Mercedes-Benz India to hike prices from June 1 by up to ₹12.2 lakh
The price hike will range between ₹ 90,000 and ₹ 12.2 lakh with a part of it applicable from June 1, and the rest from September 1, 2025. Mercedes-Benz India aims to soften the impact on customers with the two-stage price revision.
Mercedes-Benz says that it is only passing a marginal portion of the cost increase to customers. The C-Class gets the lowest price hike at ₹90,000 and will now start from ₹60.3 lakh. On other hand, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class gets a maximum price hike of ₹12.2 lakh, and is now priced at ₹3.60 crore. All prices are ex-showroom. Mercedes said that while it continued to absorb the steep cost hike so far, it was compelled to pass the same on to the market to offset operational expenses and maintain business sustainability. The automaker said the price revision has been triggered by a steep hike in forex rates since January this year. This has severely impacted the cost structure of components and products, especially the fully imported models.
Why have a two-stage price revision?
Explaining the need for a two-stage price revision, Mercedes said the same will help customers to plan their purchases and opt for finance schemes that better suit their requirements. The automaker claims for models like the GLC and GLC SUVs, the EMI difference will be less than ₹2,000 after the price hike. Under Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, the automaker offers a host of flexible payment options including lower interest rates, reduced EMIs, partial ownership, and more.

Pakistan Minister Doubles Down On Asim Munir's Viral 'India Like Mercedes' Analogy
Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir's remark comparing India to a 'shining Mercedes' and Pakistan to a 'dump truck' has stirred fresh controversy, now backed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. At a seminar in Lahore, Naqvi praised Munir's analogy and revealed it was also shared with a visiting Saudi delegation during the recent India-Pakistan conflict. He said Munir described Pakistan as a 'dumper truck loaded with stones' ready for collision. Earlier, Munir's comment during a US visit triggered massive trolling online, with users mocking the statement as a 'self-goal' and generating viral AI images of dump trucks crashing.

Our focus is not exports but to cater to local requirements: Mercedes-Benz India MD
Mercedes-Benz India MD Santosh Iyer is cautiously optimistic about India's EV market penetration. Speaking at the recent launch of the CLE 53 AMG – a 449hp, straight-six petrol-powered sports coupè that's the 10th AMG model in the brand's India line-up – Iyer attributed the steady Y-o-Y growth of EVs to multiple reasons, including the availability of a wider range of models, and the expansion of retail touch points across the country. 'Today, only 30% of India's customer touch points sell EVs in any form. And that growth has happened from 10% so there are more customers who are educated about EVs now, and that's driving growth". EVs have seen wider acceptance in the luxury market, largely due to luxury EVs offering higher range, TCO that's on par or less than ICE counterparts and the smooth and silent nature of the EV powertrain. 'The luxury segment there's 8-9% market penetration," says Iyer, while refraining from speculating what the luxury EV market penetration would be by 2030. 'We don't want to put a number or a target in terms of projected market penetration by 2030. All we can say is that we're committed to EVs. From Maybach to AMG - All have an EV powertrain in their portfolio. Ultimately, it's the market, regulatory framework and customer that set the pace of transformation," says Iyer. 'The first cycle of EV ownership needs to complete for more customers to gain confidence" Also check these Cars Find more Cars Mercedes-Benz EQA 70.5 kWh 70.5 kWh 560 km 560 km ₹ 67.20 Lakhs Compare View Offers Mercedes-Benz EQE 90.56 kWh 90.56 kWh 550 km 550 km ₹ 1.41 Cr Compare View Offers Mercedes-Benz GLA 1950 cc 1950 cc Multiple Multiple ₹ 50.80 Lakhs Compare View Offers Mercedes-Benz GLC 1999 cc 1999 cc Petrol Petrol ₹ 76.80 Lakhs Compare View Offers Mercedes-Benz EQS 107.8 kWh 107.8 kWh 857 km 857 km ₹ 1.30 Cr Compare View Offers MG M9 EV 90 kWh 90 kWh 548 km 548 km ₹ 69.90 Lakhs Compare View Offers On the arrival of Tesla Mercedes-Benz India – one of the leading players in the luxury EV space remains unfazed by Tesla's arrival. 'The price point at which Tesla operates, we operate in single digits in the segment, as our sales predominantly come from the above ₹60 lakh segment. It goes all the way up to ₹7-8 crore, so we feel insulated". 'Many of our customers might opt for Tesla as a second or third car, but it won't cannibalise our sales. Not from a volume perspective," admits Iyer, owing to the novelty that the American EV maker is currently enjoying. Iyer also admits that while Tesla's current mode of operation (via the CBU route) will not enrich the local EV supply chain in any significant way, it does help boost the image of EVs. 'I feel like, even with two outlets, you have so many people coming and checking out the Teslas. It goes a long way in helping people understand EVs and for EVs to gain their confidence" On ethanol blending With public sentiment around car ownership souring due to the government's new E20 fuel mandate, Iyer feels that the luxury segment remains relatively unaffected as most luxury brands, Mercedes-Benz included, brought E20 compatibility to their entire portfolio before the mandate was set in motion. 