions related to 15 offences, according to a report in NDTV. These offences include a common assault charge in 2004 and a drink-driving conviction in 2008. Further, in 2021, he was fined £3,000 after being caught driving his Rolls-Royce under the influence of alcohol and cannabis. NDTV, citing local reports, mentioned Iftikhar reportedly wore a grey suit paired with a pink shirt and yellow tie during his court appearance. He broke down in tears as he was sentenced to 15 months in jail. A father of three and husband to two wives, Iftikhar was travelling in the first-class section on February 7, 2023 when he became enraged after being asked to stop taking ice from the onboard bar. Iftikhar, who had been consuming champagne as he travelled with his wife Erum Salman and their three children, verbally abused and threatened a flight attendent saying she would be dragged out of her hotel room, gang raped and set on fire. The entire incident was captured on camera by a co-passenger. The video showed Iftikhar accusing the flight attendant of being a racist. In the video, he was heard saying, 'You called me a Pa-i in front of everybody." When cabin crew asked him to return to his seat, Iftikhar replied, 'Don't tell me what to do you racist f—ing b–ch. I know where you are from in Cardiff." Isleworth Crown Court heard the case as Prosecutor Abdul Kapadia said Iftikhar's behaviour even forced the cabin crew to discuss diverting the plane to Turkey, the report further mentioned. However, the plane was not diverted and landed in Pakistan. The 37-year-old was arrested a year later, on March 16, 2024 at his home in Iver in England's Buckinghamshire. As per prosecutor Abdul Kapadia, Iftikhar knew the specific hotel, but also the hotel room numbers, and threatened the cabin crew. 'He told [the stewardess]: 'You will be dead on the floor of your hotel'." 'You will be dragged by your hair from your room and gang raped and set on fire," Kapadia said, citing Iftikhar. The victim, who was present in the court during the hearing, said: 'I am a strong, brave, happy stewardess, and loved my job… I was working when all flights were grounded on 9/11, and I've even flown into a warzone. But this incident has broken me." view comments Location : London, United Kingdom (UK) First Published: August 07, 2025, 16:41 IST News world Who Is Salman Iftikhar?
