AUS T20 and ODI squad for SA series: Mitchell Owen rewarded for fine form; Hazlewood, Head return
The 23-year-old all-rounder, who has yet to play a one-day international, scored 125 runs and took two wickets as Australia swept West Indies in all five T20Is in the Caribbean this month.
Mitch Marsh captains both T20 and ODI squads in the absence of regular 50-overs skipper Pat Cummins, who will sit out the series with fellow quick Mitch Starc.
Paceman Josh Hazlewood and batter Travis Head return to both squads as Australia continues its preparations for the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka early next year.
Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell have both retired from ODIs, but the latter was named in the T20 squad, which will face South Africa in two matches in Darwin and another in Cairns.

'As we build towards the T20 World Cup, the flexibility and depth shown in the West Indies, outside of the obvious results, has been a huge positive,' said chief selector George Bailey.
'The flexibility within the batting order and the ability of bowlers to bowl in different stages of the innings were particularly pleasing to see.'
Wicketkeeper Alex Carey and top-order batsman Marnus Labuschagne were included in the ODI squad only, along with fast bowlers Xavier Bartlett and Lance Morris.
The ODI series takes place after the completion of the T20Is, kicking off in Cairns with the last two matches at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.

Raksha Bandhan 2025: How rakhis and love shaped Harbhajan Singh's longest innings
From stadium cheers to family laughter in Jalandhar, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh says one thing has never changed — the love of his five sisters. For the prolific off-spinner, Raksha Bandhan has always been a special occasion, no matter where cricket took him. Harbhajan Singh talks about his memories with his sisters. 'I love the occasion,' he says at the outset. 'By God's grace, I have five sisters, and ever since I was a kid, it was a special occasion. My entire aim used to be to ensure that my hand looked full with rakhis — and I requested all my sisters to get big rakhis, so they would solve the purpose,' adds Harbhajan. The 45-year-old credits much of his long cricketing career to their support. 'One of the biggest reasons I played so long for India is because of my family… even when I was not in the best of forms, they would help me overcome those times,' he recalls, remembering the emotional hugs after India's 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup wins. His elder sister Bakshish Kaur says pampering their only brother came naturally . 'He really loved to see his arms full of rakhis, so we used to get big- big rakhis for him,' she laughs addint that she is proud of the heights achieved by her brother. 'Even today, we can't put into words how proud we are of him,' she says. Even when matches kept him away from home during the festival, Harbhajan tied every rakhi sent to him and made sure to share pictures with his sisters. Now, he marks the day with his children, passing on the same values he grew up with. 'I want to teach my son that not just brothers, but even sisters can take care of their brothers — just like mine did,' he says.

Hes A Bit Of A Clown: Moeen Ali Hits Back At David Warner For His Surfboard Remark On Joe Root
Former England spinner Moeen Ali has reacted to ex-Australia opener David Warner's comments on Joe Root's batting technique ahead of the upcoming Ashes series Down Under. Recently, Warner had said that Root needs to "take the surfboard off his front leg" to succeed in the upcoming Ashes series, while adding that with the kind of technique he has, Josh Hazlewood would dismiss England star easily. 'The way that he brings down his bat playing on Australian wickets, it can bring him undone and I've seen it in the past," Warner said recently, on the sidelines of The Hundred. "I think he will have nightmares before he gets over there about Josh Hazlewood. A bit like me and Broady. Joe is a hell of a cricket player. Look at the runs he has scored; the second leading run-scorer in the world. But I'm sure he'd like to score a hundred in Australia. It's one that has eluded him. I think that will be on his mind, so we will have to wait and see," he added. Responding to it on the Beards Before Wicket podcast, Moeen Ali dismissed such claims and called Warner a clown. "He's just being Warner. He's a bit of a clown to be honest with you. He's trying to, obviously, get into Rooty's head, which he won't. He's not up for the whole banter thing. It's just Warner, isn't it?' ," Ali said. The former England spinner further said that Root won't get affected by these sledges and will still score a boatload of runs. "But Rooty… the guy has scored so many runs now, he's been through the whole thing and it won't effect him. India tried it and it just didn't work, clearly didn't work, because he scored loads of runs. But yeah, there's some players you can do that to and others that you can't," he said. The highly anticipated 2025-26 Men's Ashes series between Australia and England will begin on November 21, 2025 at Perth Stadium.
