REAL ID now required at US airports for domestic flights: Key info for travellers
The REAL ID Act, originally passed in 2005, was designed to enhance security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards following the 9/11 attacks. The law sets specific requirements for ID verification and documentation to prevent identity fraud and improve overall travel safety.
According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), beginning next May, traditional state driver's licenses or ID cards that are not REAL ID-compliant will no longer be accepted at airport security checkpoints.
Travelers must instead show a REAL ID, a passport, or another TSA-approved form of identification.

REAL ID-compliant cards are marked with a star in the top right corner. However, as of early 2024, fewer than half of all state-issued IDs meet the federal REAL ID requirements, according to DHS officials. This has raised concerns that millions of Americans may be caught off guard when the new rules take effect.

States may have slightly different requirements, therefore travelers are encouraged to check the websites of their local DMVs for comprehensive guidance.
Federal officials emphasize that the change only affects air travel and access to federal buildings; REAL ID is not required to drive, vote, or apply for federal benefits.

IAF Heritage Museum loses altitude as visitor inflow dips
Chandigarh: The initial burst of enthusiasm about the Indian Air Force Heritage Museum in the Tricity seems to be waning. The dedicated Air Force heritage centre launched by Union defence minister Rajnath Singh with much fanfare in May, 2023, has suffered a significant dip in footfall since its inception. Its expansion plan has also remained restricted to paper for over one year. "Initially, Indian Air Force and Chandigarh administration were in talks to expand the IAF Heritage Museum to start its second phase. Preparation of an MoU was discussed and both parties prepared points for the same. However, there has been no progress for more than one year," sources in the Chandigarh administration revealed. Despite the tourist centre boasting of modern paraphernalia like virtual and augmented reality, holograms, simulators, and electromechanical enclosures, the flow of visitors has gone down. Sources in the administration said that visitors from the Tricity thronged the IAF Heritage Museum initially but the inflow started thinning down. Now, most of the visitors are people from outside the Tricity. As per records of the Chandigarh administration, 58,273 people visited the Air Force Museum in the eight months from its inception on May 8, 2023 to December, 2023. From January, 2024 to December, 2024, the number of visitors at the museum located in the heritage building of the city in Sector 18, fell to 48,712. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Yogi unveils plan for holistic devpt of Braj
1 2 Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Mathura reflects 5,000 years of ancient history and devotion and devotees from across India and the world converged there as values and divine blessings of Krishna still exist in every particle of Mathura's sacred soil. Launching a series of projects during his visit to Mathura on Janmashtami on Saturday, Yogi gifted 118 projects worth Rs 646 crore and unveiled the comprehensive master plan that would govern the long-term development of the Mathura-Vrindavan region through phased funding amounting to Rs 30,000 crore. The CM said he was privileged to join celebrations like Rangotsav and Janmashtami in Mathura for several years. He said that the master plan would connect pilgrimage sites like Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, and Gokul with the memories of Dwapar Yuga. "Our govt is committed to respecting the sentiments of revered saints and enriching the Braj region. We are making possible the works which were once considered impossible," he said. Citing the example of Kashi Vishwanath Dham and the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, he said that 10 years ago, imagining the transformation of the two sites seemed impossible. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "In Kashi, where earlier not even 50 devotees could visit together, now 50,000 devotees can get darshan at once," he said. Splash & dive: Chitradurga damto host water sports from Nov 1
Bengaluru: Karnataka's first scientifically designed reservoir, Vani Vilas Sagara (VVS) across the Vedavathi river near Hiriyur in Chitradurga district, about 180km from Bengaluru is set to transform itself into a hub of adventure and eco-tourism. Come Nov 1, its expansive backwaters will host a range of water sports, giving a major tourism boost to central Karnataka. Tourism minister HK Patil said full-fledged facilities for boating, kayaking, jet skiing, banana rides, windsurfing and sailing will be launched in the reservoir, which could attract a lot of tourists from Bengaluru. "We had earlier given consent, but clearances were pending with the water resources department. I have discussed it with deputy CM and water resources minister DK Shivakumar, and he has promised to give final clearance. Based on the assurance, we've fixed Nov 1 as the launch date," Patil said. The move fulfils a long-standing demand from the drought-hit Chitradurga region, with plans to promote eco-tourism in the adjoining Uttaregudda Wildlife Sanctuary — a protected 189.5 sq km forest, notified in Dec 2022. The Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam Limited (VJNL), which manages the 1907 reservoir, built by the Mysore rulers, has already approved use of its 8,763-hectare backwaters for tourism. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo You Can Also Check: Bengaluru AQI | Weather in Bengaluru | Bank Holidays in Bengaluru | Public Holidays in Bengaluru | Gold Rates Today in Bengaluru | Silver Rates Today in Bengaluru DT Srinivas, MLC from the south east teachers' constituency, said: "Located just a three-hour drive away from Bengaluru and connected via NH-48, this place will help empower the local community economically and generate jobs." He described the combination of the reservoir and Uttaregudda Sanctuary as a perfect weekend getaway for Bengalureans. Patil revealed that the tourism department has identified land near the reservoir to set up a Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC)-run Mayura Hotel. "The Vedavathi River passes through Uttaregudda for about 10–15km, and during monsoon and winter seasons, the landscape is as captivating as any Malnad location. I will personally visit the area to explore potential ecotourism initiatives," he said. The reservoir, fed by the Upper Bhadra and Yettinahole projects, is poised to turn Hiriyur into one of the state's newest adventure and nature tourism hotspots.
