Delhi govt to introduce skill-based subjects in 257 more schools from current academic session
In a move to expand vocational education, the Directorate of Education has approved the introduction of Skill/NSQF subjects in 257 additional government schools in Delhi from the current academic session, officials said.
These subjects, introduced under the Samagra Shiksha scheme, aim to provide students with practical knowledge and job-ready skills alongside regular studies, according to a circular issued on May 23.
The circular said that students in Classes 9 and 11 can now enrol in various skill subjects, with each school expected to take in 50 students per subject.
Schools have been instructed to hold counselling sessions to help students understand the scope and career opportunities available through these vocational subjects, it added. Fresh enrolments in Class 11 are also allowed, even if students have not studied the subject earlier in Class 9 or 10.
'This is part of a flexible, multi-entry and multi-exit policy to make skill education more accessible,' the circular said. It also mentioned that offering skill subjects is not mandatory for all students.
'Schools may offer the option, but it is not compulsory for every student to take a skill subject,' it added.
According to CBSE guidelines, schools do not need to seek separate approval for introducing these additional skill subjects. They are required to update relevant details on the CBSE portal, the circular further said.
National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) subjects include practical courses such as Information Technology, Retail, Healthcare, and Beauty and Wellness, designed to enhance students' employability and career readiness, it added.

Ranchi: The state department of school education and literacy has begun appointing retired principals and vice-principals of reputed private and central schools as managers in its CM Schools of Excellence statewide. The move, officials said, is aimed at strengthening the administrative efficiency of the schools. To be hired on contractual basis, retired principals and vice principals from CBSE-affiliated private schools will be given priority in the recruitment process. CBSE Supplementary Exams 2025: Applications open for Classes 10th, 12th private students today
CBSE Board Supplementary Exams 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will start registrations for the CBSE supplementary exams for private students today. The registration facility is for both classes 10th and 12th. Students who are interested and want to apply for the CBSE supplementary results can visit the official website. It is pertinent to note that CBSE Class 12th students are permitted to register for the improvement exams in one subject; on the other hand, Class 1oth students can improve their scores in up to two subjects. Private students of CBSE must submit their applications through the official website, The application form will be available from May 30 until June 17. According to the CBSE supplementary exam schedule for 2025, the Class 10 and Class 12 exams are set to take place starting from July 15. CBSE students who have taken all their exams as private candidates and received a compartment status in any subject are eligible to apply. Those who have passed must select the improvement option when filling out the form. The board has also clarified that students who appeared as regular candidates in the 2023-24 board exams are eligible to apply. For the CBSE compartment exam in 2025, students are required to pay an application fee for each subject. The fee structure is as follows: – For private candidates in India: Rs 300 per subject – For private candidates in Nepal: Rs 1,000 per subject – For private candidates outside India: Rs 2,000 per subject Additionally, students who miss the application deadline will need to pay a late fee of Rs 2,000 in addition to the standard application fee. Payments can be made through debit card, credit card, or net banking, as stated in the official circular. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had announced the Class 10 and 12 results 2025 on May 13. The overall pass percentage has seen a minor increase. A total of 17,04,367 students had registered for the CBSE 2025 Class 12 examinations. Out of these, 16,92,794 students appeared, and 14,96,307 students passed the exam, bringing the pass rate to 88.39%. For the CBSE Class 10 exams, out of a total of 23,85,079 students who registered, 23,71,939 students appeared for the exams. Among them, 22,21,636 students successfully passed, bringing the overall pass percentage to an impressive figure — 93.66%. Over 44 lakh students across the country took the CBSE board examinations, which were held from February 15 to March 18. As many as 24.12 lakh CBSE Class 10 students took exams in 84 subjects, whereas 17.88 lakh Class 12 students took exams across 120 subjects.
