NEW YORK - Billy Joel's Long Island motorcycle shop, 20th Century Cycles, is closing down after nearly 15 years, the Associated Press reports. Billy Joel's shop shutting down What we know Joel will be closing the Oyster Bay shop and auctioning off his collection later in the year due to the diagnosis of his brain disorder. Joel canceled his tour earlier this year after being diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, a fluid buildup in the brain. A date for the auction has not been set as of this time. 20th Century Cycles The backstory The store, which opened in 2010, was created as a place to repair and upkeep Joel's motorcycles, as well as to showcase his collection of bikes to the public for free. The location is not far from where Joel grew up, in Hicksville. His goal was to bring business to downtown Oyster Bay. The shop quickly gained notoriety from both motorcycle enthusiasts, tourists and fans – it housed Joel's collection of over 75 motorcycles. Connor Zilisch Shares Surgery Update Following Scary Fall After Xfinity Series Win
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Connor Zilisch posted an update on social media after undergoing surgery for his broken collarbone. The 19-year-old driver fell off his car while celebrating his race win at Watkins Glen International. Zilisch's fall made headlines during the recent race weekend, given the intensity with which he fell head first. While a head injury was ruled out, Zilisch's broken collarbone needed to be fixed soon for him to be race-ready for the Wawa 250 at the Daytona International Speedway on August 22. Newsweek Sports reported Zilisch's comments following his fall, where he admitted that he might need surgery for a faster recovery. He said: "I think it might be something that I might have to get surgery for. But in this case, I think surgery is something that speeds up the process, so you can get plates and screws and get it reconstructed back together. More"Shane [van Gisbergen] talked about it — he had an injury in 2021 and broke his collarbone — he had plates, screws, everything done and he was racing back the next weekend. Thankfully, the collarbone is a relatively quick bone to fix and heal." Related: NASCAR's Connor Zilisch Gets Trolled by His Father After 'Embarrassing' Fall "We're still working out with all the doctors to figure out what's gonna be the next steps. But I've got a little motivation from Shane [van Gisbergen], my teammate, he had a plate put in and raced the weekend after. So, I don't know if I'll be that quick but hopefully my young bones will heal fast, and I'll be able to get back in it as soon as possible." Now, the 2025 Xfinity Series standings leader has confirmed that he underwent surgery on his collarbone. He posted on X: "Wanted to give everyone a quick update. Had surgery on my collarbone this morning to get a plate and screws to help with the healing process. Been a tough few days for me mentally, but all the love you guys have shown has certainly helped. Thank you." Wanted to give everyone a quick update. Had surgery on my collarbone this morning to get a plate and screws to help with the healing process. Thank you❤️ — Connor Zilisch (@ConnorZilisch) August 12, 2025 As a result of the injury, Zilisch was unable to race the following day in the Cup Series with Trackhouse Racing. On the topic of Zilisch's racing return, Trackhouse's team owner Justin Marks opened up. He said: "I think it's a discussion that we all have to have. We haven't really talked about much, obviously, since yesterday, but in the little bit that we've discussed in some of the quiet moments over the last 24 hours, it's going to have to be a group decision. "It's going to have to be sponsors, Chevrolet, the team, taking care of his development, taking care of him as a human and as an athlete, and then keeping his motivations high and making sure he knows he's got a group of people behind him that are supportive of him."

NASCAR Veteran Believes Only a 'Conspiracy' Can Beat Shane van Gisbergen
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. NASCAR Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin has stated that only a "conspiracy" can end Shane van Gisbergen's dominance on road and street courses. The statement arrives after van Gisbergen's recent victory at Watkins Glen International. The 36-year-old driver has proven that his performance remains unmatched, as he secured four consecutive race wins in his rookie Cup year, joining Chase Elliott and NASCAR Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon as the only drivers who won four road or street courses in a row. His win at Watkins Glen backs his recent multi-year contract extension with his team, Trackhouse Racing. Given his winning spree, Hamlin noted that van Gisbergen has only failed to win a race when he was taken out by another car as a result of an error. He jokingly stated on his Actions Detrimental podcast that only a conspiracy can prevent van Gisbergen from winning. He said: "There's going to be a race that something happens that's gonna take him out. Like, he got taken out of Chicago. Remember, in the wet somebody made a mistake. Shane Van Gisbergen, driver of the #88 WeatherTech Chevrolet, celebrates after winning the NASCAR Cup Series Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen International on August 10, 2025 in Watkins Glen, New York Shane Van Gisbergen, driver of the #88 WeatherTech Chevrolet, celebrates after winning the NASCAR Cup Series Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen International on August 10, 2025 in Watkins Glen, New York"Like, he definitely is able to be vulnerable to someone else making a mistake. He's not going to make it on his own. It's going to be into Turn 1. Somebody ping-pongs into someone else, and it knocks him into Shane after he just pitted. Like, that's what we need. We need a conspiracy." Hamlin also took aim at NASCAR in the podcast for making "horrible" business decisions that reportedly backfired, such as reducing the horsepower on the Next Gen car, which has allegedly made overtaking more difficult. He said: "I think that we have a fundamental car problem. It is no doubt a problem. Everyone that has ever driven it has said it's a problem. I believe that the Next Gen car is reaching hate levels of the COT (Car of Tomorrow) with the wing. From fans — I think they're starting to dislike this car as much as the drivers that have to drive it. "We've just steadily progressed our way back and back and back and back and taken horsepower away more and more and more. These are 10th floor decisions and let's just say us drivers are on the third floor. No business is immune to bad decisions. I think that the NASCAR business has made some horrible decisions over the last given amount of time and eventually, it catches up." Hamlin added that NASCAR is going to have to pay for those bad decisions. He said: "You can't just say, 'This is the direction I wanna go.' 'Well, why?' 'Well, this is the direction I wanna go,' and not eventually have to pay for that. You're going to have to pay for your bad decisions at some point. And this could be said for lots of things that have happened in those offices. We'll just see how it goes."
