Tribal school dropouts soar 5x in 4 years: Chhattisgarh, Odisha top the list
The highest numbers were seen from Chhattisgarh (88), Odisha (87), and Madhya Pradesh (71), Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durgadas Uikey told the Lok Sabha.From 2021-22 to 2024-25, a total of 1,233 tribal students dropped out of EMRS, rising each year from 111 in 2021-22, 241 in 2022-23, 329 in 2023-24, and 552 in 2024-25.

Work is handled by CPWD, state agencies, and PSUs, with land and clearance issues being resolved. Hostels, staff quarters, and water facilities are being added, alongside third-party quality checks and digital classrooms.A 10,391-post recruitment drive in 2023 filled many vacancies, with guest teachers and outsourced staff covering the rest.EMRS performance is tracked through central, state, and district-level reviews and real-time dashboards, focusing on enrolment, dropout rates, academics, and infrastructure.ABOUT EMRSEklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) were launched in 1997-98 to provide quality education to Scheduled Tribe children in remote areas, helping them pursue higher studies and gain employment. Lucknow: Concluding the marathon 24-hour debate on Vision 2047 in the state Assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Thursday that the blueprint sets the target to make UP a $6 trillion economy. "The govt is also committed to raising the per capita income to Rs 26 lakh per annum by 2047," he added. The CM asserted that Uttar Pradesh would lead India's march to 'Viksit Bharat'. "India can become a developed nation only when every state meets its responsibility, adding that UP would be at the forefront of this mission," he said. Sharing that the blueprint for Viksit Uttar Pradesh has been built on 3 themes and 12 sectors, the CM said: "Building on eight years of progress, the government aims to make Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy by 2030, and chart a course toward $6 trillion by 2047, increasing the state's GDP share from 9.3% to at least 16%, he stated. Yogi said that the current national per capita income is about Rs 2 lakh, while Uttar Pradesh's average is much lower. "The goal is that by 2047, the state's per capita income should be at least Rs 26 lakh annually, equal to or above the national average," the CM said, adding "there is a roadmap to raise the average growth rate to 15%." House passes bill to raise salary of legislators by 30%
Lucknow: The UP Assembly on Thursday passed a bill to allow 30% raise in legislators' salaries and allowances. The increased salary will be effective from April 1, 2025, finance minister Suresh Khanna told TOI and added that the much-awaited demand to link the salary with cost inflation index has also been heeded to. From now on, the salary of the legislators would be revised as per cost inflation index every five years, Khanna said and added that only a notification would be issued when the revision is effected. As per the bill, legislators' basic salary has been increased from the existing Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000 while ministers' salary has been increased from existing Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000. The area allowance given to legislators has also been increased from the existing Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000, the bill stated. The railway coupon has been increased from Rs 4.25 lakh per year to Rs 5 lakh per year. The increased Rs 5 lakh railway coupon will be 100% convertible. Earlier, of the Rs 4.25 lakh railway coupon, only Rs 3 lakh worth coupons were convertible to other means of transport like vehicle and flight while Rs 1.25 lakh coupon had to be mandatorily used as railway conveyance. The UP government has also increased legislators' personal assistance allowance from existing Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 while medical allowance has also been increased from Rs 30,000 to Rs 45,000. The daily allowance to legislators has also been increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 while the House sitting allowance has been increased from existing Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500, Khanna said while tabling the bill. Telephone allowance has also been increased from existing Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000, Khanna said. Allowance and pension for the ex-MLA has also been increased from Rs 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh, including Railway coupons. Similarly, family pension has also been increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000, Khanna said and added in the case of death of the MLA and his or her spouse, children will get the family pension evenly distributed among the number of siblings. However, if the spouse of the MLA is alive, the family pension will go to the spouse. Since the increased salary will be effective from April 1, 2025, the arrears will be given to the legislators when the next salary would be given. Andhra Pradesh CRDA proposes projects worth ₹81,317 crore for Amaravati
AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has proposed works worth Rs 81,317 crore for the greenfield capital city of Amaravati, with tenders already issued for projects valued at Rs 50,552 crore. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the progress of Amaravati's construction at the Secretariat, in a meeting attended by Municipal Minister P. Narayana, senior officials, and contractors. "CRDA has proposed works worth a total of Rs 81,317 crore for the construction of the capital city. Currently, it called tenders for projects worth Rs 50,552 crore," said an official press release. Officials informed the CM that construction work has commenced on 74 projects, covering housing, public buildings, roads, ducts, flood control measures, and other infrastructure. The TDP supremo instructed officials to complete Amaravati construction work six months ahead of the schedule. He reviewed the progress of infrastructure development in areas under the LPS (land pooling scheme) and the construction of residences for ministers, MLAs, officials, employees, and judges. On returnable plots to farmers, Naidu called for measures which would neither inconvenience the peasants nor impact Amaravati's master plan. Further, the CM instructed officials to expedite approvals to agencies intending to build their offices in the greenfield capital city, especially for institutions like BITS - Pilani, XLRI and others. In addition, he suggested continuous monitoring of progress by 72 organisations which received land in the capital region. The CM noted that mere allocation of land does not complete the capital's development as investments and ventures need to follow. He sought investments across diverse sectors in Amaravati, including Sport City, tourism, airport infrastructure, biotechnology, educational institutions, and hospitals and directed officials to invite India's top 10 real estate companies to take up projects in the region. Emphasising the vision of transforming Amaravati into a green energy corridor, Naidu called for the promotion of electric vehicles, including monitoring and displaying air quality across seed capital, capital city and capital area regions of Amaravati.
