Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank reports Dh4 billion pre-tax profit in H1 2025

ABU DHABI (WAM)Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) Wednesday announced a 16 percent year-on-year increase in pre-tax net profit for the first half of 2025, reaching Dh4 billion, reflecting strong balance sheet growth, continued business momentum, and a rising customer base.The bank delivered another record performance in Q2 2025, with pre-tax net profit up 14 percent year-on-year to Dh2 billion.Net profit after tax for the first half reached Dh3.5 billion, up 15 percent versus H1 2024. For the second quarter, net profit reached Dh1.8 billion, an increase of 13 percent compared to the same period last year.Total income for H1 2025 rose 11 percent to Dh5.9 billion, up from Dh5.3 billion in H1 2024.This robust growth was driven by strong performance across all core business segments, supported by diversified income streams and continued expansion of fee-based activities.Income from funding grew 9 percent year-on-year to Dh3.6 billion in H1 2025, compared to Dh3.3 billion in the previous year, backed by increased business volumes and the bank's ability to generate sustainable returns despite lower market profit rates.Net profit margin stood at 4.27 percent, within the bank's target range, reflecting volume growth and effective balance sheet management.Non-funding income rose 15 percent year-on-year to Dh2.3 billion in H1 2025, up from Dh2 billion in the prior-year period.The growth in non-funding income was largely driven by a 28 percent increase in fee income, attributed to higher product sales across both retail and corporate segments, reflecting stronger customer activity and successful cross-selling initiatives.Non-funding income now contributes 39 percent of total operating income, underscoring the bank's continued strategic focus on income diversification.The cost-to-income ratio improved to 28.2 percent in H1 2025, down 40 basis points from 28.6 percent in H1 2024, driven by higher revenue and ongoing productivity measures.
Operating expenses rose 9 percent year-on-year to Dh1.7 billion in H1 2025, reflecting continued investment in talent, digital initiatives and emerging technologies.

The Dubai Weddings initiative recorded a 218 percent increase in participation during 2025 compared to 2024, with the number of weddings held to date exceeding 700. Marriages facilitated through the Dubai Weddings initiative accounted for 27.7 percent of all marriages registered in the results also indicated that the largest demographic of beneficiaries consisted of men aged between 26–30 and women aged between 20–25. The programme also recorded an impressive 95 percent beneficiary satisfaction programme offers extensive education and training sessions for couples as part of efforts to ensure the long-term success of marital relationships. Among notable highlights are Start it Right, a course promoting awareness of marital rights and effective approaches to foster mutual understanding; Family Financial Culture – Dubai, which focuses on sound financial planning; and How to Build Your Home, which offers guidance on smart and viable housing programme's benefits extend beyond education, offering tangible solutions that meet real-life needs. It offers full coverage of wedding costs for both men and women when the ceremony is hosted in CDA-approved venues. It also facilitates priority access to ready-to-move-in housing through easy instalment payment schemes. Another advantage comes in the form of a loyalty card under the Esaad programme that offers various community perks. Turkish annual consumer price inflation dipped more than expected to 33.52 per cent in July, official data showed on Monday. The Turkish Statistical Institute said that month-on-month inflation was 2.06 percent, below forecasts. China's major internet firms log $133.3 billion in revenues in H1

China's internet sector saw steady growth in business revenue in the first half of this year, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed. In the first six months, China's major internet companies and related services companies generated 961.3 billion yuan (about US$133.3 billion) in business revenue, an increase of 3.1 percent year-on-year. This growth rate was 2.2 percentage points higher than that registered in the first five months. The major internet companies' cumulative profits came in at 74.32 billion yuan, down 8.3 per cent year-on-year. The data also revealed that spending on research and development in major internet and related service companies stood at 48.56 billion yuan from January to June, edging up 2.6 per cent year-on-year. Major internet companies and related services companies refer to those with annual business revenues of at least 20 million yuan. WAM
