Love Island's Lucy finally admits truth over leaked voicenotes as she's confronted by Maya Jama

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Love Island star Lucy Quinn has addressed the infamous voicenote that was leaked before she entered the ITV2 villa in which she seemingly laid out her plan to win.
Lucy Quinn has finally addressed her viral voicenote following her exit from the Love Island villa.

The makeup artist, 21, was dumped from the Island last week alongside Tommy Bradley but faced backlash when a message she had sent to a friend before entering the ITV2 reality show as a Bombshell was leaked. In the 37-second recording, fans heard her plan to couple up with Tommy - who at that point had just finished dating Megan Forte Clarke - as a supposedly guaranteed way to make it to the final, and was grilled by host Maya Jama on the incident during an appearance on Sunday's Aftersun.

She explained: "So obviously, like, we probably have all done it, like, sent voice notes to friends and obviously, I really did trust that friend. So, with the Tommy situation, I was just saying that he's a very nice boy and, like, that's why I wanted to get to know him." Insisting that she did not intend for the message to come across as a game plan to win, she said: "I did say 'Til the end', but it weren't like, the final, obviously, I was meaning, like, I wanted to be with him in the future. Someone with really good morals and stuff like that.

The Liverpudlian also used her airtime to insist that Tommy is a boy her father approved of, and profusely apologised to Megan, whom she had labelled a "f***king little slapper" but insisted she is not normally the type of person who would say that. She added: "And, also, before going on the show, my dad did say to me, like, 'He's the kind of boy I'd like you to bring home because he's just very respectful. And then, obviously, talking about Meghan as well, I should never have commented on someone who I've never met before. So I do really apologise about that, I'm actually not that type of girl. "
Lucy claimed that the whole scandal has "been blown out of proportion" and that she didn't expect everyone to hear the voice note in the first place. In response, Maya told her: "That's definitely not a good friend, I hope you blocked her after that" and Lucy confirmed that she is no longer in contact with the person who leaked the voice note.

In the original message, obtained by The Sun, Lucy is explained that her appearance on Love Island was likely to be happening within the next couple of days, and that she had been asked by producers to name her top three boys but only named Tommy.
She said: "Because everyone loves him. I don't know if you've been watching it but that Megan's being sent home and I'm f**king made up. And she's being sent home because of the way she's treated Tommy. And do you know what, I'm made up that I've been watching it because I know how to act."
Prior to Lucy's entrance into the villa, Megan, 24, herself entangled in a love triangle with Conor Philips despite being initially paired with Tommy Bradley, was seen locking lips with Conor on the terrace - later spilling to the other girls: "I kissed Conor on the terrace... I was like 'just f**king kiss me then... he was itching to do it." Following a dramatic confrontation, Tommy washed his hands of the romantic tug-of-war, leaving Conor free to pursue Megan - but fate had other plans as a surprise public vote saw her leave the villa soon after.

In the days after her exit, Tommy became involved with Emily Moran before Lucy came on the scene
Speaking candidly to Ode Entertainment post-villa life, Megan opened up about the tensions between herself, Tommy, and Conor, revealing an impulsive side she now regrets. On TikTok, the lass from Dublin divulged: "I wish I'd taken a breath", adding a frank admission: "You know when you hear something and you just see red, and I saw red for about four days."
She lamented the poorly timed intervention by Conor, stating: "And then obviously while I was seeing red, Conor swooped in so it was just really bad timing. Of course, you only see the hour out of the 24."
Confirming her and Tommy parted ways amicably, the musical theatre star stated: "When you see red like that, someone needs to sit you down and say like 'girl'." She elaborated: "I felt like the girls were seeing where I was coming from, so I think that's why I got more wound up."

