Pakistan rejects Indian minister's remarks
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has categorically rejected the irresponsible remarks made by the external affairs minister (EAM) of India during different media engagements in Brussels.
The discourse of top diplomats should aim to promote peace and harmony, rather than producing bellicose punch lines, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said in a statement on Wednesday.
'The tone and tenor of a foreign minister should be commensurate with his dignified status,' he added.
For last several years, the spokesperson remarked 'India has been engaged in a malicious campaign to mislead the international community through a fictitious narrative of victim hood.'

However, Ambassador Khan pointed out 'India's continued anti-Pakistan diatribe cannot hide its sponsorship of terrorism beyond its borders, nor can it cover up the state-sanctioned oppression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Instead of pointing fingers at others, India should introspect on its own involvement in terrorism, subversion and targeted assassinations.
'India must also desist from concocting misleading narratives to justify its recent aggressive actions. Pakistan believes in peaceful coexistence, dialogue and diplomacy. However, it stands resolute in its intent and ability to safeguard its sovereignty against any aggression, as exemplified by its robust response to India's reckless strikes, last month.'
The spokesperson elaborated narrative emerging from India betrays sheer frustration, following an unsuccessful military adventure against Pakistan. 'The Indian leaders would be well-advised to improve the standard of their discourse and discard their obsession with Pakistan,' he said, adding the history will judge not by who shouted the loudest — but by who acted the wisest.
It is worth mentioning that during his recent visit to Brussels, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar issued a strong warning to Pakistan, stating India's preparedness to conduct strikes within Pakistani territory in response to terrorist provocations.
'We will go deep into Pakistan, India won't hold back now,' Jaishankar said this during his several meetings with EU leaders.
He has also accused Pakistan of training 'thousands' of terrorists to deploy them across the border.
The EAM's remarks came weeks after Pakistan's befitting response to India's naked aggression on May 7 and 10 respectively.

Finance Bill: FPCCI demands withdrawal of anti-business measures
KARACHI: On behalf of the entire business, industry and trade community of Pakistan Atif Ikram Sheikh, President FPCCI, has demanded that the government should withdraw harsh and anti-business taxation measures from the Finance Bill before it is passed through the parliament. What the country needs are a pro-business, investment-friendly and growth-oriented fiscal policy framework as the economy has stabilized and poised for growth, he added. Atif Ikram Sheikh maintained that the tax collection target can only be achieved if industrialists and exporters are taken onboard through a comprehensive consultative process. However, he lamented, budget misses the measures needed to enable the business community to materialize the vision of PM to achieve export-led growth. He maintained that sweeping discretionary authorities given to the taxmen would be detrimental to business and investor confidence in the country – and, will give rise to harassment, corruption and maladministration. FPCCI Chief elaborated that it is an established fact and practice globally that the more a tax collector is allowed to intervene or interact with the taxpayer, the more it is likely to undermine the principles of fairness, transparency and impartiality due to increased role of human-to-human interaction and human judgement becomes a nuisance. Therefore, we do not need to reinvent the wheel in this matter, he added. Atif Ikram Sheikh appreciated the reduction in super tax; downward rationalization of tax slabs for salaried individuals; simplification of income tax return form for salaried class and SMEs – as it was one of FPCCI's longstanding demands – and the much needed increase in the defence spending to ensure geo-economics, trade routes, supply lines and geostrategic security and integrity of the country. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, SVP FPCCI, demanded that fixed tax regime (FTR) should be restored for exporters in its original form and shape for a long-term duration to bring clarity, certainty and consistency in the taxation policies. We can only attract FDI and domestic investment, if we remain competitive as a country, he added. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon highlighted that instead of broadening Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS) through including local manufacturers in its scope – in line with the aggregated feedback of the all sectors and industries through the apex trade bodies' platform of FPCCI – the government has imposed 18% sales tax on raw materials; which will result in increased cost of production; supply line disruptions and lack of competitiveness in the regional and international markets for Pakistani products. SVP FPCCI also expressed his resentment that FPCCI's recommendation to bring special incentives packages for the IT & ITeS; Mines & Minerals and Fishing industries in the Federal Budget 2025 – 26 has been ignored. Bilawal-led MPs reach Brussels to counter Indian narrative
BRUSSELS: Pakistan's diplomatic delegation led by former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has reached Brussels, the European Union headquarters after successful visits to Washington, New York and London. The purpose of the visit of the delegation appointed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is to present Pakistan's position on the recent tensions with India and highlight the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the wishes of the Kashmiri people, a news release said Thursday. The delegation will hold meetings with senior officials of the European Union and Belgium. On arrival in Brussels, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Pakistan's Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg Rahim Hayat Qureshi and officials posted at the Pakistani Embassy. The parliamentary delegation will inform the European authorities about India's anti-Pakistan intentions and aggressive actions. It will give an effective response to the 'Indian disinformation campaign' regarding India's aggression and the Indo-Pakistan conflict. Along with the European authorities, the parliamentary delegation is also scheduled to meet leading European think tanks and international media representatives in Brussels. Other members of the delegation include Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Harmony Dr Musadik Masood Malik; Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Harmony and former Minister for Information and Climate Change Senator Sherry Rehman; Chairperson of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and former Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar; former Minister for Commerce, Defence and Foreign Affairs Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan; MQM's Parliamentary Leader in the Senate and former Minister for Maritime Affairs Senator Syed Faisal Ali Sabzwari. The former FM further added that the US has observed up close how Pakistan has taken action against all extremist groups. He also underlined Pakistan's compliance with international standards, saying, 'Pakistan has completed the entire FATF process.' Earlier, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari called on the UK's government to continue playing a proactive role in promoting de-escalation and facilitating dialogue between Pakistan and India. He was talking to UK's Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Pakistan Hamish Falconer in London, while leading high-level parliamentary delegation of Pakistan. The discussions focused on addressing escalating regional tensions following recent Indian military provocations. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari commended the UK's efforts and statements by its leadership on the importance of restraint, engagement, dialogue and diplomatic path forward.
