Loose Women star Kaye Adams reveals warning sign that shows a panellist 'won't last' on the show
Loose Women star and original panellist Kaye Adams has revealed the one warning sign that shows a new face "won't last" on the popular daytime chat show.
In the past 25 years, the Loose Women panel has seen nearly 70 presenters take a seat at the iconic desk. However, despite the longevity of the original "fab four" - comprised of Nadia Sawalha, Jane Moore, Karren Brady, and Kaye Adams - there's one telltale sign that a new presenter might not stick around for long, according to Kaye.
During her chat on Emily Dean's Walking The Dog podcast, Kaye, who has had two lengthy stints on the show, from 1999 to 2006 and from 2013 to the present, stressed the importance of openness for those on the panel.
She admitted that she isn't a natural "oversharer," but suggested that anyone joining the show with intentions of keeping their personal life under wraps is unlikely to be asked back.
Kaye said: "Over the years, and obviously it's been a long time, and people have come in and come out, and some people have stayed the course, and other people have been [on the show] for a shorter time.
"But there have been a few sort of names who have come in, and they sit down and say 'I can't talk about this, and I can't talk about that...' And the rest of us are probably sitting there thinking, ''Well, you're not going to last!'"
Furthermore, she pointed out that panellists who hold strong opinions privately but shy away from expressing them on air don't mesh well with the ethos of Loose Women, reports Devon Live.
Kaye, who became a mother relatively late in life, concedes that she may have been a bit too candid about certain matters: "I had Charley, my first daughter, when I was 39. And I did find the transition quite tough.
"Having spent most of my adult life doing exactly what I wanted, whenever I wanted, suddenly to be responsible for this little baby, I felt pinned down."
Kaye admits that after publicly acknowledging these feelings, it was challenging when her daughter stumbled upon the quote years later and questioned her about it: "I did regret that for a while," she confessed: "But it was the truth".
Now that Kaye's daughter is 22, that's no longer a problem, she added. However, it led to an uncomfortable discussion when she was eight.
Currently, Kaye faces a different issue. Speaking on Loose Women last Summer, she disclosed: "Bonnie has gone off to Edinburgh University - she won't thank me for saying that.
"Charley is now working so she's away as well. Second one out the house is tough, I have to say I am finding it difficult. The place is too tidy, we've got too much milk in the fridge - I don't know how we're going to stop the milk order."

Loose Women star on 'worst thing' about ITV chat show - branding it 'ludicrous'
Carol McGiffin was one of Loose Women's original panellists, having first appeared on the series in 2000 before she quit in 2023 after she claimed she was 'unhappy' with her contract Loose Women's Carol McGiffin has lifted the lid on what she says was the worst part of working on the ITV talk show. The no-nonsense presenter, 65, was one of the show's original panellists, having first appeared on the series in 2000 before she left in 2023 after she claimed she was 'unhappy' with her contract. Carol, who was once married to TFI star, Chris Evans, was part of the Loose Women line-up for 20 years, on and off, and has now said that the show's 'strict dress' code left her 'exhausted'. Claiming show bosses had "ludicrous policies" for the ladies, she said: "I did Loose Women for almost 20 years and the mandated dress codes used to exhaust me." Speaking to Best magazine, she continued: "We went from wearing our own clothes to being bought stuff to adhere to ludicrous wardrobe policies like, 'No arms on show,' presumably because our ageing biceps were morphing into bingo wings, which the (male) boss at the time had decided were offensive. "Another female (!) boss once ordered all the women to wear high heels as well. I always loathed being 'dressed' or 'styled' as they preferred to call it." Carol also blasted ITV for getting rid of outfits that had "mostly" only been worn once by the presenters. She said: "You always had to be co-ordinated up to the eyeballs in nice slacks, wrap dresses or boiler suits. "It used to make me shudder, nearly as much as the insane amount of waste on unimaginable amounts of clothes that had mostly only been worn once." Carol first joined Loose Women in 2000 and remained on the show until 2013, and returned in 2018. Five years later she left the panel, claiming she was left 'upset' after being 'forced' into the decision due to being unhappy with her contract, which she claimed was "totally unjust and unworkable". Prior to Carol's departure, a disagreement is said to have broken out between the presenter and bosses at ITV over free speech and expression. During an interview with TNT talk radio, Carol said: "I always look back at when I started working in television and radio as the good old days because they were much less policed, I suppose. Much less restricted and it was a freer place to be. "When I look back at the old Loose Womens I used to do from 2000 all the way until I left in 2013, they're completely different. There is so much offence. People take so much offence at so much and they never used to." Tensions reportedly began to grow between Carol and her employer over comments she made in suggestion that the news organisation had been 'brainwashing' the public over the risks of coronavirus. The panellist also suggested that Matt Hancock attempted to import Covid patients to the UK from France to fill empty hospital beds as the pandemic was in full swing. In 2023, Carol confirmed that she would be parting ways with the ITV show after a two-month absence and insisted she was "upset" to leave.

