Edinburgh's Sir Chris Hoy forced to leave hotel room at 4am after late-night blunder
Edinburgh Olympian Sir Chris Hoy had to change hotel rooms in the early hours of the morning after receiving a rude awakening.
The Team GB icon had to leave his hotel room in Nürburg at 4am after a person in the room above left the bath running. Cyclist Sir Chris travelled to the town in western Germany, home to the legendary Nürburgring circuit, for the Ring Driver's Convention.
Sir Chris previously took up motor-racing after retiring from cycling in 2013. The Ring Drivers' Convention was held at the world-famous Nürburgring on Friday, with Sir Chris jumping into a Porsche 992 GT3 RS alongside former Top Gear host Chris Harris, reports the Mirror.

The former Olympian shared a selfie of them both on social media, captioning it: "First time on the @nuerburgring, what a flippin' place. Thought I'd jump in for a passenger lap with this guy in his 992 GT3 RS to learn the lines. Says he knows what he's doing…"
Sir Chris stayed overnight Germany on Friday, May 2, at a hotel. But he was in for a rude awakening at 4am on Saturday morning when he was forced to pack up and move.
The 49-year-old revealed his ordeal on Instagram, posting a video showing water pouring from the light fixture and pooling on the bathroom floor. The water was from the room above Sir Chris, with that guest having left their bath running.
A frustrated Sir Chris wrote: "Big shoutout to the person who left their bath running upstairs and caused me to have to move rooms at 4am."
This latest ordeal comes after Sir Chris announced in February last year that he was battling prostate cancer. A tumour was found in his shoulder, and a scan later found the primary cancer in his prostate.
It has since metastasised to his bones - including his pelvis, ribs and spine. The cancer is terminal, with the Olympic hero being given two to four years to live.
Sir Chris issued an update on his treatment last month, admitting that the diagnosis had 'hit him hard'. But the Scot insisted that he was attempting to take a positive outlook.
"When you get given a stage four diagnosis, it's hard to describe how it hits you and how much of a shock it is," he said. "It takes away all the hope, because if you've got stage one, two or three there's always hope that actually you can beat this.
"I thought: 'I'd like to do something that reflects how I'm feeling right now, that, actually, life goes on.' Actually, a lot of people are living with stage four. I've been able to get fitter in the last 18 months; post-chemo I've been able to improve.
" Cancer has taught me to try to not worry about the future. When you feel fear or stress, it's all about trying to predict the future, and you may be wasting time worrying about the wrong thing entirely and it's only going to spoil your life at the moment."

Christopher Meloni has shared his grief over losing his beloved family dog, Scotty. The Law & Order: Organized Crime star opened up about losing the 14-year-old pet in a heartfelt Instagram post. "He began as a rescue pup from Kentucky," Christopher, 64, wrote alongside a carousel of photos of Chris, 64, his wife Doris Sherman Williams and their children Sophia, 24, and Dante, 21, enjoying happier times with Scotty. "The kids named him Scotty, I wanted to name him kids won." Chris added he had given the much-loved Scotty several nicknames over the years. "My 'pet' name for him was Little Mister, pronounced Lidder Midder," the actor wrote. Heather Locklear's Home Is Her ‘Sanctuary' as She Enjoys a ‘Peaceful Life' After Years of Struggles
Heather Locklear is finding peace at her beautiful Los Angeles mansion and friends are praising the Melrose Place alum for keeping her life on track through faith, courage and sheer willpower, sources exclusively tell In Touch. 'Heather is incredibly happy with her daughter, Ava, who is the light of her life, and she has her little Maltese dog, Mister, with her at all times too,' insiders close to the actress, 63, say. Sources tell In Touch that Heather has been enjoying this sweet spot now that her 'life is so peaceful, but it's been hard won so she does tend to be very protective of it.' 'Her home is her sanctuary, and it really is a paradise. It's in the Malibu mountains, with a beautiful pool and view, and very private,' sources exclusively tell In Touch. 'She loves hosting dinners outside on her huge long table, she has a small group of trusted friends and they are around a fair amount.' It's only been a few weeks since reports surfaced claiming that Heather and fiancé Chris Heisser, who was her high school sweetheart, called it quits. While the timeline surrounding their split remains unknown, a close friend of the Game of Love star told People they have been separated for 'a while,' revealing she's in a 'great place.' Tipsters told the outlet in June 2020 that Heather and Chris, 63, got engaged earlier that year in April 'as they were celebrating her year of sobriety.' The former flames have a lot of history together, dating in high school during the '70s, before reuniting in 2017. They briefly broke up in 2019 before getting back together one year later. 'She's in the best place right now,' one pal shared in the wake of their latest split. 'Her friends and family are happy for her — good things in her future definitely.' It was further claimed they 'haven't been together for a while.' As for the reason behind their breakup, Us Weekly reported that it was 'a slow fizzle.' 'They are still friends and support each other's sobriety,' the source added. 'They are not spending as much time with each other. It's minimal. She's focusing on herself. She is sober and doing really well.' According to the report, 'Heather is single and she's ready to date again.' Another insider claimed that they both reached the decision to part ways amicably, noting, 'She hasn't seen Chris since the New Year but wishes him all the best.' The now-exes had an on-again, off-again relationship as she struggled with substance abuse and went to rehab. She completed her most recent stint in October 2019 and was ordered by a court to continue a structured out-patient care plan. Now, it appears she is making strides in her sobriety journey. Heather made a public appearance at the Calgary Expo in Canada this April, during which she spoke on a panel about her career in Hollywood. Sources exclusively tell In Touch that Heather has 'created her own world, she can go days without leaving her property and be perfectly happy.'

Edinburgh man's touching tribute for best pal after his unexpected death at 38
An Edinburgh man has reached his fundraising target as he prepares to take on a gruelling charity in memory of his friend who passed away almost seven-months-ago. Joseph Coghill, 40, from Morningside will be embarking on a 200-mile walk to raise funds for charities close to his late friends heart - DJ Jackmaster. Jack Revill was in an Ibiza hospital for two days before his death at the age of 38 back in October. He suffered an accidental head injury, with his family sharing an emotional post on Instagram. In 2022, Jack completed the Edinburgh Half Marathon - raising funds for We Are With You - an organisation that helps people affected by drugs, alcohol and mental health problems, as well as Endometriosis UK. Now, Joseph will be raising funds for the same charities in his honour. Embarking on the journey on June 12, the 40-year-old has gone sober and gave up drugs and alcohol after his friends death. Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Joseph said: "Jack was a huge part of my self-belief and my career. When I met him, I was working in Glasgow and jack knew he was always going to be a DJ - he had the confidence, the swagger and the full package really. "It's been around seven months since he died and it's awfully sad what happened. I am actually sober - I don't drink or do drugs anymore since he died. I still have a sense of anxiety and sadness but I am trying to use that energy to do something positive. "I am just trying to remember his life and not focus too much on the negative things. He was so fun and charming - he had a real heart of gold. "He was so generous and if you needed something he would always be there to help you." He added: "I am so happy that I have been able to raise a substantial amount of money - I am still fundraising because I haven't left yet. "It's so incredible, but I think I will be able to raise more. It's definitely been a lot of hard work on my end with the training and things but I am super amazed that I have been able to make this point Join Edinburgh Live's Whatsapp Community here and get the latest news sentstraight to your messages.
