Housefull 5 team's Pune event turns chaotic, Akshay Kumar requests crowd to calm down
The cast of the upcoming comedy film Housefull 5, including Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Soundarya Sharma, and Fardeen Khan, travelled to Pune on Sunday for a promotional event. The fan gathering, held at a popular city mall, quickly turned chaotic as thousands of fans showed up, leading to a near-stampede situation.
As the actors took the stage, excitement surged through the packed mall. Fans filled every corner — from the event zone to the upper floors and balconies. Videos now circulating on social media show emotional scenes, with young girls in tears and attendees at the back struggling to breathe and find space.
Amid the rising tension, Akshay Kumar took charge. From the stage, he folded his hands and made a heartfelt appeal in Hindi, 'Haath jod ke binti karta hu, yaha auratein hai, bacche hai, please dhakka-dhukki mat kariye (I fold my hands and request you — there are women and children here, please don't push or shove.)' His calm yet firm message helped restore order.
Once the situation was under control, the event continued as planned. The stars interacted with fans, danced, and even played phoogdi, a traditional game, spreading joy and laughter.
Despite the rocky start, the Housefull 5 team managed to leave fans delighted, though the incident has raised concerns about crowd management and safety at such large-scale promotions.
Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, 'Housefull 5' stars Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir.
The makers had dropped a teaser on April 30, marking 15 years of the Housefull series. It featured a new story, set on a fancy cruise ship and a murder mystery.

Sara Ali Khan says she 'dehumanised' Alia Bhatt, confesses being jealous of her when she won a National Award: 'We don't see what goes behind it'
Sara Ali Khan who was last seen in 'Skyforce' is gearing up for the release of her next, ' Dino' which also stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Sheikh. Sara who made her debut with 'Kedarnath' has now confessed in an interview that she was envious of Alia Bhatt when she won her first National Award for 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'. However, Sara is courageous enough to admit to her feelings and point out how she was wrong. She opened up on it in an interview with NDTV, "When Alia got the National Award, I was like, 'God, she got it, she has a kid also, her life is set'. But I don't know what she went through to get that. I, as an actor, dehumanised her.' She added further, 'You don't know, she must have had challenges and disappointments too, to reach where she has. But I didn't realise what went into it. There are two sides to every coin.' The actress admitted how being envious is wrong as one sees the success of a person but not what went behind it. She added, "Most often, when we are envious of other people, we feel so without all the information. We are envious because we just see that success and then we want that. We don't see what goes behind it; we never see it. Envy means blindness.' ' Dino' directed by Anurag Basu is set to hit the screens on July 4. After Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi also advocates for reasonable work hours: 'I'm learning to politely say no. Nahi, itna hi hoga'
Deepika Padukone was approached for Prabhas starrer 'Spirit' directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga , however, reports suggested that the actress had some demands which the makers couldn't comply with. Hence, eventually Triptii Dimri was cast. Reports suggested that one of Deepika's condition was reasonable working hours. The actress had reportedly asked for eight-hour shift and not beyond that, as she's a new mom to baby Dua Padukone Singh. After Deepika's demand for reasonable work hours and proper work-life balance, several other actors have also spoken in her favour and echoed similar sentiments. Actor Pankaj Tripathi has also advocated for reasonable working hours and said that he's consntantly working sometimes for 16-18 hours. He said in an interview with 'The Hollywood Reporter India', "Right now, I'm practicing saying 'no.' Because everyone should know where the boundary is – that this is the line, and beyond this, it's a polite 'no.'" He added further, "Kaam mein khiche jaa raha hai. 16 ghanta-18 ghanta ho gaya main laga hua hu. Main bol bhi raha hu, actor jaa chuka hai. Labour ruka hua hai. (The work hours are getting stretched. I am working 16–18 hours straight. I'm even saying, the actor has left, the labourers are still waiting)." The 'OMG 2' star further added that he's now learning to politely say no rather than stretch himself beyond a point. He said, "Phir laga nahi, abhi toh aap vinamrata purvak bol dijiye ki 'Nahi, itna hi hoga. Humne commit ye kiya tha, commitment humari poori ho gayi. Ab dhanyavaad. Jo bacha hai, kal karenge.' ( At this point, you should just politely say, 'No, this is all that can be done. This is what we committed to, and we've fulfilled that commitment. Thank you. Whatever is left, we'll do tomorrow')." Meanwhile, film-maker Mani Ratnam spoke in Deepika's favour. He said during a chat with News18 Showsha, 'I think it is a rightful demand. I'm glad she's in a position to ask for it. I think as a filmmaker, you will take that into consideration when you cast. It is not an unreasonable thing to ask, but an absolute necessity. I think that should be the priority. You have to acknowledge that, understand it and work around it." Ajay Devgn who is also a producer recently said that the right film-makers will have no problem with this eight hour shift demand and will happily agree. My Kannappa moment is my father, says actor Vishnu Manchu
Actor Vishnu Manchu, who plays the titular role in director Mukesh Kumar Singh 's eagerly-awaited pan Indian period film 'Kannappa', has now shared his 'Kannappa moment' and asked fans and followers on his social media to share theirs. Taking to his X timeline on Tuesday, Vishnu Manchu posted a video of himself addressing fans and followers. Vishnu said, "I am making a movie called 'Kannappa'. Kannappa is one of Lord Shiva's greatest devotees. Kannappa, when put to test by Lord Shiva, gave both his eyes to Shiva. And if need be, he would have probably given his own life to Shiva. That was his unconditional love to the Parameshwara." The actor added, "Even in our life, we would have probably had a moment like that -- like either to our father, mother, our children or wife or friend. There would be a moment where we would say, 'I won't do anything. I will just give up my life for them'. Likewise, there would be people in our lives who will not bat an eyelid to do anything for us. "For me, my Kannappa moment is my father. My father makes so many sacrifices. He compromised so much and with all his hard work, he raised his children -- all of us -- with so much comfort," he said and pointed out that if he had turned an actor and was sitting and talking to audiences today, it was because of the innumerous sacrifices his father had made. "Today, as a father, I don't know if I will be able to make so many sacrifices for my kids unconditionally. He (father) is my hero. Do share your Kannappa story and we will show the world your heroes." Scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on June 27, Kannappa has triggered huge expectations in fans and film buffs. Vishnu Manchu takes center stage as Thinnadu(Kannappa), the fearless warrior-turned-devotee who transforms into the ultimate devotee of Lord Shiva in this film. Akshay Kumar essays the role of Lord Shiva, while Mohanlal commands attention as Kirata. Prabhas sets the stage for an unforgettable cinematic experience with his role of Rudra. Talking about the film, Vishnu Manchu, had, in a statement earlier, said, "This film is incredibly close to my heart. It brings to life a historical tale that is often referred to as mythology. By Lord Shiva's blessings, everything has fallen into place, from the breathtaking locations to the incredible star cast." Director Mukesh Kumar Singh said, "'Kannappa' is more than just a story; it is a tribute to faith, devotion, and the power of transformation. Every frame has been meticulously crafted to bring this legendary tale to life in a way that resonates with modern audiences while staying true to its roots. We are excited for the world to experience the grandeur of 'Kannappa'." Check out our list of the latest Hindi , English , Tamil , Telugu , Malayalam , and Kannada movies .
