Ahd Foundation provides financial support to Fak-Kurbah initiative

Muscat: Ahd Foundation has provided financial support to the Fak-Kurbah humanitarian initiative, now distributing aid through its 20th edition in 2025.
Fak-Kurbah initiative, sponsored by the Omani Lawyers Association, contributes to the release of insolvent people in all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
The initiative's support, which absolves some insolvents held on civil, commercial, legal, or labour cases, seeks to enhance the values ​​of solidarity and cooperation among members of society. It activates partnership and augments the standards of social responsibility among institutions.
Fak-Kurbah initiative has been lending support to the needy since 2012. It contributed to the release of more than 7,110 insolvents so far.
Donations can be made to Fak-Kurbah electronically through the initiative's website 'www.fakkrba.om' and through the initiative's bank account, in addition to donating through the 'Thawani' application.

During a tour of Thawani's headquarters, His Highness Bilarab was introduced to the company's specialised services, including smartphone payment solutions, biometric payment technologies utilising facial recognition and palm print authentication, as well as the deployment of artificial intelligence, deep learning, and secure payment card systems. The company also showcased its most prominent achievements, such as securing the Innovation Unit Award for Entrepreneurship in 2020 and the title of Best FinTech Company in the Middle East for 2024. In addition, Thawani outlined its ambitious plans for regional and international expansion, reinforcing the growing influence of Omani startups on the global stage. His Highness Bilarab commended Thawani for its success in leveraging modern technologies to strengthen the digital payments and collections ecosystem in the Sultanate. He underscored the importance of startups continually developing their capabilities and staying abreast of the latest global innovations. Accompanying His Highness during the visit were H E Eng Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. H E Dr Saif bin Abdullah al Hadabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation for Scientific Research and Innovation, Eng Said bin Abdullah al Mandhari, CEO of the Omani Information and Communications Technology Group (Ithkaa) along with members of the Supervisory Committee of the Promising Omani Startups Programme.

MUSCAT: The 12th Fak Kurba Initiative has successfully secured the release of 999 financially distressed individuals since its launch before Ramadhan. This edition, launched on February 25, under the auspices of Dr Hamad bin Hamdan al Rubaie, Chairman of the Omani Lawyers Association (OLA), has so far secured the release of more than 8,000 individuals over the years. Dr Al Rubaie affirmed that the efforts of those involved in the initiative are ongoing to secure the release of more cases. He highlighted the significant support the initiative has been receiving from institutions, companies and individuals. "And this year, the initiative aimed to secure the release of as many individuals who are detained for small financial offences with the participation of community members and various institutions from across the country," he said. Al Rubaei thanked all supporters who have contributed to the initiative's success. Al Rubaie highlighted that since its inception, the initiative has embodied the noble values and objectives upheld by Omani society. It reflects a remarkable story of cooperation and solidarity among individuals, civil institutions, and official entities. "This has been evident in the statistics and achievements recorded throughout previous editions, as well as assisting as many deserving individuals as possible." Most of the people who were acquitted of minor and unintentional financial offences in the past 12 years, were those who were facing legal proceedings or detained for financial offences. He further said that the initiative has succeeded in securing the release of all eligible cases in the Governorate of Dhofar. "In 2024 alone, we managed to secure the release of 1,219 people detained for financial offences in various jails of Oman or were facing legal proceedings in different courts of the country," he said.