Love Island receive over 1,000 complaints following 'bullying' scenes

Ofcom has revealed that Love Island received over 1000 complaints by viewers about the ITV2 show last week, with many outraged by Islander Harrison's 'misogynistic' behaviour Ofcom has revealed that Love Island received over 1,000 complaints last week, with viewers accusing Harrison and other contestants of displaying "misogynistic" behaviour. A total of 1,071 complaints were made across four episodes last week, with Friday's episode drawing in the highest number - 527 complaints. ‌ Ofcom told The Mirror that 280 of the complaints were related to "misogynistic behaviour, most notably by Harrison, Harry and Dejon," while 247 focused on "bully behaviour and mental wellbeing of contestants, most notably linked to Shakira being bullied" during the 18 July episode. ‌ Meanwhile, fans had already threatened to contact Ofcom last week over Shakira's treatment by Harry, Harrison, and Dejon, particularly after Harrison referred to Shakira and Conor as a "one-sided couple." ‌ As for the other episodes which received complaints, Sunday 20 July had 222 viewers complain over "alleged misogynistic behaviour by Dejon." Meanwhile, on Tuesday, 15 July, a total of 221 viewers lodged complaints, with the majority expressing concern over the "alleged misogynistic behaviour by Harrison." ‌ However, 44 were related to "how Lauren was portrayed in the edit of the episode" and 34 were about the "alleged bullying behaviour towards Shakira and Toni." For the episode on 17 July, 69 viewers complained about Harrison's "alleged misogynistic behaviour", while 27 complained about "alleged bullying behaviour and expressed concern for the mental wellbeing of Shakira." ‌ Ofcom has not yet confirmed whether it will launch an investigation into ITV in response to the complaints. ITV has several duty of care protocols in place, including providing Islanders with training before entering the villa that covers language, behaviour and the importance of mutual respect in relationships. It had been a pretty dramatic week inside the Love Island villa, with Lauren - who was previously coupled up with Harrison - being dumped from the villa after she was left single. Just a day later, viewers watched as Harrison chose to leave the villa and follow Lauren, with the controversial contestant revealing he still had feelings for him. ‌ During last Tuesday's episode, which received over 200 Ofcom complaints, viewers were left shocked after ITV aired a saucey bedroom exchange between Harrison and Lauren. Harrison could be seen reaching over to Helena and Harry's bed in the night and asking: "Do you have a condom?" Helena quickly grabbed one from a drawer, and Harry handed it over before the couple slipped under the covers. However, fans were unimpressed by the moment, especially since Harrison had recently admitted he still had feelings for his ex, Toni. Taking to X, one viewer wrote: "Did Harry just pass a condom to Lauren and Harrison???! I didn't know I was watching too hot to handle," while a second shocked fan said: "I have never. In all my years seen someone ask for a condom on #loveisland. Like yayyyyy for sexual safety but that is tooooooooooo much."

I know why desperate Meghan and Harry REALLY held peace talks – they'll be begging for handouts now, expert claims

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A ROYAL expert has claimed the real reason why Meghan and Harry held peace talks, saying the Duke and Duchess will now be begging for handouts. Journalist and author Robert Jobson made the revealing comments whilst appearing on The Sun's latest Royal Exclusive show. Mr Jobson, talking to The Sun's Matt Wilkinson said: 'Well, the deal was always set about $100 million, wasn't it? 'And the talk of that figure sort of blew a lot of people's minds, but I think that was for productions and things that they're supposed to have done. 'Where does it leave them? Probably with a bit of a bowl out, looking for some handouts.' He added: 'Maybe that's why they were over with their staff, were over here having discussions with the King. I don't know. 'The reality is in the past they got support from the King and the late Queen, and they said they were going to go and make their way. 'They've lost Spotify, they've lost Netflix. 'They can't rely on the spare money forever, can they?' The show's other guest, Sky News' royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills also speculated what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would now do for money. She said: 'It's just fascinating. They have this very expensive lifestyle. Meghan and Harry must need more money - their staff induction bill alone will be HUGE 'They have to pay for their security, pay for that big mansion. 'How do you kind of keep the money coming in?' Earlier this month it was revealed Netflix will not renew their contract when it expires in September. The Sussexes and Netflix have mutually decided not to make an official announcement. But streaming execs have quietly agreed to part ways. It comes after Harry's vanity project, Polo, about the sport, was watched by just 500,000 people. It was also understood that bosses were mildly infuriated by Meghan making her As Ever brand a priority. A source said streamer Paramount+ was thought to be keen to work with the couple, who would be open to it if the right project came along. Last month it was announced Netflix had signed a deal with King Charles and Idris Elba for a documentary exploring the impact of the King's Trust. And it was understood any deal with the Sussexes could be seen as a hindrance to that link-up. Netflix declined to comment. Harry is said to have 'given his blessing' for the peace talks involving two of his team plus the King and Queen's director of communications. They spoke about potential ways to end their family conflict, though a proposal for Harry to make a royal return was not on the agenda. Adding intrigue to the developments, Prince William's team were not involved in the London summit. California-based Harry is next due to visit the UK in September for the annual WellChild events. It opens up the prospect of meeting his father for the first time in 18 months. Buckingham Palace had also supported the proposals to 'open a channel of communication' — it has been claimed. 5 The loss of the Netflix deal comes after the couple lost their deal with Spotify Credit: AP
