Genoa sign Rennes' Leo Østigård on loan

Yahoo31-07-2025
Genoa CFC have signed Rennes centre-back Leo Østigård (25) on loan, both clubs have announced. Rennes and Genoa have reportedly reached an agreement over a loan with a purchase option worth €8m. The Norwegian centre-back has already spent a short spell on loan at the Serie A side, between January and June 2022.
Les Rouge et Noir signed Østigård from Napoli last year in a €7m deal. The former Brighton centre-back was expected to fill the void left by Belgium international centre-back Arthur Theate, but he failed to make his mark and was already on his way out six months in. He joined Bundesliga side Hoffenheim on loan with an option to buy for the second part of the campaign and was deemed surplus to requirements by Rennes.

Christian Pulisic Scores as AC Milan Beats Bari 2-0 in Italian Cup Opener

An apparent injury to Rafael Leão made it a bittersweet season debut for AC Milan as the Portugal winger and United States international Christian Pulisic both scored in a 2-0 win over Serie B side Bari in the opening round of the Italian Cup on Sunday. Leão appeared to injure his right calf after celebrating his headed goal early on and had to be substituted. Pulisic, meanwhile, followed up a shot off the crossbar in the first half by finishing off an exchange with Santiago Gimenez — who came on for Leão — shortly after the break at San Siro. Newly signed Luka Modrić came on in the 66th for his Milan debut at age 39. The former Ballon d'Or winner joined the seven-time European champion in July after 13 seasons with Real Madrid. Massimiliano Allegri, who was rehired as Milan's coach after winning Serie A with the Rossoneri nearly 15 years ago, was suspended. He began serving a two-match ban for an ugly outburst directed at the referees during the Italian Cup final as Juventus' manager in 2024. The outburst resulted in Juventus firing Allegri. Milan is usually one of the top eight seeds that has byes for the opening rounds of the Italian Cup and begins competing in December. But the Rossoneri finished eighth in the Italian league last season and lost the Cup final to Bologna. Bologna was therefore given the top seed even though it finished ninth in Serie A, pushing Milan down into the earlier rounds. Milan will next face Lecce in late September. Also advancing were: Empoli, Sassuolo, Genoa, Venezia, Como, Cagliari, Pisa, Palermo, Frosinone and Parma. Serie A starts next weekend with Milan opening against promoted Cremonese on Saturday, again at San Siro. It remains to be seen whether Leão will be available for the league opener. Transfer War Brews Over 19-Year-Old Moroccan Sensation

German Giants and Premier League Clubs Circle Monaco's Young Star Transfer War Brews Over 19-Year-Old Moroccan Sensation Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen've entered the race to sign Moroccan talent as they look to replace compatriot Amine Adli, who's expected to join the Premier League this summer. Leverkusen's Offer vs Monaco's Demands According to Foot Mercato, Leverkusen submitted opening bid worth 25 million EURO but Monaco are holding firm valuing the winger at over €40m. Why Ben Seghir? At just 19 years old, the Moroccan forward's impressed with his pace and skill in attack. Leverkusen see him as the ideal successor to Adli who played a key role in their attacking system. Ben Seghir has already rejected contract renewal with Monaco expressing his eagerness to test himself outside ligue 1. This's further fueled speculation of summer move. A Crucial Summer for Leverkusen The German champions are rebuilding after losing key names like Xhaka, Wirtz and Frimpong. Signing Ben Seghir's seen as priority transfer to maintain their competitive edge. Breakthrough Season at Monaco Last campaign Ben Seghir featured in 46 matches, scoring 9 goal & providing 4 assist confirming his status as one of Europe's brightest emerging talents.
