Kajol Says Going Under The Knife Is Not Just For Women: ‘A Lot Of Men Are Doing It Too'

News184 days ago
Kajol says going under the knife is a personal choice and not gender-specific. The Sarzameen actress also shares an empowering view on aging, calling it a rare privilege.
Actress Kajol, currently riding high on the praise for her latest release Sarzameen alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan, recently opened up about the ongoing conversation around cosmetic surgery, botox, and how she personally approaches aging.
In a candid conversation with Filmfare as part of their In The Ring series, Kajol was asked about her views on going under the knife. She responded with grace and clarity, saying, 'To go under the knife or not go under the knife is everybody's personal journey. It is everybody's personal choice and that should be left to them — whether they are in the limelight or they aren't in the limelight. It is a personal choice, as to what works for you and what doesn't work for you."
Challenging the assumption that cosmetic procedures are limited to women, Kajol emphasized that it's an equally relevant choice for men, 'And let me just clarify it — it is not gender relevant. There are a lot of men who are doing it as well. In fact, equal amounts, I would say. Men who you probably do not know about or don't even want to comment on this particular stage. So, I would say that it is definitely something that is a personal choice."
When the conversation turned to aging, Kajol offered a philosophical and empowering perspective. She dismissed the notion that aging should be feared or avoided, and instead called it a privilege, 'And aging, as far as I am concerned, is in the mind. The privilege of aging is that you can do it. There are a lot of people who don't. There are a lot of people who've died young and never had the chance to age at all. That doesn't mean they're lucky. That just means they didn't have the chance to age and come forward in life. So yes, I have that many more wonderful years to live forward. And I'm looking forward to it."
On the work front, Kajol is receiving widespread acclaim for her latest film Sarzameen, directed by Kayoz Irani. Prior to this, she starred in Maa, a poignant drama helmed by Vishal Furia, where she shared the screen with Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Kherin Sharma. Maa was released in theatres on June 27.

Andy Cohen Was A 'Disaster' Shooting His And Just Like That Cameo With Sarah Jessica Parker

Andy made a brief appearance as a Bergdorf Goodman employee named Daniel in the latest episode of the show. Andy Cohen was a 'disaster" shooting his And Just Like That cameo. The Watch What Happens Live presenter made a brief appearance as a Bergdorf Goodman employee named Daniel in the latest episode of the show, and though he only had one line of dialogue in the scene with Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw, he still struggled. Speaking on his SiriusXM show, Andy said: 'I think the line in the script was just like, 'Oh hey, Carrie, I'll be with you in a sec.' Shooting these shows for me is very difficult. You have to literally walk four steps, say your line at a particular spot, and then keep going. There's a lot of blocking involved, and I just don't — I'm not good at it." After a few attempts, showrunner Michael Patrick King changed Andy's line to: 'Hey, Carrie, I'm slammed, I'll be with you in a minute." However, the broadcaster was reprimanded for his intense delivery. He admitted: 'When I tell you that I was marching out like, 'Carrie, I am slammed! I'm gonna be with you in a minute!' And Michael Patrick King comes over after we do it twice, and he goes, 'Um, this is a really pivotal scene for Carrie.' He didn't tell me, but now I know that she just had a big fight with Aiden." Michael told Andy: 'You're stealing focus from Carrie. The episode title should now be called Daniel's Busiest Day. And it's not about Daniel's Busiest Day, keep it on Carrie!'" Andy also received advice from Sarah. He added: 'It was very specific, and I was saying it in the wrong place. I was just a disaster. But it was so funny, the idea that it was 'Daniel's Busy Day.'" The 57-year-old producer joked that the scene used was 'the best they could get". The scene marked a call-back to Andy's previous appearance on Sex and the City, having played a then-unnamed shoe salesman during the sixth season, with Entertainment Weekly confirming was the same character. But Andy also had another cameo earlier in the original programme's run. He shared a screenshot in 2018 and wrote on Instagram: 'You may know that I was a Barney's shoe salesman in the last season of #SATC, but were you aware I appeared in Season 4 (I think) shirtless in a gay bar standing next to Carrie Bradshaw? (sic)" However, that scene was cut from TV but can be seen on the DVD. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Vidya Balan Reveals Vidhu Vinod Chopra Asked Her To Get A Nose Job For Parineeta: 'Get Surgery Done'

Vidhu Vinod Chopra told Vidya Balan that her nose was too long. Vidya Balan made a powerful entry into Bollywood with Parineeta (2005), a film adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's classic Bengali novel. Directed by Pradeep Sarkar and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Parineeta showcased Vidya not just as a newcomer, but as an actress of depth and grace, capable of carrying a film with subtle intensity. However, Vidya recently revealed to Filmfare that Vidhu asked her to get a nose job done for the film. 'Vidhu Vinod Chopra said, 'Your nose is too long, let's get a surgery done.' I refused. I've never had anything done to my face — just the odd facial. I've always believed in keeping my face the way God made it," Vidya stated. 'Parineeta was a massive success. Top directors started calling. But at photoshoots, they'd say, 'Let's try something new with you,' and I'd think, 'What have you even seen of me to want something new?' They'd say, 'Let's make you look younger and sexy.' I was open to experimenting, but after a while, it got frustrating," she added. Set in 1960s Kolkata, Parineeta tells the story of Lalita (played by Vidya), an orphan raised by her uncle, and her complex relationship with her childhood friend Shekhar (Saif Ali Khan). The film explores themes of love, pride, and societal boundaries, capturing the essence of old-world romance and class conflict. Lalita is a quiet but strong-willed woman whose emotional resilience and unwavering dignity become the heart of the story. What stood out was Vidya Balan's nuanced performance. She brought warmth, restraint, and emotional honesty to the role. Her chemistry with Saif Ali Khan was both tender and intense, anchoring the emotional weight of the film. Her ability to convey strength through silence and grace marked her as a refreshing departure from the typical debutante. Critics and audiences alike lauded her performance, earning her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and establishing her as a serious actor in the industry. Parineeta also won praise for its lush cinematography, soulful music by Shantanu Moitra, and the lyrical storytelling that echoed the elegance of Hindi cinema's golden era. Today, Parineeta is remembered as more than just a debut film—it is the beginning of Vidya Balan's journey as one of India's most respected actresses, known for choosing meaningful roles and redefining the portrayal of women in Indian cinema.
