J-K DGP reviews security arrangements for Amarnath Yatra, Eid-Ul-Adha and upcoming events
At the onset of the meeting, the participating officers briefed the chair regarding the proposed security arrangements for the conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025 and the upcoming Eid-Ul-Adha, emphasising the significance of effective coordination among the various forces.
According to a release, during the meeting, J-K DGP issued directions for implementing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and also emphasised the importance of proactive measures in mitigating risks and ensuring the safety and security of the participants. He also directed the field officers to intensify their efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem, ensuring robust security arrangements for the upcoming events.
DGP instructed the officers to bolster security measures and mitigate potential risks by deploying Anti-Sabotage teams along the yatra routes. He also directed the officers to enhance surveillance and threat detection capabilities by utilising advanced technologies and real-time monitoring.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to ensure the highest level of preparedness and coordination for the smooth and successful conduct of all the events.
The meeting was attended by Spl. DGP Coord. S.J.M Gillani-IPS, ADGP Armed, Anand Jain-IPS, IGP Kashmir, IGP POS PHQ J&K, IG CRPF Srinagar, IG CRPF KOS, IG BSF, all range DIsG of Kashmir Zone, DIG Pers, DIG Traffic Kashmir, DIG IR Kashmir, DIG AP Kashmir, DIG SSB, DIG ITBP, all district SSsP of Kashmir Zone and other senior officers.
Shri Amarnathji Yatra is scheduled from July 3 to August 9. As the sacred yatra approaches, coordination between departments, early security deployments, and structured logistical planning are being emphasised to ensure the safe passage and spiritual experience of every pilgrim heading to Baba Barfani's darshan.
The holy festival of Eid al-Adha, also known as the 'festival of sacrifice' or Greater Eid, is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic or lunar calendar. This year, the festival is likely to be celebrated on June 7.
Eid al-Adha is the second Islamic festival of the year and follows Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. The date changes every year, as it's based on the Islamic lunar calendar, which is about 11 days shorter than the Western 365-day Gregorian calendar. It is celebrated as a commemoration of Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice everything for God. (ANI)

Son Of Air India Plane Crash Victim Moves US Federal Court Against Boeing
Ahmedabad (Gujarat): Hir Prajapati, who lost his mother, Kalpana Ben Prajapati, in the AI-171 plane crash, has moved to the US Federal Court against Boeing, expecting speedy justice. Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, Mr Prajapati said that they have hired lawyer Mike Andrews to represent them. He said, "We have hired Mike Andrews. We expect the raw details of information from the black-box to come before us at the earliest so that we can make further decisions regarding the next course of steps, along with our lawyer. In India, trials get dragged out for years. We are fighting the case in the US so that a decision is pronounced early." Hir Prajapati expressed gratitude towards the Indian government, police and doctors for helping the family. "We believe we will get the incident happened, the government helped us a lot. The police also helped us. We are thankful to the doctors too, who handed over the bodies to us after a swift DNA test," he said. He added that he had initially scheduled a flight for June 11 for her mother but changed it to June 12 at her request. "My mother, Kalpana Ben Prajapati, died in the accident...I had initially booked a June 9 flight for her, but she had a fast and she told me that she cannot travel that day. So, I then rescheduled it to June 11. But she told me that she doesn't want to travel on an odd date. So, I finally booked a ticket for June 12," Prajapati said. Following a candle march by the families of the victims of the crash, Mike Andrews, lead lawyer, representing over 65 victim families, said that the families are searching for answers. Mr Andrews told ANI, "Today marks the two-month anniversary of this tragedy. It has been a very difficult day for everyone involved. The families organised a candlelight vigil to stand in remembrance. We are thankful and grateful to have been invited to come and are no words to think of the families are back now, searching for answers." On June 12, Air India flight AI-171, a Boeing 787-8 aircraft, crashed soon after it took off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, killing 260 people, including 229 passengers, 12 crew members, and 19 people on the ground.

Over 30,000 illegal Afghans repatriated from Pakistans Quetta
Quetta [Pakistan], August 13 (ANI): Over 30,000 Afghan nationals illegally residing in Quetta division have been repatriated to Afghanistan in less than a month, official sources told Pakistani government had set a deadline of July 31 for all illegal Afghans living in Pakistan to return to their home country. While many refugees complied after the deadline, a significant number remained, prompting authorities to launch legal action against those who ignored the order, Dawn teams comprising police, Frontier Corps, FIA, and district administration were formed to take action against undocumented Afghans, Dawn Tuesday, a meeting chaired by Quetta division commissioner Shahzeb Khan Kakar reviewed the ongoing crackdown on illegal Afghans in the province. The meeting was attended by deputy commissioner of Quetta retired Captain Meharullah Badini, assistant commissioner Kaleemullah, and representatives from police, FIA, NADRA, special branch, PTA, home department, and other relevant agencies. Deputy commissioners of Qila Abdullah and Pishin, as well as the SP of Pishin, joined the meeting online, according to informed the meeting that coordination between agencies had been strengthened to accelerate the operation against illegal Afghans. The commissioner instructed the teams to conduct daily operations targeting undocumented Afghans and to collect records of all illegal residents' bank accounts and mobile SIMs. He emphasized the importance of involving local elders and community leaders to ensure the repatriation process proceeds peacefully, Dawn further directed that special care must be taken regarding women and children during the operation and urged all departments to work closely together to devise an effective strategy for the repatriation of all illegal Afghans to Afghanistan, according to Dawn. This crackdown on illegal Afghans in Quetta division comes amid intensified security operations in the province, as Pakistan's army claimed yesterday to have killed 50 militants, including members of the Baloch Liberation Army and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, during a four-day operation near the Afghanistan border in Balochistan, Khaama Press region is crucial for Chinese infrastructure projects and has been a hotspot for insurgent activity. Merely Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID not sufficient proof of citizenship: Bombay HC
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 13 (ANI): Rejecting the bail application of a man alleged to be a Bangladeshi national, the Bombay High Court noted that Aadhaar, PAN, and Voter ID, without verification, cannot be treated as sufficient proof of judgement by single-judge bench of Justice Amit Borkar said on Tuesday, 'Merely relying on the existence of certain identity documents such as Aadhaar, PAN, or Voter ID, without verification of the process through which these were obtained, cannot be treated as sufficient proof of lawful citizenship at this stage, particularly when the very authenticity of such documents is under investigation."Justice Borkar mentioned that the claim of citizenship can only be examined under the rules of the Citizenship Act, 1955.'The claim of citizenship must be examined strictly under the rules of the Citizenship Act, 1955, including whether the person meets the conditions under Sections 3 to 6, or any special provisions applicable to their case," the judgement prosecution alleged that the applicant is a Bangladeshi national and has forged the identity cards. During the investigation, the police found his birth certificate belonging to the court at this stage has not decided whether the documents presented by the accused are forged or not.'During the investigation, the applicant's mobile phone was taken by the police as per law and sent for forensic examination. From the data recovered from the phone, copies of two birth certificates were found, one said to be of the applicant himself and the other of a woman claimed to be his mother. Both these documents show the place of birth as being in Bangladesh… The Court is not deciding at this stage whether the documents are true or false, that will be decided at the trial. But the fact that such documents have been found on the applicant's own phone is important and cannot be ignored," Justice Borkar said in his judgment. Rejecting the bail plea, Justice Borkar said that the accused can apply for bail if the trial is not concluded within a year. 'However, it shall be open for the applicant to revive his request for bail if the trial is not concluded within a period of one year from today," the judgment read. (ANI)
