Kajol Says Going Under The Knife Is Not Just For Women: ‘A Lot Of Men Are Doing It Too'
Actress Kajol, currently riding high on the praise for her latest release Sarzameen alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan, recently opened up about the ongoing conversation around cosmetic surgery, botox, and how she personally approaches aging.
In a candid conversation with Filmfare as part of their In The Ring series, Kajol was asked about her views on going under the knife. She responded with grace and clarity, saying, 'To go under the knife or not go under the knife is everybody's personal journey. It is everybody's personal choice and that should be left to them — whether they are in the limelight or they aren't in the limelight. It is a personal choice, as to what works for you and what doesn't work for you."
Challenging the assumption that cosmetic procedures are limited to women, Kajol emphasized that it's an equally relevant choice for men, 'And let me just clarify it — it is not gender relevant. There are a lot of men who are doing it as well. In fact, equal amounts, I would say. Men who you probably do not know about or don't even want to comment on this particular stage. So, I would say that it is definitely something that is a personal choice."
When the conversation turned to aging, Kajol offered a philosophical and empowering perspective. She dismissed the notion that aging should be feared or avoided, and instead called it a privilege, 'And aging, as far as I am concerned, is in the mind. The privilege of aging is that you can do it. There are a lot of people who don't. There are a lot of people who've died young and never had the chance to age at all. That doesn't mean they're lucky. That just means they didn't have the chance to age and come forward in life. So yes, I have that many more wonderful years to live forward. And I'm looking forward to it."
On the work front, Kajol is receiving widespread acclaim for her latest film Sarzameen, directed by Kayoz Irani. Prior to this, she starred in Maa, a poignant drama helmed by Vishal Furia, where she shared the screen with Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Kherin Sharma. Maa was released in theatres on June 27.

And Michael Patrick King comes over after we do it twice, and he goes, 'Um, this is a really pivotal scene for Carrie.' He didn't tell me, but now I know that she just had a big fight with Aiden." Michael told Andy: 'You're stealing focus from Carrie. The episode title should now be called Daniel's Busiest Day. And it's not about Daniel's Busiest Day, keep it on Carrie!'" Andy also received advice from Sarah. He added: 'It was very specific, and I was saying it in the wrong place. I was just a disaster. But it was so funny, the idea that it was 'Daniel's Busy Day.'"
