Elon Musk Rebrands Himself as ‘Groklon Rust' on X, Sparking Fresh Speculation
Elon Musk has once again made waves on social media by changing his display name on X (formerly Twitter). The tech mogul, known for his unpredictable online presence, now goes by 'Groklon Rust', a move that has left followers guessing about its meaning and intent.
The new name appears to be a mashup of two notable elements. 'Grok' is the AI chatbot developed by Musk's artificial intelligence venture, xAI. The term 'Rust' likely refers to the Rust programming language, which is widely respected for its performance and safety and is reportedly used in xAI's tech stack. This combination hints at Musk's continued focus on AI development and infrastructure.
But there's another twist: 'Groklon Rust' also happens to be the name of a meme coin circulating on the Solana blockchain. The token is currently traded on decentralized platforms like Raydium, PumpSwap, and Meteora, raising speculation about whether Musk's name change was a playful nod to the coin—or something more strategic.
The timing of this name change is also noteworthy. It follows Musk's announcement of a major update to X's recommendation algorithm. As part of the upgrade, Musk revealed that a 'lightweight version' of Grok would be integrated into the platform to refine user engagement and content personalisation.
This isn't Musk's first time experimenting with his online persona. Earlier this year, he briefly adopted the name 'Kekius Maximus' and updated his profile picture to feature Pepe the Frog holding a video game joystick—an image deeply embedded in internet meme culture. Interestingly, Kekius Maximus (KEKIUS) also turned out to be a meme cryptocurrency. As of December 27, 2024, KEKIUS was trading at about $0.005667—a staggering 497.56% increase in just 24 hours.

For the uninitiated, the two powerful men had a dirty public fallout after the US President publicly criticized the world's richest man and his former pal at a White House press briefing, backing legislation that could severely impact the electric vehicle industry. Logging into the website he owns, Musk took to X and responded to the President he sounded 'ungrateful" after the techie backed Trump both strategically and financially during the 2024 US Presidential elections. One thing led to another and Musk had a meltdown of epic proportions online for the world to witness. Several political and personal attacks were directly aimed at Trump but at some point in the day, Musk had a divine intervention. A Shame An X user who goes by the handle @Fab25june responded to one of Musk's (deleted) posts stating that the Tesla chief had to stop the back and forth. The unknown X user was responding to Musk's threat to 'decommission" SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft that carries astronauts and essential supplies to the International Space Station. For context, Musk's post was in response to Trump's threat to chop federal contracts with his companies. The X user, tired of the standoff between the two powerful men, came in to save the day. 'This is a shame this back and forth. You are both better than this. Cool off and take a step back for a couple days," the user wrote. Musk, realising that his retaliation could have a major impact on space exploration with NASA being directly affected by his actions, took a breather and called it a day. 'Good advice. Ok, we won't decommission Dragon," a humbled down Musk wrote in response. Vivek Ramaswamy's photo with kids faces racist slur again: 'Why don't Americans deport this Indian?'
A heartwarming picture of Indian-origin Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy was bombarded with racist and anti-immigrant comments by X users, as the MAGA world imploded with Donald Trump and Elon Musk attacking each other in public. Vivek Ramaswamy was closely aligned with the MAGA movement until Christmas 2024, when he criticised aspects of American culture and strongly reaffirmed his support for the H-1B visa programme. At the time, he was serving as co-chief of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency. While Musk initially backed Ramaswamy's stance on H-1B visas, he reportedly disapproved of his subsequent actions. As a result, Ramaswamy stepped down from DOGE even before Donald Trump's inauguration. Ramaswamy had also put his hat in the ring for the US presidential polls but later withdrew from the race, despite backing from both Musk and Trump. As the two heavyweights locked horns on social media, Ramaswamy posted a photo carrying his two children — Karthik and Arjun — and wrote: "It's why we do it." The post had no connection with the MAGA crisis but was still met with vicious trolling. However, the comment section quickly turned hostile, with many users mocking Ramaswamy — some pointing out that 'Americans wear socks inside shoes,' likely referencing an earlier interview where he appeared barefoot. One user even asked Grok to change the background of the photo to a 'garbage-filled street in India.' "Why don't Americans deport this Indian?" one asked.