'The mass market segment is highly price sensitive, so carmakers engineer a car for the need of the day, whereas the luxury segment, you can engineer it for tomorrow" However, public concern remains not only around the current blend of petrol but also the notion that meeting further blending targets of E27 could affect sales of ICE vehicles, closer to 2030. Iyer, however, remains dismissive of the notion. 'I think policymakers are clear that E20 is the max and anything more than that will be implemented in a selective manner. E100, for instance, cannot happen from a technical standpoint". Iyer's statement came a day before Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that the future of fuel will be 100% ethanol. The Central government, however, hasn't announced any clear roadmap towards E27 level blending, at the moment. 'Even before we had introduced a BSVI-compliant fleet, we had engineered our cars for a lower fuel rating," says Iyer, adding that the government had been very clear about implementing a 20% ethanol blend in petrol sold across the nation. 'Everybody knows that E20 is coming up. Did everyone engineer their cars based on that requirement? The answer may be no. On Mercedes-Benz becoming a more integral part of the global supply chain When asked if the brand is in any way affected by the US tariffs, Iyer remained optimistic. 'I think the tariff situation can be viewed both ways. I would say on one side we have the US tariffs, but there are also positive outcomes. India is actively discussing an FTA with Europe. We have an FTA with the UK, Australia, and the Middle East (UAE). If you look at the opportunity there, that's bigger" 'There's a lot of noise about the prices of cars being imported, but I'd say the bigger opportunity is for exporting components to other markets. Because India's component ecosystem is very mature and capable. We need to see what's required for us to localise in India. For instance, in the E-Class, all the glass components on the vehicle are localised". Does this mean Mercedes-Benz India intends to export components like it has done in the past, along with models like the locally built GLC, which was briefly being exported to markets like the US? 'Our plant is built for India and dedicated to India; that's the manufacturing set-up. Our focus is not on exports. We are designed to cater to local requirements" (Parth Charan is an independent automotive journalist and writer who has written on cars, motorcycles and the automotive industry for the past 12 years. Pakistan interior minister confirms Munir's ‘India Mercedes, Pakistan dump truck' analogy
At a seminar in Lahore, Naqvi said, 'Our intelligence agencies have the information beforehand, and that is why we were able to achieve victory. The Field Marshal himself has repeated this story in Brussels, where he told the Saudi delegation that India is a shining Mercedes and Pakistan is a dump truck, filled with stones and other things. Now you imagine when both collide, what will happen to the Mercedes. The Saudi delegation was quiet.' The unusual metaphor had been used by Munir in an interaction with overseas Pakistanis in Florida during his US trip earlier this month. New Delhi: Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed ThePrint's report about Field Marshal Asim Munir likening India to a 'shining Mercedes' and Pakistan to a 'dump truck full of gravel', by publicly repeating the analogy and quoting the country's army chief. As ThePrint had reported, Munir had made these statements during a private dinner in the US too, while threatening to 'take half the whole world down' and plunge the region into nuclear war should his country face an existential threat in a future war with India. 'India is shining a Mercedes coming on a highway like Ferrari, but we are a dump truck full of gravel. If the truck hits the car, who is going to be the loser?' Munir had said at a luncheon hosted by Adnan Asad in Florida. This exclusive report by ThePrint had made national headlines. Naqvi not only confirmed Munir's remarks, but also expanded on Pakistan's version of the recent military tensions with India, post Operation Sindoor in May when India had retaliated for the Pahalgam terror attack. Naqvi claimed that during the brief confrontation in May, Pakistan had advanced intelligence about India's operational plans. 'Whatever strategy India devised, we learned about it in time,' he said. He added that none of Pakistan's critical military assets were damaged during the missile strikes, a claim that has been debunked by satellite imagery released by independent experts. Praising Pakistan's response, Naqvi claimed that retaliatory missile strikes targeted Indian military installations near civilian areas without causing civilian casualties. 'We destroyed one of their biggest oil depots. That is when we knew that God was helping us,' he said, making yet another claim which is not backed by evidence or satellite imagery. Naqvi lauded the role of intelligence agencies during the episode, crediting them for providing critical foresight into India's intentions. 'The army, air force, navy, and government have all been acknowledged, but our intelligence agencies were doing important work behind the scenes,' he said.
