Gladiators' Zack George and his wife Samantha break down recounting the devastating loss of their son Leo as star reveals the gruelling challenge he is taking on in his memory
The TV personality, who is also a father to daughter Ivy, two, welcomed his son Leo into the world on 26th March 2025 when he was just 23 weeks old.
However 13 days later Zack announced the tragic news of his son's death, after Leo suffered complications including brain bleeds, collapsed lungs and a hole in his heart.
And speaking in the candid interview, Zach opened up about a special moment he shared with his newborn and revealed the gruelling challenge he is taking on in his memory.
Zack explained: 'I didn't actually hold him for the first days.
'A really special moment is that when he was in the incubator and his oxygen levels dipped or his blood pressure dipped, if we were sitting next to him and we touched him and was speaking with him, we would instantly see his stats improve.
'I think that was a really special moment, he knew who his mum and dad were and he knew you were there.'
Zack explained that he is taking on the 13 Days Fighting' Burpee Challenge in memory of Leo.
It will consist of completing a mile of burpees every day for 13 consecutive days, from August 18 until 30 this year, in different locations across the UK.
The challenge is proudly supported by Currys, who will be joining Zack on his journey to raise awareness and funds for the Leicester Hospital NICU.
In addition to their support, Currys will be donating up to £5,000 worth of tech equipment for family and staff rooms within the unit, helping create a more comfortable and supportive environment for both parents and healthcare workers.
The funds raised through the 13-day challenge will go towards equipment, support services, and improvements to the NICU at Leicester Hospital - the hospital that gave Leo his 13 precious days and cared for him around the clock.
His appearance on the BBC show comes after Zack and his wife broke down in tears recounting the devastating loss of their baby son on Tuesday's episode of Loose Women.
Zack and Samantha took to the panel to open up to Ruth Langsford, 65, Coleen Nolan, 60, Myleene Klass, 47, and Katie Piper, 41, about their loss.
Their bravery to talk about such a sensitive subject really hit home to Myleene, who has been very open about her miscarriages in the past and has been honoured for her services to women's health, miscarriage awareness and charity.
Ruth said: 'Myleene, you're sitting there holding hands with Samantha, it is so devastating.'
Myleene paused and gathered herself before saying: 'I am so so sorry. I think that you are so brave.'
She continued: 'So brave. The fact that you can say the words four months later.'
Ruth pointed out that the couple, who tied the knot last year, want to honor his memory to make something positive come out of the heartbreaking situation.
The fitness fanatic will be taking part in a challenge where he will be doing a mile of burpees every day for 13 days.
Zack explained: 'When Leo eventually passed away, the way I have to deal with grief, I have to have something positive come out of the situation.
'I couldn't, we just lost our baby boy, nothing else, nothing positive had come from this.
'I had to try and turn it into a positive somehow and get some good out of it.
'So straight away I just thought of a challenge. He was with us for 13 days, I know you mentioned Sam held Leo, one of my biggest regrets was that I was a bit too scared to hold him.
'He was so small and fragile. I never held him until the very last day.
'That evening, things weren't looking good.
'We came in. He kind of waited for us.
'That's the only time we got to hold him, when he passed away.'
Samantha said: 'He did pass away when Zack was holding him.'
'It's a magical moment, but no parent should hold him until his heart stops beating,' Zack said holding back the tears.
Zack continued later: 'We're hoping that the challenge will raise awareness.
'So I am going to be doing a burpe mile every day for 13 days straight.'
Myleene asked where she could donate, to which he explained: 'We have Leo and Friends, which we set up, it's got a website, Leo and Friends Foundation.
'We've got our Instagrams as well, where the link is there.
I just want to spread awareness for premature baby loss as much as possible.
'We've had so many people reach out to us and say thank you for talking about it, because they've gone through the same thing.'

The corporation had already launched an inquiry into its flagship Saturday night family show amid claims two of its stars had used cocaine. It is understood that detectives from the Met Police are examining other allegations relating to the telly ballroom hit, which has been rocked by a string of controversies. Our latest shock revelation comes as the BBC prepares to launch Strictly's 23rd series next month - after officially announcing the line-up of celebrities including reality TV star Dani Dyer. A source told The Sun on Sunday: 'It's a significant new development in the BBC's recent string of crises that they have now got the police involved in investigating allegations surrounding Strictly. "This is a very dramatic turn of events. 'Despite all the show and its team have been through over recent months, it's hugely controversial that you've now got Scotland Yard detectives probing Strictly. 'This is their biggest prime-time family entertainment show, so it's not a good look for the BBC.' Strictly has been the subject of inquiries into bullying and inappropriate behaviour over the past 14 months. Andy Carroll has revealed he is back with girlfriend Lou Teasdale, following a brief split earlier this week. The couple split this this week after a series of rows, with initial reports claiming the footballer, 36, dumped the make-up artist, 41, after becoming fed up with her high maintenance behaviour. However, Daily Mail exclusively revealed on Wednesday it was in fact Lou who called off the relationship. Andy has now vowed to cut down on alcohol in a bid to save their relationship after boozy rows as he confirmed the pair are trying 'to work through their difficulties'. He told The Sun on Sunday: 'I love Lou and I love her family. We row like any couple.' Referring to his divorce from wife Billi Mucklow, who he shares three children with, Andy added: 'Things have been difficult for me and I'm going through a divorce. 'Some of our rows have been about alcohol, as Lou has been teetotal for 14 years and I have a beer or wine at dinner and a drink after the game, but it's not a problem in my life. 'We're better off together and we're trying to work through our difficulties.' The pair, who were together for just over a year, unfollowed each other on social media and Andy wiped all trace of Lou from his Instagram. They now follow each other on Instagram and have added their loved-up snaps back to their pages. On Wednesday, a source told the Daily Mail: 'It was Lou who ended her relationship with Andy, she walked away a few days ago, it was very much her choice to end their romance. 'She isn't interested in pointing the finger or blaming him and hoped to deal with their split in private, before he blocked her on Instagram and deleted their photos together. 'Lou is very upset by how everything has played out and the arguments between them were especially difficult for her to go through. 'However, Andy wants Lou back and flew to Ibiza via private jet on Tuesday just to find her, even though he has no idea where she's staying. 'He will think it's a romantic gesture but for Lou, she's unimpressed and just wants to be away with her family, she's not interested in any of his attempts at a reconciliation now. 'All she has done all year is love and support Andy, her feelings haven't gone away, but Lou has to protect herself now and ending the relationship is the only way to move forward.' The father-of-five returned to the UK with Dagenham & Redbridge last month after a two-year spell in France. Speaking about the first incident, a worker at the Nikolus Tavern told the newspaper: 'He seemed very drunk and furious with his partner. 'He was using very bad words. It was improper behaviour. The woman looked very upset.' According to the restaurant worker, police arrived and took the ex-Liverpool, Newcastle United and England striker aside for a chat, before he was later allowed back to girlfriend Lou. 'Police spoke to him. He was allowed to return, and the couple left after paying for their meal. Andy was very calm when the police arrived — he stood up and spoke to them outside the restaurant', the restaurant worker added. Just hours later, cops were called again by hotel staff following reports of damage in their room. Daily Mail understands that the former England forward - once Britain's most expensive Premier League footballer when bought by Liverpool from Newcastle for £35million - was taken to the police station for questioning, but he was not arrested and no further action was taken.