Loose Women star admits 'I always loathed it' as she shares issue with ITV show
Loose Women presenter Carol McGiffin has hit out at ITV bosses over a rule she was forced to follow during her time on the show, which used to make her "shudder" Carol McGiffin, 64, has criticised ITV's Loose Women bosses for their approach to dressing the show's presenters. She expressed her disapproval of the enforced dress codes and how the presenters transitioned from wearing what they wanted, to being instructed on what to wear for coordination. She was also left concerned about the amount of clothing waste, claiming that some clothes were discarded even if they'd only been worn once. Carol had two stints on Loose Women, first from 2000 until 2013, and then again from 2018 until 2023. In an article for Best UK, she stated: "I did Loose Women for almost 20 years and the mandated dress codes used to exhaust me. "We went from wearing our own clothes to being bought stuff to adhere to ludicrous wardrobe policies like 'no arms on show', presumably because our ageing biceps were morphing into bingo wings. "I always loathed being 'dressed' or 'styled' as they preferred to call it. You always had to be coordinated up to the eyeballs in nice slacks, wrap dresses or boiler suits. "It used to make me shudder, nearly as much as the insane amount of waste on unimaginable amounts of clothes that had mostly only been worn once", she added. This isn't the first time Carol has spoken out about Loose Women in recent years. In a conversation with Woman's Own last year, she discussed her reasons for leaving and her feelings about the career move. She said: "I don't regret leaving, I don't fit in there anymore." Her sentiments mirror a previous statement made to OK! Magazine, where she also said: "Someone, somewhere will be offended by absolutely everything. I'd rather not be on a show that panders to that. It's boring – and I won't be told what I can or can't say." Although she has parted ways with the show, Carol remains in contact with some of her former colleagues, having warmer relationships with a select few. She explained: "I'm still very good friends with a lot of the Loose ladies... Denise Welch popped down here with Lincoln [Townley, her husband] last year and we met them for lunch. I've seen Kaye [Adams], Jane [Moore] and Nadia [Sawalha] a few times." Carol added: "Some, I have nothing in common with. As I said to them, 'You're not friends, you're just people I work with, who I really like.' Which horrified them."

Fearne Cotton admits 'I could puke' as she shares clip from original Love Island
Fearne Cotton was the host of the original iteration of Love Island, which was filmed in Fiji and featured only celebrities, including Calum Best and Rebecca Loos Fearne Cotton has left Love Island fans gobsmacked after sharing a clip of the original show, which was filmed 20 years ago. The sexy singletons series is now one of the most popular shows on ITV and filmed in Majorca, hosted by Maya Jama, with an open audition process. However, rewind 20 years and the sun-drenched show was steered by Fearne Cotton and Patrick Kielty, filmed in Fiji and featured only celebrities. Sharing footage from the O.G series, which starred the likes of Calum Best and Loose Women's Kelle Bryan, Fearne told her followers it made her want to "puke" to think it was filmed so long ago. Dressed casually in an oversized shirt and rust-coloured trousers, she said: "You may not know this, but 20 years ago...I could puke saying that...I hosted the original iteration of Love Island. There were some major differences to Love Island today. It was shot in Fiji and they were all celebrities. "We had on our series Calum Best, Kelle from Eternal, Steve-O from Jackass,...Dennis Rodman? It was the most motley crew. It was ridiculous. From what I remember there were some really lo-fi games and when I say lo-fi, I mean cheap budget. There was a bit of romance but nothing like Love Island today. People would hold hands and we'd freak out, but it was extremely of the time and very, very entertaining." Captioning the clip, she said: " Who remembers Love Island the first time round? I'm talking 20 years ago (how is that possible?) "Once again, here I am sounding like I'm in Oliver Twist with the lovely @patrickielty in Fiji. The games were basic, the romance was PG and there wasn't a bikini thong in sight. "Anyone remember the Bianca Gascoigne, Callum Best, Leo from the Streets love triangle? Another life time ago, but what a hoot." Responding to Fearne's nostalgic post, many of her followers told her they loved the original version of the show, which featured the iconic theme tune 'Wish I' by Welsh singer, Jem. Sharing their happy memories of the series with the kids TV star, one said: "I loved this! It was the best!" Another said: "Such happy memories watching this." A third shared: "Haven't watch Love Island since since". A fourth exclaimed: "Can't believe this was 20 years ago" while a third mused: "OMG, I remember this! Rebecca Loos farting and giving Calum Best the ick." Love Island was originally presented by Patrick Kielty and Kelly Brook, with Fearne taking over as female host in the second series. The first series aired in the summer of 2005, and was won by Jayne Middlemiss and Fran Cosgrave. The second series began in July 2006, dropping 'Celebrity' from its name and was won by Bianca Gascoigne and series one finalist, Calum.
