NASCAR star pays emotional tribute to tragic motocross champion, 16, after he was killed in horror mid-race crash
Zingg, from Hemet, California, tragically died on June 28 as a result of injuries suffered in a crash while competing at Mammoth Mountain MX in his home state.
He was crowned a national champion in 2024, and was signed to Kawasaki's young driver program amid a promising start to his career.
Speaking to DailyMail.com, Myron Short - the founder of race organizer 2X Promotions - confirmed that Zingg died from chest injuries sustained in a crash with another driver, while he was running near the front of his race.
He added that initial reports Zingg had been run over by other riders after falling from his bike was false.
In a mark of respect for another member of the racing community, Gibbs has added a respectful tribute to Zingg on his car for this weekend's NASCAR event in Chicago.

An image has appeared on social media of Gibbs' car having a picture of Zingg and his name attached to his vehicle in a classy gesture.
In the days after his death Zingg's sister, Alexandria, admitted she has been left 'completely broken' by the tragedy in a devastating tribute to her younger brother.
She wrote: 'The things I could say. The stories I could tell. It's been a day and I feel like it's been a lifetime. My heart is completely broken.
'You used to joke that I was so old and that I'd die first, I would always joke that you were crazy and you'd be the first. Now I'm sitting here wishing with everything that I am that you were right so I'd never have to live a day without you.
'I have no idea what today, tomorrow, or the rest of my life looks like without you in it. I had everything planned. God had a different plan. I'll forever find myself longing for that last hug, that last I love you that I never got. You are a light. The vibrancy to every color in my world.
'I will forever see you in everything I do. Every time I step into the show pen it will be for you. I will work twice as hard, be twice as good, shine twice as bright, and it will never fill the space you've left but I will do my best to pick up where you left off.
'I can't believe you get to meet Jesus before me. Even now you're still kicking my butt. I am so incredibly proud of you. You were so incredible that God only needed you here for 16 years to fulfill your purpose and He just couldn't wait any longer to bring you home.
'I could write a thousand more things to you, but I'll save them for my prayers. I love you so much it's unreal. Fly high but don't go too far. I love love love you bud.'

Lenyn Sosa's big night powers White Sox over Rockies
July 6 - Lenyn Sosa homered, finished a triple shy of the cycle and drove in four runs, Michael A. Taylor also went deep and doubled and the Chicago White Sox beat the Colorado Rockies 10-3 in Denver on Saturday night. Highly touted prospect Colson Montgomery had three hits, including his first in the majors after debuting Friday. Mike Tauchman also had three hits and Brooks Baldwin contributed two hits for Chicago. White Sox starter Jonathan Cannon (3-7) allowed two runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings to earn his first victory since May 2. There was a moment of silence before the game for former White Sox pitcher Bobby Jenks, who passed away Friday. Brenton Doyle homered, Tyler Freeman had three hits to extend his on-base streak to 20 games and Yanquiel Fernandez had two hits for Colorado. German Marquez (3-10) allowed six runs on 11 hits in six innings. Both teams jumped on the starters in the first inning. Sosa and Baldwin doubled around a flyout, then Montgomery tripled to right-center field for his first career hit and RBI, giving Chicago a 2-0 lead. The Rockies responded in the bottom of the frame. Freeman led off with a single, Goodman doubled and Beck singled to bring home both runners. Cannon retired Thairo Estrada on a popout and Mickey Moniak hit into an inning-ending double play. The White Sox went back in front in the second on Tauchman's RBI single and Sosa's two-run homer to make it 5-2. It was Sosa's seventh of the season. Chicago added a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Josh Rojas before the Rockies missed two chances for big innings. They had runners on second and third with no outs in the fifth and didn't score, then loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh and again failed to cash in. The White Sox expanded the lead in the eighth on Sosa's two-run single. Doyle belted a pinch-hit homer to open the bottom of the inning, his seventh. Taylor's two-run homer in the ninth, his fifth of the season, capped the scoring. --Field Level Media

Lionel Messi left red-faced as rare blunder costs Inter Miami a goal... before he makes up for it perfectly
Lionel Messi 's rare blunder in the opening minutes of Inter Miami's game against CF Montreal left him red-faced. The living legend found a way, as he usually does, to make up for it by the game's final whistle. Messi made a back pass that hit Montreal striker Prince Owusu in stride, which he slotted home for the game's opening goal in the second minute. The Argentine legend put his head down for a few moments before showing why, even after a critical error, he can still show why he is a living legend. Inter Miami tied the game in the 33rd minute on a Tadeo Allende strike before Messi got in on the scoring himself. Messi put the Talons up 2-1 in the 40th minute, before finding the back of the net again in the 62nd to cap off the dominant 4-1 win for Inter Miami. Hardly anyone held that second-minute blunder against Messi after the game went final. The living Argentine legend made up for it by scoring a brace in Inter Miami's 4-1 win in Canada Messi just wrapped up Club World Cup duty with Inter Miami, helping the Talons become the only American team to advance out of the group stage. That will be the last high-profile international tournament he plays in until next summer's World Cup, which will also take place mainly in the United States as Argentina looks to defend its title. Messi is under contract with Inter Miami through the end of the MLS season, with a move for the living legend still on the table for the 38-year-old. However, Messi is still moving around the pitch with more ease than most will ever see. In 14 league matches this season, Messi has 12 goals and six assists for Inter Miami, including his brace on Saturday night.

'Rarely been so angry': Bayern boss Kompany seethes over Musiala injury
ATLANTA, July 6 (Reuters) - Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany said he was furious after Jamal Musiala sustained a horrific injury during the first half of their Club World Cup quarter-final defeat by Paris St Germain in Atlanta on Saturday. The 22-year-old Germany international was injured in added time before the break following a collision in PSG's penalty area. As Musiala challenged defender William Pacho for the ball, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma inadvertently rolled over Musiala's left ankle, twisting it at an alarming angle and leaving him lying in agony on the pitch. "I've rarely been so angry at halftime, not against my players. There's many things in life that are important, much more important than this. But in the end, for these guys it's their life," Kompany told reporters after the 2-0 loss. "And someone like Jamal lives for this and he came back from a setback. And then it happens in the way it happens and you feel powerless... "When I'm sat here next to you now, the thing that gets my blood still boiling at the moment, it's not the result. I understand this is football. But it's the fact that it happened to someone who, one, enjoys the game so much but also very important for us." Bayern's medical team rushed on to the pitch as Donnarumma, visibly shaken, dropped to the ground with his hands on his head in disbelief at the severity of the injury. Players from both teams formed a circle around Musiala who was carried off the field on a stretcher. The German daily Bild reported he could be sidelined for up to five months. Bayern goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer said Donnarumma's dive was "risky" and that he had spoken to his Italian counterpart after the incident. "You just accept that your opponent might get injured. It could even be a teammate," he added. "So I went over to him and said: 'Don't you want – because it was half-time anyway – don't you want to go over there? Jamal is lying there, he'll probably stay in the hospital, he has a serious injury, and I think it's only right to go over there out of respect and wish him well and just say a little sorry.' "After that, he went over to Jamal... Fairness is always important, and I would have reacted differently." After the match, Donnarumma posted on Instagram: "All my prayers and well wishes are with you Jamal."
