As per CM Yogi Adityanath's instruction for the grand success of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign to mark the
Independence Day
, the teams engaged by the district administration will motivate people by distributing 4,75,000 flags for hoisting.
Providing details of the proposed campaign, Chief Development Officer Himanshu Nagpal said that a district-level Tiranga Yatra will start from Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith and proceed to Sampurnanand Sanskrit University on Aug 13.
It will be followed by cultural programmes highlighting how Kashi played a significant role in the freedom struggle. Additionally, rallies will be organised from schools.
The CDO said more than 475,000 national flags are being prepared this year. To make this campaign successful, women from National Rural Livelihood Mission self-help groups are preparing 2,25,000 flags, and women associated with DUDA are preparing about 2,50,000 flags.

Based on the deliberations of the committee with stakeholders, Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) has been introduced as an option under NPS with the objective of providing defined benefits after retirement to the central government employees covered under the NPS, she said. Live Events The features of UPS, including the definition of family, have been designed in such a way as to ensure payment of assured payouts while also maintaining fiscal sustainability of the fund, she said. Further, she said, the government employees who opt for UPS under NPS would also be eligible for option for availing benefits under the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021 or the CCS (Extraordinary Pension) Rules, 2023, in the event of death of the government servant during service or his discharge on the ground of invalidation or disablement. UPS has been introduced through a notification by the government on January 24, 2025, as an option under NPS, she said. Under UPS, she said, assured payout is admissible on retirement at 50 per cent of the twelve-month average basic pay, immediately prior to retirement after a minimum 25 years of qualifying service. In case of a lesser qualifying service period, proportionate payout would be admissible, she said. Replying to another question, Sitharaman said the stock of household financial liabilities has increased by about 5.5 percentage points from March 2020 to March 2024, while the stock of household financial assets has increased by 20.7 percentage points during the same period. Thus, the net financial position of the households (stock of assets minus stock of liabilities) has improved as of 2023-24, she said. As per information received from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), she said, the penetration of retail loans of banks (retail loans as a per cent of gross loans and advances after adjusting for the merger of a non-bank with a bank) has increased moderately from 30.94 per cent in March 2024 to 31.48 per cent in March 2025. However, she said, the pace of year-on-year growth in the retail loans has moderated from 17.61 per cent in March 2024 to 14.05 per cent in March 2025. The asset quality in the retail loan segment of scheduled commercial banks is largely stable, with a Gross Non-Performing Assets ratio of 1.18 per cent as of March 2025, she said. Further, the share of unsecured retail loans is relatively low at 25 per cent of the retail loans and 8.3 per cent of aggregate gross advances. Moreover, she said, as per the latest data published by the National Statistics Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), the net household financial savings have increased from Rs 13.3 lakh crore in 2022-23 to Rs 15.5 lakh crore in 2023-24. Therefore, it is not likely to be of systemic concern to the asset quality of Indian banks .

"Hope PM Modi Restores J&K Statehood On August 15": J&K Deputy Chief Minister
Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Sunday expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would announce restoration of full statehood to the Union Territory from the ramparts of Red Fort in his address to the nation on Independence Day. Addressing a public meeting organised by the National Conference at Tali Morh Bari near here, Mr Choudhary recalled the events of August 5, 2019 and alleged the downgrading of a full-fledged state into two Union territories — J&K and Ladakh — was done arbitrarily. 'The people of Jammu and Kashmir have never accepted the 2019 decision. The promise made by the prime minister and home minister (Amit Shah) that statehood will be restored at an appropriate time must now be fulfilled.' "It is the most appropriate time to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir by pushing a bill regarding the same in current (Monsoon) session of parliament," the deputy chief minister said. "Hopefully, the PM shall announce restoration of statehood to J&K on August 15 during his speech to the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort," he said. Mr Choudhary also highlighted the achievements of the Omar Abdullah-led government like free travel for women in government-run buses, enhancement of marriage assistance from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000 for Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families, 200 units of free electricity for AAY households, and increase in pension for senior citizens, widows and physically challenged. National Conference provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta emphasized that the 2024 assembly elections have sent a clear message that the massive mandate given by the people in favour of the party is a rejection of the 2019 move to downgrade the erstwhile state into UT. He said the democratic mandate must be respected. Reaffirming the ruling party's commitment to equitable development, he said the National Conference has intensified its mass contact programme across Jammu region. 'We are reaching out to the people to listen to their grievances, ensure timely redressal, and make them aware of the achievements of the Omar Abdullah-led government over the past 10 months,' Mr Gupta said. He said the party firmly stands with the aspirations of people and will continue to advocate restoration of full statehood and the rights of the citizens of J&K.
