Moushumi Chatterjee Recalls Rajesh Khanna's 'Nasty' Remark: 'I Never Cared If You're A Superhero'
Moushumi and Rajesh Khanna shared the screen in many notable films such as Prem Bandhan, Anuraag, Vijay, Ghar Parivaar, and Humshakal.
Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee didn't mince words while recalling a shocking comment once made by late superstar Rajesh Khanna. In a recent interview, she revisited a moment from the past when Khanna made a 'nasty" remark implying her daughter might not be her husband Jayanta Mukherjee's child but Vinod Mehra's. Moushumi's sharp and fearless retort left him stunned.
Speaking to Nayandeep Rakshit, the actress revealed that many underestimated her ability to stand up for herself. 'People used to get angry because I was never bothered so much. They used to be like, chalo time mila toh isko cheddte hain, so I used to give it back," she shared.
Moushumi reflected on the pattern of men making such remarks under the garb of humour. 'He thought that is fun. A lot of people who pass nasty remarks don't realise that they are actually showing what they are. You come from that surrounding. Nobody thought I can give it back. I was always like that. I never cared if you are a superhero or super heroine or anything like that," she said.
She added that for her, every human deserves equal respect regardless of status. 'If you are super, even while working as a spot boy, salute from me," she stated.
Despite the incident, Moushumi continued to work with Khanna in several films. 'I did movies with him after that as well. It was never awkward between me and him. Raat gayi, baat gayi. He also distanced himself, thinking she wasn't an easy nut to crack," she recalled.
In a separate appearance on Lehren Retro, Chatterjee revealed her fiery comeback to Khanna's taunt. 'Yes, I gave him back. I asked him, 'Is it Rishi Kapoor's child or yours?'" she said, referencing Khanna's children with Dimple Kapadia. According to her, the response left him completely speechless.
Moushumi and Rajesh Khanna shared the screen in many notable films such as Prem Bandhan, Anuraag, Vijay, Ghar Parivaar, and Humshakal.

Coolie Box Office Collection Day 7: Rajinikanth's Film Is At Rs 222.5 Crore And Counting
New Delhi: Rajinikanth's Coolie completed a week at the box office since its release. After seven days, the domestic earnings stand at Rs 222.5 across languages. What's Happening On Wednesday, the film minted Rs 6.50 crore across all languages, registering a sharp fall from its Tuesday collection of Rs 9.5 crore. Coolie's Tamil earnings dropped substantially from its opening day. The Hindi earnings also don't look promising in the week one. Coolie, released on the eve of Independence Day, minted Rs 65 crore with Rs 44.5 crore in Tamil alone on the first day (August 14). On day two, the film minted Rs 54.75 at the domestic box office. Coolie received mixed reviews. The word-of-mouth from the audience might have impacted its numbers over the weekend. On Saturday, the film managed to earn Rs 39.5 crore across all languages. Coolie emerged as Rajinikanth's all-time highest opener at the box office. The film missed the spot of being the highest opener for Tamil cinema as Lokesh Kanagaraj-Vijay's Leo set the highest opening record of Rs 66 crore at the box office. About Coolie Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie marks Rajinikanth's 171st film. The movie also features Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir and Sathyaraj in key roles. Aamir Khan will make a cameo appearance in the film. Coolie is produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures. In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and wrote, "Coolie plays out in a man's world. The likes of Preethi, notwithstanding the amount of screen time she has, is only of secondary importance. So is everybody else in the film and that includes the writer-director himself. It is Rajinikanth the star and Deva the character who call the shots all the way through. Should anybody be complaining?" Coolie is clashing with War 2, led by Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. However, the two big-ticket films have failed to set an impressive number at the box office after one week of its release.
