Gautam Budh Nagar Police on Saturday issued an advisory stating that flying drones and unmanned aerial vehicles around the Noida International Airport in Jewar was a punishable offence. The ban was implemented keeping in mind the airport's security and monitoring of the airspace, it said.Manish Kumar Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jewar Airport , said, "There is a complete ban on flying drones or any type of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle ( UAV ) above and in the vicinity of Noida International Airport. This ban has been implemented keeping in mind the security of the airport and monitoring of the airspace."As per instructions of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and security agencies, the Noida International Airport was declared a Red Zone (no drone fly zone) on October 8, 2024, he said."Flying a drone without permission in this area is a punishable offence under the Airports Authority of India Act, 1934 and the rules for UAV operation," Mishra said."Legal action will be taken against any person, institution or group found violating this instruction. All citizens are requested to follow this rule and cooperate with the security system of the airport," he added.

MHA directs against senior UP IPS officer
Lucknow: The Union of home affairs (MHA) has directed the UP government to initiate departmental action against senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Aditya Mishra, at present serving as director general, fire services. According to senior officials in the state home department, the ministry has sent a formal notice recommending disciplinary proceedings against Mishra, a 1989-batch IPS officer. The action pertains to his tenure with the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), where he was on deputation. Sources said that Mishra would soon be issued a notice and asked to submit his response. One senior official described the move as a standard procedure under departmental discipline. Mishra has previously served as the ADG (law and order) in Uttar Pradesh. During his tenure with LPAI starting 2019, he played a key role in developing critical infrastructure, including the passenger terminal building and Maitri Dwar at Petrapole in West Bengal, as well as UP's first land port at Rupaidiha in Bahraich district, along the Indo-Nepal border and other projects. Sale of scheduled drugs through online portal, IndiaMART, curbed: T.N. police
The illegal sale of scheduled drugs through a leading online portal has been curbed after stringent action was taken, the Tamil Nadu police said. Last April, as part of the drive against narcotics and other banned substances, Kancheepuram police had issued notices to IndiaMART InterMESH Limited, an online portal, and its directors for having facilitated many youth across the State to buy scheduled drugs illegally. This follows the arrest of at least 10 youth who procured the scheduled drugs through the portal and the seizure of more than 10,000 tablets in Sriperumbudur and Oragadam in Kancheepuram district. They had procured the drugs without prescription from medical shops in other States, and sold them in Tamil Nadu. The police said IndiaMART was being used by thousands of youths across the country to procure scheduled drugs, which are otherwisenot allowed to be sold without proper medical advice. Notices were issued under Section 35 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to the directors to appear before the Kancheepuram police. Asra Garg, Inspector-General of Police, North, said, 'When their senior representative met us recently, we told them categorically that their portal was being used by gullible youth in Tamil Nadu and other States for the procurement of scheduled drugs, and that something must be done in public interest.' K. Shanmugam, Superintendent of Police, Kancheepuram District, said the pharmaceutical shops from other States, which were hosted on IndiaMART platform, contacted youth from Tamil Nadu, who searched for the drugs, through WhatsApp/Instagram. They then sold them at prices several times the MRP. They delivered the supplies through courier companies by providing fake addresses to hide the recipients' identities. Shreya Gupta, Superintendent of Police, Tirupattur District, who was a part of this investigation, said: 'IndiaMART was being misused by some greedy pharma shops in other States, who used it against the youth in Tamil Nadu. A couple of months ago, a youth in north Chennai died after injecting a drug purchased through the platform. Mr. Garg said, 'IndiaMART understood the issue and sent us an official email, confirming that they have completely banned around 100 such drugs from their platform. No illegal sale of drugs through their portal has been reported in the recent days, which is a welcome step and a milestone in our fight against drugs/narcotics.'

Police officers who cracked bank robbery, minor's rape murder in Pune get Union Home Minister's Medal
* In October 2021, a group of five armed men looted cash and gold worth Rs 2.3 crore at gunpoint from the Bank of Maharashtra in Pimperkhed village in Shirur taluka of Pune district. An FIR was lodged at the Shirur police station in Pune rural. A team led by the then police inspector Sureshkumar Raut (now posted at Latur as deputy superintendent of police) nabbed the five robbers. Cops recovered almost all the cash and gold robbed by the accused. * In February 2021, a two-and-half-year-old girl was raped and murdered at a village in Pune district. An FIR was lodged against the accused under IPC sections 302, 376 and sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A team led by assistant police inspector Manoj Pawar (now posted at Solapur rural) nabbed the accused, who was later awarded death sentence by the court. * In June 2021, a gang of robbers attacked a 75-year-old doctor and his 68-year-old wife at their residence in Lonavala, while they were asleep in the midnight hours. The robbers tied the elderly couple, gagged them and looted cash and jewellery worth nearly Rs 66 lakh at knife-point from their house. An FIR was lodged at the Lonavala city police station in Pune rural. Within a week, a team led by inspector Dilip Pawar (now posted at Kolhapur) nabbed a gang of 20 and recovered the robbed valuables. Police officers Sureshkumar Raut, Manoj Pawar and Dilip Pawar are among the 11 cops from Maharashtra who were awarded the Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Investigation for the year 2022, at the hands of state's Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, during a ceremony at the Centre for Police Research (CPR) in Pune, on Friday.
