Stranded in Israel amid airstrikes, Caitlyn Jenner sips wine in bomb shelter and says, ‘Pray for us'

Caitlyn Jenner travelled to Israel as Pride Parade's guest of honour, but was caught in the middle of rising geopolitical tensions. Massive explosions were heard in Tehran and Tel Aviv as the conflict between the two Middle East neighbours escalated following attacks on nuclear bases and the death of several high-profile Iranian leaders. Iran on Friday launched a retaliatory strike on Israel. Major events, including the Pride Parade, were cancelled due to security concerns. The former Olympian then took to her X account to share an update about the attack, capturing multiple Iranian missiles in the sky, while writing, 'Pray for us.'

Tel Aviv has been on alert after Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles late at night. Jenner took to X (previously Twitter) to reassure followers about her safety. 'Quiet night in Tel Aviv. Pray for us all. We will prevail. I am happy to stand with Israel today, now more than ever,' she wrote alongside a photo on social media, seemingly from her hotel, showing plumes of smoke rising below. Caitlyn later updated her fans that she was taking shelter as the situation in the country worsened. 'We are back in the shelters in Tel Aviv. This looks like it is the third wave of attack from Iran.'
The 75-year-old also mentioned speaking to her daughter Kylie Jenner, 'I spoke with Kylie, and she urged me to stay safe. I reassured her.' Later, she was photographed drinking a glass of wine in a bomb shelter with an Israeli influencer. The image was shared by Regev Gur's X handle. Speaking to a local TV outlet later, she reassured, 'Don't worry, I'll keep myself safe, and they'll take care of me.' During her trip, Caitlyn also visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem earlier and documented the experience on social media. Her post read, 'My heart is here, with the beautiful people, in Israel.'

Tensions have peaked in the Middle East over the past day after the Israeli military launched a full-scale attack on Iran's air defence system. Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, accused Israel of starting the war and declared, 'The Iranian nation must be guaranteed that our response will not be half-measured.' He vowed that the country would 'inflict heavy blows' on Israel. According to CNN, Israel's attack on Iran resulted in the death of around 78 people, including senior military officials. Around 320 people were left injured, and the underground nuclear site at Natanz is reported to have been impacted because of the strike.
Meanwhile, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has taken shelter in a bunker alongside Defence Minister Israel Katz. More explosions were heard in Jerusalem on Saturday morning (India time) 'An additional barrage of missiles was launched toward the State of Israel,' Israel's defence force said in a statement.

(Photo by Iranian Red Crescent / AFP) Israel's air strikes on Iran had the 'clear support' of US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday, saying 'Our victory will be your victory. There had been reports in the Israeli press of friction between the two men in recent weeks as Netanyahu threatened to attack Iran, even as the U.S. was in talks with Tehran to secure restrictions on its long-contested nuclear programme. However, within hours of Israel launching its large-scale assault on Friday, Trump said the attacks were 'excellent' and 'very successful'. Netanyahu responded on Saturday by showering the U.S. leader with praise. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'Happy Birthday to you, President Donald J. Trump,' Netanyahu said in a statement. 'You've been an extraordinary leader, decisive, courageous, with a clear vision and clear action. You have done great things for Israel.' With Israeli warplanes attacking sites linked to Iran's atomic programme, Netanyahu framed the operation as part of a broader struggle between free societies and a 'criminal regime in Iran' that seeks to export violence across the world. 'Our enemy is your enemy… We're dealing with something that will threaten all of us sooner or later. Our victory will be your victory,' Netanyahu said in a video statement addressed to Trump on the US leader's birthday. 'This is what Israel is doing with the support, the clear support of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and the American people and many others in the world.' Iran has repeatedly denied Western accusations that it has covertly sought to develop nuclear bombs and it has accused the U.S. of being complicit in Israel's attacks this week – something Washington has rejected. Netanyahu also extended birthday congratulations to the U.S. military on its 250th anniversary, calling American troops 'guardians of freedom for two and a half centuries'.
