Stephen Colbert under fire for incorrect labelling of Dublin
The Wednesday star appeared on Late Night with Stephen Colbert in recent weeks, where she discussed the second season of the Netflix show and how she found filming in Ireland.
In the conversation, Jenna touched on her time living in Dublin as well as the Irish weather and our beloved Guinness. US talk show host Stephen Colbert has caused a stir amongst his Irish viewers following an interview with actress Jenna Ortega. Pic: TikTok
Jenna noted that filming in Dublin, Ireland was 'very different' to filming in Romania, where season one of the Addams Family adaptation was shot.
'That's a great town!' Stephen lauded, with Jenna agreeing before Stephen then revealed he was 'going over pretty soon again.'
Jenna responded: 'I love it there. I feel like if the weather wasn't so sh**ty, they would probably get a ton of people coming.' @colbertlateshow Jenna Ortega recalls the craics of filming @wednesdaynetflix Season 2 in Ireland. #Colbert #JennaOrtega #Wednesday ♬ original sound – colbertlateshow
The clips, which were shared to the official TikTok of Late Night with Stephen Colbert, has amassed almost half a million likes, though many have taken to the comments hitting out at the capital of Ireland being labelled a 'town.'
One said: 'Not him calling Dublin a town.'
Another wrote: 'Lol [laugh out loud] Dublin is a city not a town.' The Wednesday star appeared on Late Night with Stephen Colbert in recent weeks, where she discussed the second season of the Netflix show and how she found filming in Ireland. Pic: TikTok
A third added: 'Dublin a town omg [oh my god] I've heard it all. COUNTY!!'
Some came to Stephen's defense, noting that Dubliners would say they were 'heading into town' with one quickly pointing out 'every does that, even in Limerick city people saying going into town.'
A fourth person explained: 'Into town means going into the city centre, but we don't call the whole thing a town. Town is just another word for city centre.'
Elsewhere, Jenna expressed her love for the Irish accent as she refuted claims that it is hard to understand. She also spoke about her experience at trying Guinness.
'I remember it was so weird when I went there I didn't even like Guinness or anything like that and by the end [of filming], I was singing in a pub at two in the morning with a group of people I had never met before,' the actress shared.

Today is expected to be one of the hottest days of the heatwave. Spain's national weather agency, AEMET, issued an orange warning for extreme temperatures in the Canary Islands. The alerts cover the summits of Gran Canaria as well as the island's eastern, southern, and western areas. In addition, yellow warnings are in place across the remaining islands of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and Tenerife. In Gran Canaria, temperatures are expected to reach 37C today and tomorrow , a level considered a "significant risk" to health. On the mainland, temperatures are expected to climb even higher. In Aragon and the Basque Country, extreme red warnings have been issued for today, with temperatures expected to peak at 42C. Orange warnings are also in place across most of the country, including regions such as Andalusia, Catalonia, Madrid and Valencia. Wildfires erupt again in Spain & south of France killing at least one as tourists, hotels and beach bars evacuated In a heatwave advisory, the forecaster said: "The high level of sunshine typical of summer is causing temperatures to be higher than usual for this time of year, resulting in a heat wave. "Today, Monday the 11th, maximum temperatures are expected to continue rising, "Temperatures will continue to reach 37C-39C across the peninsular interior, also extending to the Júcar and Segura basins and the interior of the Basque Country, where temperatures could even locally exceed 40C." A red warning has also been issued for the region of Andalusia on Tueday with temperatures possibly reaching a scorching 44C. 'SEVERAL MORE DAYS' Aemet says the heatwave is expected to last until Wednesday. Forecasts for Wednesday and Thursday remain uncertain, with temperatures expected to fall on Wednesday only to pick back up again on Thursday. Aemet explained: "It cannot currently be ruled out that, despite Wednesday's drop in temperatures, the heat wave could extend for several more days, even into the end of the week, especially in the Tagus, Guadiana, Guadalquivir, and Ebro valleys." HEATING UP IN OTHER COUNTRIES Spain isn't the only holiday hotspot being blasted by unusually high temperatures this week. Swaths of France will reach 35-40C today, with some areas climbing to the low 40s. And parts of Portugal could see temperatures reach over 40C. Hot weather is then expected to stretch into Germany and western Poland on Wednesday and Thursday, where it is likely to reach the low-to-mid 30s. Ireland is also currently experiencing hotter than average temperatures. Tomorrow, Tuesday, has been pinpointed as the hottest day on the forecast, with parts of the midlands expected to experience the highest temperatures. Cathal Nolan of Ireland's Weather Channel said: "It will be a hot day everywhere, with temperatures into the mid to high 20's, but parts of the Midlands in particular will see values approaching or exceeding 30C. "It will feel very muggy and humid with little or no wind overland." Met Eireann said tomorrow will be mostly dry with spells of sunshine, however, a few scattered showers that could be heavy or thundery may develop in places through the day. The forecaster's HARMONIE weather model has showed that temperatures of 30C could possibly hit in parts of Tipperary tomorrow. The weather map shows temperatures in Galway, Offaly, Kilkenny Limerick and Laois being among the highest in the country tomorrow - between 28C and 29C. Roscommon, Leitrim, Cavan, Longford, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Wexford and Kildare look set to reach temperatures topping 27C, according to Met Eireann's model.

These aren't the only calendars to hit the market this year so if you're still after a more affordable option don't worry. For now, though, the early releases are already making December mornings look a whole lot more glamorous.

National Brown Bread Baking Competition finalists revealed
What makes for a perfect loaf of brown bread can be deeply personal and highly controversial, depending on who you ask. However, at the National Ploughing Championships, taking place 16-18 September, eight bakers will try to rise to the top, if you will, at the National Brown Bread Baking Competition. To narrow down the finalists, the judges sampled over 130 loaves from every corner of Ireland. Each finalist represents a blend of personal flair and deep-rooted Irish baking heritage, reflecting the diversity and richness of brown bread recipes passed down through generations. This year's talented line-up spans five counties, with each baker bringing their own story to the competition. Over the next month, they will prepare to face off in a high-stakes culinary showdown, all in pursuit of the coveted title of Ireland's best brown bread baker. The winner will take home €5,000 in cash and a NEFF Slide & Hide Oven, the very model made famous by The Great British Bake Off, which is valued at over €2,000. The semi-finals will take place at the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, on the 16 and 17 of September, with the grand final scheduled for the afternoon of 18 September. The finalists are: Pauline Browne (Dublin) Faith Ekonorue (Dublin) Helen Walker (Dublin) Áine Cotter (Cork) Maureen Igoe (Mayo) Josephine Kelly (Mayo) Tracey Mullin-Ryan (Galway) Kathy Bolger (Wexford)
