'Have the Iranians killed an American yet? No. Until they do we're not even talking about going after the political leadership,' said one of the sources, a senior US administration official.
The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said top US officials have been in constant communications with Israeli officials in the days since
Israel launched a massive attack on
Iran in a bid to halt its nuclear programme.
They said the Israelis reported that they had an opportunity to kill the top Iranian leader, but
Trump waved them off the plan.
The officials would not say whether Trump himself delivered the message. But Trump has been in frequent communications with Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu

When asked about Reuters' report, Netanyahu, in an interview on Sunday with Fox News Channel's Special Report With Bret Baier, said: 'There's so many false reports of conversations that never happened, and I'm not going to get into that.

Meet the Asians ‘on the front lines' of Trump's immigration crackdown in Los Angeles

The Asian community in the United States, including Filipinos , is reporting an atmosphere of 'agitation, fear and pain' as protesters in Los Angeles continue to rally against raids by immigration agents, amid US President Donald Trump's crackdown on illegal immigrants. 'What we've witnessed are military-style raids where Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), along with other federal agencies and the military, are going to the communities with their faces covered, armed and taking people from their homes and workplaces,' an activist using the alias Paul Duque from the US-based Filipino labour advocacy group Tanggol Migrante (Defend Migrants) Network, told This Week in Asia. Nearly 500 people have been arrested in Los Angeles since protests started on June 6 after a series of ICE raids on migrants swept the city. Close to 10 million people live in Los Angeles county – which includes Los Angeles and 87 other cities. Of these, 48.6 per cent are of Latino or Hispanic heritage – believed to be the primary target of these immigration raids. The county is also home to the US' biggest Asian-American and Pacific Islander community, at over 1.5 million. Trump wants raids ramped up in Democratic-led cities

Trump wants raids ramped up in Democratic-led cities Demonstrators sit along a raised wall in a protest in Los Angeles opposing immigration raids and supporting immigrant rights. Photo: AFP US President Donald Trump directed federal authorities to ramp up deportation efforts in Democratic-led cities, doubling down on a politicised anti-immigration drive after major protests in Los Angeles. "We must expand efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America's largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside," Trump said on his Truth Social platform. "These, and other such Cities, are the core of the Democrat Power Center," he claimed, citing debunked right-wing conspiracy theories that undocumented immigrants are voting in US elections in significant numbers. Trump has made deporting undocumented immigrants a key priority for his second term, after successfully campaigning against an alleged "invasion" by criminals. Raids by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency in Los Angeles sparked unruly protests, prompting Trump last week to deploy 4,000 National Guards and 700 Marines, against the wishes of local and state authorities. California has sued to regain control of the National Guardsmen from Trump, arguing he overstepped his authority. That suit is working its way through federal court. In a long screed on Truth Social Sunday, the Republican president charged that "every day, the Brave Men and Women of ICE are subjected to violence, harassment, and even threats from Radical Democrat Politicians." But, he insisted, "nothing will stop us from executing our mission... ICE Officers are herewith ordered ... to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History." Trump insisted that "Radical Left Democrats are sick of mind, hate our Country, and actually want to destroy our Inner Cities - And they are doing a good job of it!" "There is something wrong with them," he said, listing a litany of grievances, including charges that Democrats "believe in Open Borders, Transgender for Everybody, and Men playing in Women's Sports." That, he said, was why he wanted ICE and other law enforcement agencies "to FOCUS on our crime ridden and deadly Inner Cities." Doubling down on his characteristic bluster, Trump seemed to compare migration to the United States with weapons of mass destruction. He said he had directed his entire administration "to put every resource possible behind this effort, and reverse the tide of Mass Destruction Migration that has turned once Idyllic Towns into scenes of Third World Dystopia." With his typical divisive rhetoric, Trump said he wanted "our Brave Officers to know that REAL Americans are cheering you on every day." "To ICE, FBI, DEA, ATF, the Patriots at Pentagon and the State Department, you have my unwavering support. Now go, GET THE JOB DONE!", he wrote. (AFP)

Suspect in shooting of Minnesota lawmakers in custody after manhunt: report

Police arrested a man on Sunday who allegedly shot dead a Democratic state lawmaker and her husband while posing as a police officer, according to ABC News, citing several sources. ABC News said the man was arrested near his farm near Green Isle, Minnesota, but the Minnesota Department of Public Safety did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the arrest. A massive manhunt has been under way following the shooting deaths of Melissa Hortman, the top Democrat in the Minnesota House, and her husband, Mark, which Governor Tim Walz characterised as a 'politically motivated assassination'. Authorities had said earlier that they had found a car, hat and other items belonging to the suspect shooter, Vance Luther Boelter, 57, in a rural area southwest of Minneapolis, but had not found him yet. Melissa Hortman (pictured) and her husband, Mark, were killed on Saturday. John Hoffman (pictured) and his wife, Yvette, were injured at their home.
