Gonzaga forward Ben Gregg to work out for Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics may not be playing in the postseason, but they are anything but idle with the 2025 NBA draft coming on June 25. The Celtics have been working out prospects for the two picks they have, No. 28 in the first round and No. 32 in the second, and among the players the Celtics will bring in is Gonzaga forward Ben Gregg, per Gregg himself.
Speaking at a workout for the Portland Trail Blazers, the Gonzaga swingman shared that he will work out for the Celtics on Wednesday, and has gotten feedback from a few teams he has already met with. "My ability to stretch the floor as a big man, that's been a strength of mine throughout these workouts," he offered, noting NBA-level defense is an area where he needs to get better.
"Guys at this level are so fast and athletic," said the Gonzaga alum. "So just being able to stay in front of quicker guys has been the main thing for me."
A rough year from beyond the arc likely hurt his stock, with the former Bulldog hitting just 27.1% from 3 last season, compared to 37.7% the prior two campaigns. A 6-foot-10 forward who logged 9.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 35 games with Gonzaga last season, Gregg could be a sneaky good get for Boston as a developmental project for the future.
He is not mocked in either round by most analysts, and could be a player Boston is watching as a player to sign if Gregg doesn't get picked up by the end of the second round, or if the Celtics trade back. The former Bulldog plays more in the midrange and cutting to the cup, but his past success from deep makes for an intriguing mix for his size.

However, it appears that the Mavericks are going to experiment with some new lineups, with Flagg playing at the guard position. According to Mavericks beat writer Mike Curtis, Dallas has officially added Flagg to their website as part of the main roster. What caught Curtis' attention was the fact that he was listed at the guard position. While his secondary position does say he'll play as a forward, it was intriguing to learn about the team's intention to let him play at the backcourt. Kyrie Irving's absence could be why Cooper Flagg will play guard While everyone is looking forward to the Dallas Mavericks' starting five of Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Cooper Flagg, Anthony Davis, and Dereck Lively II, it might take some time until we see them at full force. Last season, Irving tore his ACL, which sidelined him for the rest of the season. Based on the current timeline provided by sources, Irving is expected to make his return by January 2026. Having that in mind, we could theorize that Flagg's enlistment at the guard position could be due to Irving's absence. As of the time of this writing, the Mavericks have yet to reveal their intentions of having Flagg play in the backcourt. Jaylen Brown's father arrested in Las Vegas in parking lot stabbing incident
The father of Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown was arrested in Las Vegas and charged with attempted murder after reportedly stabbing another man in a parking lot. According to TMZ, Quenton Marselles Brown admitted dinging the victim's car with his door when he got out of his Lincoln Navigator. An argument ensued and Brown stabbed the victim in the back and stomach, the website reported. Court documents listed Brown as an inmate in the Clark County Detention Center on attempted murder charges. A person with knowledge of the incident, speaking on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss it, confirmed that the man arrested is Jaylen Brown's father. The Associated Press requested the police report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department but was told it wasn't immediately available. The Celtics declined to comment. Brown has enjoyed an incredible career in Boston since the Celtics took him third overall in the 2016 NBA Draft. He's been an NBA All-Star four times and was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2023 when he averaged a career-best 26.6 points per game to go with 6.9 rebounds (also a career-high) and 3.5 assists. Brown and Jayson Tatum finally got over the hump and brought Boston its 18th NBA Championship in 2024, when Brown was named MVP of both the Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers and the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. The Celtics beat the Mavs in five games in the Finals, thanks in large part to Brown's stellar defense on Dallas point guard Luka Doncic. Off the court, Brown has also done a lot for the Boston community, especially after he signed his $304 million max contract with the franchise. There will be a lot on Brown's shoulders during the 2025-26 season, as Tatum will likely be sidelined for the entire season after he ruptured his Achilles in Boston's second-round playoff loss to the New York Knicks in May.
