Lumsden sees 11th edition of Caesar Fest, dill pickle beer labelled as highlight drink
CTV News6 hours ago
Fans of Caesars made their way to Last Mountain Distillery in Lumsden on Saturday for their 11th annual Caesar Fest.
Caesar Fest has been a staple of the distillery since it opened 15 years ago, with many returning customers. This year marks the 11th time the fest has been hosted. However, this was the first time it was hosted merely inside due to weather.
Running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., organizers incorporated games and mini events within the day. In the past, they've had celebrity pickle eating contests. This year, organizers incorporated Plinko as well as a few rounds of trivia.
Meredith Schmidt, the founder of Last Mountain Distillery, says it's nice to see returning faces every year to enjoy one of their favourite drinks.
'Caesar is basically like a meal in a glass, it's kind of your savory drink,' she explained. 'You've got tomato, you've got salt. I think one of the best parts of Caesar's is coming up with the garnish that you put on top.'
Popular drinks on Saturday included the dill pickle beer and the dill pickle vodka. Customers could also visit a bar of garnishes to pair with their drink.
'We have like a huge, long bar of garnishes that people can pick what they want to put on top because it's really like the ultimate compliment to the Caesar and the drink itself,' Schmidt said. 'With the savory drink, you drink it in the morning, you drink it in the afternoon, you drink it at night, you can drink at any time of the day.'
The festival also saw local items sold in booths throughout the day.
