Pakistan confers military award on Saudi naval chief for strengthening bilateral naval ties
The award was conferred during a special investiture ceremony at the President House in Islamabad, which was attended by Saudi Arabia's Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf and other senior officials.
'The president congratulated Vice Admiral Al-Gharibi on receiving the award and acknowledged his efforts in promoting cooperation between the navies of the two brotherly nations,' the president's secretariat said in a statement.
President Zardari later held a meeting with the Saudi commander and expressed Pakistan's deep appreciation for Saudi Arabia's support during challenging times. He expressed satisfaction over the ongoing engagements between the two navies and called for further collaboration, according to the statement.
The Pakistan president appreciated the participation of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces in Exercise AMAN-25 and AMAN Dialogue-25, held in Pakistan in February, noting that such joint activities contribute to promoting maritime cooperation and mutual understanding. He expressed appreciation for the trust placed by the Royal Saudi Naval Forces in the Pakistan Navy's training system and emphasized the importance of expanding training cooperation between the two navies.
'The President also praised the vision of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which he said is steering the Kingdom toward transformation, progress, and long-term prosperity,' the statement read.
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan maintain close religious, cultural, diplomatic and strategic ties, particularly in trade and defense. The Kingdom is home to over two million Pakistani expatriates, who are the largest source of remittances to the South Asian country.
The Kingdom has provided substantial support to Pakistan during its prolonged economic challenges in recent years, including external financing and assistance with International Monetary Fund loan programs.

Pakistan slashes petrol price by Rs7.54 per liter for next fortnight
KARACHI: Pakistan's government has slashed the price of petrol by Rs7.54 per liter for the next fortnight and increased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.48 per liter, the Finance Division announced late Thursday. The revised prices of the petroleum products take effect from Aug. 1, the notification said. As per the new prices, petrol will now cost Rs264.61 per liter, down from Rs272.15 per liter. The price of a liter of HSD will now cost Rs285.83 per liter, up from Rs284.35 per liter. 'Following a review of prevailing international market trends and upon the recommendations of OGRA and relevant ministries, the government has revised the prices of petroleum products for the next fortnight,' the notification read. Fuel prices in Pakistan are adjusted every two weeks and are influenced by global oil market trends, currency fluctuations and changes in domestic taxation. The increases have a direct impact on inflation, raising production and transportation costs and driving up the prices of essential goods and services, particularly food. The effect is further amplified by Pakistan's reliance on imported fuel. The latest reduction in fuel prices will provide much needed relief to the masses. On June 16, the government raised the price of petrol by Rs4.80 per liter and HSD by Rs7.95, which was followed by another hike on July 1, with the price of petrol raised by Rs8.36 and HSD by Rs10.39. Earlier this month, the government hiked the price of petrol by Rs5.36 per liter and diesel by Rs11.37 per liter for a third consecutive time. Fuel price volatility escalated in July during the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel, when Pakistan instructed oil marketing companies to maintain mandatory reserve levels. While the government ruled out supply shortages, the conflict triggered concerns about a potential disruption in oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz.

Saudi interior minister visits Interpol head office
LYON, France: Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif visited Interpol headquarters in Lyon, France on Thursday where he was received by the organization's president, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi. During the visit, Prince Abdulaziz affirmed the Kingdom's ongoing support for Interpol and its efforts to strengthen international cooperation in combating transnational crime. Saudi Arabia welcomes 1.2 million Umrah pilgrims
JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reported that more than 1.2 million pilgrims have arrived in the Kingdom to perform Umrah since the season launched. The faithful have traveled from 109 countries worldwide, reflecting surging international interest and the Kingdom's enhanced service capabilities for religious visitors. Ministry data shows a significant 30 percent jump in Umrah visa holders entering Saudi Arabia this year compared to the same period last year. Visa issuances also climbed 27 percent, while more than 4,200 partnership agreements were executed between domestic Umrah service providers and international agents, bolstering the Kingdom's capacity to accommodate the influx of pilgrims. The Umrah season was launched with digital visa processing handled through the government's Nusuk platform. The scheme represents the latest advancement in Saudi Arabia's efforts to streamline religious tourism as part of Vision 2030, the Kingdom's comprehensive modernization blueprint. Pilgrims have been able to secure Umrah permits directly through the Nusuk mobile application, which functions as a centralized digital gateway for pilgrim services.
