Delhi: Delivery boy stabbed during robbery
New Delhi [India], June 1 (ANI): A 30-year-old delivery boy was stabbed by two robbers in the DBG Road police station area of Delhi early on Sunday morning. The victim, identified as Dharmendra, was returning home on his bike when the assailants, riding a scooty, intercepted him, the police said.
According to police, the robbers snatched Dharmendra's mobile phone and around Rs4,000 in cash. When he resisted, one of the attackers stabbed him in the stomach before fleeing the scene.
Dharmendra was rushed to RML Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Authorities have launched a search operation to apprehend the culprits. Further investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old woman, identified as Menaka Singh, was allegedly strangled to death in the Baljeet Nagar area under the Patel Nagar police station, Delhi Police reported on Saturday.
According to Delhi Police, information was received regarding a murder in the Baljeet Nagar area of PS Patel Nagar. It was found that a 32-year-old lady identified as Menaka Singh was strangled. She was a homemaker whose husband works as a salesman in a Kirti Nagar furniture store.
The accused, Dharmendra Kumar, aged 28 years, has been arrested. (ANI)

"West Bengal rapidly turning into rape capital of India": Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar
Hooghly (West Bengal) [India], June 3 (ANI): Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar slammed the West Bengal government on Monday, claiming that the state is 'rapidly turning into the rape capital of India.' His comments came during a visit to Hooghly, where he met the family of a rape victim. A 13-yeard-old girl, who had been missing since May 27, was allegedly raped and murdered. The Srirampur Court in Hooghly sent the accused to custody. 'The most disturbing part is that the girl, who went missing on the 27th, was later found completely naked. She was also differently-abled. Unfortunately, this is not the only incident -- West Bengal is rapidly turning into the rape capital of India,' Majumdar told ANI. Earlier on Monday, Majumdar also visited the family of Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, who was repatriated to India on May 14 after being held in custody by Pakistan Rangers since April 23. Majumdar praised the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to bring the BSF jawan back. 'On the first day, when I spoke to his wife, the entire family was devastated. But despite the pain, they showed remarkable patience. Following that, under the leadership of our Prime Minister, and with the efforts of the Home Minister and Defence Minister, Purnam Kumar Shaw has been brought back home safely. This is truly commendable. Even earlier, under this leadership, we successfully brought Wing Commander Abhinandan back. This is the mark of a new India under PM Modi,' he said. Earlier on May 24, the BSF jawan expressed joy and relief upon arriving in his hometown of Rishra, West Bengal. 'I feel good. I came here to meet the people after the operation... I was worried about my parents, so I came home and met my entire family... I was there during the time of Operation Sindoor, and my parents were worried, so I came to meet them,' the BSF Jawan said. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed happiness over BSF Jawan PK Shaw's safe return. She said the Trinamool Congress government had made efforts for his safe return. Cop Steals Rs 50 Lakh, Gold From Delhi Police's Warehouse, Arrested
New Delhi: Exposing the criminal mentality of some men in Khaki, the Delhi Police arrested one of its own personnel for stealing Rs 50 lakh and valuables from the anti-terror unit's warehouse in South Delhi, an official said on Monday. Head Constable Khurshid, who was shifted out of the Special Cell to the East District a few days ago, was arrested on Saturday for stealing Rs 50 lakh in cash in addition to gold jewellery of an unspecified amount from the Special Cell malkhana (store room) at the Lodhi Road office, the official said. He was identified and arrested using CCTV footage of Friday night when the theft took place, he said, adding that the stolen items have been recovered. According to officials, Khurshid relied upon departmental information about the presence of valuables and cash in the malkhana to execute the theft. Khurshid managed to execute his plan flawlessly and could have got away easily but for an alert malkhana incharge who detected that there was something amiss in the warehouse, the police said. The arrested Head Constable was earlier posted in the malkhana but was transferred to East Delhi a few days ago, said an official. "He was aware of the articles kept in the warehouse and also the process to access them," he said. He allegedly timed his theft around his transfer so that the suspicion of the absence of the valuables and cash would fall on his other colleagues in the Special Cell's malkhana. The Special Cell is a specialised unit of the Delhi Police tasked to prevent, detect and investigate cases of terrorism, organised crime and other serious crimes in Delhi. While penal offences committed by policemen are probed by the law enforcers themselves, allegations of misconduct with public are investigated by the Delhi government's Police Complaints Authority. Authority Chairperson Justice Poonam A. Bamba, former Judge of the Delhi High Court, said in the Annual Report 2023-24 that a total of 1,688 complaints were received and carried forward during the period. During the year, 649 cases were disposed of, leaving 1,039 cases pending. The percentage of disposals stood at 38.44 per cent. The Authority is also authorised to probe public complaints related to extortion, land or house grabbing and other incidents involving serious abuse of authority. Complaints of illegal detention, police custody death or rape and grievous hurt in police custody are also probed by the Authority.

J-K DGP reviews security arrangements for Amarnath Yatra, Eid-Ul-Adha and upcoming events
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 2 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, on Monday, chaired a joint meeting with officers from the Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) at Police Control Room Kashmir to review the security arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025, Eid-Ul-Adha and other upcoming events. At the onset of the meeting, the participating officers briefed the chair regarding the proposed security arrangements for the conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025 and the upcoming Eid-Ul-Adha, emphasising the significance of effective coordination among the various forces. According to a release, during the meeting, J-K DGP issued directions for implementing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and also emphasised the importance of proactive measures in mitigating risks and ensuring the safety and security of the participants. He also directed the field officers to intensify their efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem, ensuring robust security arrangements for the upcoming events. DGP instructed the officers to bolster security measures and mitigate potential risks by deploying Anti-Sabotage teams along the yatra routes. He also directed the officers to enhance surveillance and threat detection capabilities by utilising advanced technologies and real-time monitoring. The meeting concluded with a resolve to ensure the highest level of preparedness and coordination for the smooth and successful conduct of all the events. The meeting was attended by Spl. DGP Coord. S.J.M Gillani-IPS, ADGP Armed, Anand Jain-IPS, IGP Kashmir, IGP POS PHQ J&K, IG CRPF Srinagar, IG CRPF KOS, IG BSF, all range DIsG of Kashmir Zone, DIG Pers, DIG Traffic Kashmir, DIG IR Kashmir, DIG AP Kashmir, DIG SSB, DIG ITBP, all district SSsP of Kashmir Zone and other senior officers. Shri Amarnathji Yatra is scheduled from July 3 to August 9. As the sacred yatra approaches, coordination between departments, early security deployments, and structured logistical planning are being emphasised to ensure the safe passage and spiritual experience of every pilgrim heading to Baba Barfani's darshan. The holy festival of Eid al-Adha, also known as the 'festival of sacrifice' or Greater Eid, is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic or lunar calendar. This year, the festival is likely to be celebrated on June 7. Eid al-Adha is the second Islamic festival of the year and follows Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. The date changes every year, as it's based on the Islamic lunar calendar, which is about 11 days shorter than the Western 365-day Gregorian calendar. It is celebrated as a commemoration of Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice everything for God. (ANI)
