NASCAR driver's victory celebration goes horribly wrong as budding star, 19, is rushed to the hospital
The promising 19-year-old driver won the NASCAR Xfinity Series Mission 200 in Watkins Glen, New York on Saturday, surviving 82 laps against 37 other cars without incident.
Things turned far more dangerous for Zilisch in victory lane afterwards as the North Carolina native struggled to extract himself from his No. 88 Chevrolet.
As he attempted to hoist himself onto the roof of the car while holding a drink sponsor's can, Zilisch slipped. Although he nearly caught himself, Zilisch foot was still stuck inside his driver's side window, preventing a clean escape.
Instead, Zilisch came crashing down to the pavement, where he lay motionless as horrified onlookers slowly moved in to check on him.
'Thank you everybody for reaching out today,' Zilisch has since written on X. 'I'm out of the hospital and getting better already. Thankfully, CT scans for my head are clear, I just have a broken collarbone. Thankful for all the medics for quick attention and grateful it wasn't any worse.'

Texans place TE Brevin Jordan (knee) on injured reserve
August 12 - The Houston Texans placed tight end Brevin Jordan on injured reserve Tuesday, one day after he hurt his knee in practice. Multiple media reports noted that Jordan's injury is season ending. Jordan was injured after landing awkwardly in an unsuccessful attempt to reel in a seam pass from C.J. Stroud during an 11-on-11 drill during Monday's practice. Jordan initially was able to stand before falling back to the ground and grabbing his lower leg. He was then carted off the field. Jordan saw his season come to an end in Week 2 last year after tearing his ACL in a game against the Chicago Bears. "It's tough for everybody to see Brevin going down, knowing how much work he's put in to get back to this point of playing football and how excited he was to get back to playing football," Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans told reporters on Monday. Jordan, 25, has totaled 53 catches for 532 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 36 career games (12 starts) since being selected by the Texans in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Houston has Dalton Schultz and Cade Stover atop its tight end depth chart. The Texans signed offensive tackle Conor McDermott to fill the roster spot on Tuesday. McDermott, 32, last played in 2023 with the New England Patriots. He has started 17 of the 55 games in which he has played with the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets and Patriots since being selected by New England in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. --Field Level Media

Scottie Scheffler to use fill-in caddie at BMW Championship
August 12 - Scottie Scheffler will have Mike Cromie on his bag at the BMW Championship this week with his traditional caddie, Ted Scott, still tending to a personal matter. Brad Payne, the PGA Tour's chaplain, stepped in for Scott on Sunday during the final round at the FedEx St. Jude Championship after the latter departed Memphis for Louisiana to address the undisclosed personal matter. The world's top-ranked golfer, Scheffler finished T3 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, one shot out of a playoff that eventually was won by Justin Rose. Cromie has served as the caddie for six-time PGA Tour winner Chris Kirk. Kirk, however, fell short of qualifying for the BMW Championship at 51st in the FedExCup rankings -- the top 50 advanced to this week's event. --Field Level Media

Tom Brady issues warning to Bill Belichick ahead of former coach's first year at UNC
It's only a few weeks before Bill Belichick takes to the field for the first time as a college football coach. On September 1, Belichick will be running onto the field at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina as his UNC Tar Heels make their season debut against TCU. The eyes of the sports world will be watching - including Belichick's most notable former player, Tom Brady. Brady recently sat down with Fox Sports' Joel Klatt on the latest episode of 'Big Noon Conversations'. The seven-time Super Bowl winning quarterback shared what students may be able to expect from working with Belichick - but also what the coach could struggle with. 'What they're going to get is, obviously, the most prepared, the most hard-working coach that I had ever been around,' Brady revealed. 'If you go to that school, you will be prepared to play at the next level. He's going to teach you the right fundamentals, the right techniques. He's going to have a high expectation for you, and you're going to develop a lot. That's what I know. 'I think the challenge for him is he's dealing with a lot of probably underdeveloped players, because he's dealt with guys that are four, five, six years further along than what he's normally had to deal with. 'So I think there's probably a learning curve for him, and this is just me hypothesizing. I don't have much knowledge of it, but I'm sure it's different coaching a 17 or 18-year-old than even a 22 or 23-year-old.' Additionally, Brady wondered how much information those student-athletes would be able to retain from such an experienced head coach. Brady also noted that players would not have as much time to prepare for a game as they would in the NFL. Belichick will be tasked with re-building a program that went 6-7 last season - one which ended in a loss to UConn in the Fenway Bowl. He'll be hoping to transform the Tar Heels football program into a perennial contender - something the team has never truly achieved in its history.
