Girlfriend of British Superbikes rider who died in 11-bike pile up suffers double tragedy after previous boyfriend was killed in motorcycle race nine years ago

Daily Mail06-05-2025

The girlfriend of a British Superbikes rider who was killed in a horrific 11-bike smash has suffered a double tragedy after losing her former partner in a motorcycle crash nine years ago.
Shane Richardson, 29, and Owen Jenner, 21, died following a devastating multi-bike collision that saw the 11 riders go down at the very first turn of Monday's race at Oulton Park, Cheshire.
The shocking crash, captured live on television, showed one rider lose control exiting Turn One - Old Hall Corner - before skidding across the tarmac and into the path of other competitors.
What followed was a terrifying chain reaction, with multiple bikes piling into each other and one catching fire as medics rushed to the scene.
Among the fatalities was Mr Richardson, who leaves behind two children and his partner, Hannah James, a former grid girl.
In a heartbreaking tribute, Ms James updated her profile picture with a photo of herself and Mr Richardson, beaming at the camera alongside their two children.
In a tragic twist, this is the second time Ms James has lost a boyfriend during a motorcycle race. Her former partner, Billy Redmayne, died following a crash in an accident at the Oliver's Mount Spring Cup in North Yorkshire in 2016.
Mr Redmayne was airlifted to hospital, but his brain injuries were too severe to recover from, and he passed away surrounded by his loved ones, including Ms James, aged just 25.
Monday's tragic crash was shown on live TV, but the Oulton Park event was subsequently cancelled as medical personnel rushed to the scene.
Shortly afterwards, the Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board and MotorSport Vision Racing released a statement confirming that Richardson and Jenner had died from the injuries they sustained.
The statement read: 'At the start of this afternoon's Quattro Group British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park, exiting turn one, Old Hall corner on the first lap, there was a chain reaction incident involving 11 riders falling.
'The race was immediately stopped, and trackside medical services deployed.
'Due to the extreme severity of the incident and ongoing medical intervention, the remainder of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship event was cancelled.
'This catastrophic accident has tragically resulted in two riders being fatally injured and another sustaining significant injuries.
'The Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board and MotorSport Vision Racing are investigating the full circumstances of the incident in conjunction with the Coroner and Cheshire Constabulary.'
In addition to the motorsport authorities conducting an investigation, the police have also launched their own probe.
'Police are investigating two deaths on behalf of the coroner following a multiple collision at Oulton Park this afternoon - Monday 5 May,' a police spokesperson said.
As James grieves the tragic loss of her boyfriend, Richardson's final social media from before his death has emerged.
Richardson had taken to Instagram to share an interview as he expressed his excitement for Monday's race.
He said: 'Sprint race was good. Bad start, went backwards quite a few positions.
'But we managed to figure it out, get some good consistent pace going, matching the times with a few of the boys ahead of us.
'So yeah, looking forward to tomorrow, hopefully get a better start and be a bit more in the mix.'

They decided to investigate a suspect believed to be armed at 9.50pm. The suspect fled on foot into a nearby apartment as cops ran behind, according to Chicago Police Department Supt. Larry Snelling. When police entered the apartment, another person pointed a rifle at them. An officer discharged his weapon during the confrontation leading Rivera to be shot, Snelling said. As she was being transported to the local hospital, the police vehicle reportedly caught fire and as a result, Rivera had to be put in another car, according to Snelling. She was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. Another officer suffered a wrist injury, requiring hospitalization, according to Fox 32 Chicago. Dozens of police officers and firefighters paid their respects, walking in procession at 3am from the hospital to the Cook County Medical Examiners Office. He added: 'She was a hero, and she lost her life tragically doing the job that she loved. 'That was one of the things that her mother said, she loved her job, and the way that she worked.' In an Instagram post, the Chicago Fire Department posted a picture of the tragic officer, saying she 'made the ultimate sacrifice in service' to the city. According to Snelling, two people inside the apartment fled the apartment but were taken into custody soon after. He added that 'several individuals" are in custody, as three weapons were recovered from the scene. Police and the Chicago Office of Police Accountability, which assesses incidents that involve officers firing weapons, are conducting an investigation. Speaking about Rivera, Snelling said: 'She had already processed two other guns working that day. 'She was a working police officer trying to keep the street safe. And she did great work. "And if you talk to anyone on her team, they would tell you how great of a worker she was. "This is the risk that our officers take every single day.' Snelling added that "this happens way too often", saying: "An officer, a young officer, 36-years-old and four years on the job. Who was working hard… these officers are out here driving down crime while putting their lives at risk. 'I want everyone to keep this officer's family in your prayers and understand the risk that she took every single day when she came out to do her job.' Police are reportedly issuing a search warrant for the apartment, and a forensic investigation is said to be underway in the apartment 7 'This happens way too often,' said Snelling Credit: Facebook

Coleen and Wayne Rooney's marriage laid bare after make-or-break decision

Coleen and Wayne Rooney have had some rollercoaster times in their marriage - but as they prepare to celebrate their 12-year anniversary, a source claims they've 'never been stronger' Wayne and Coleen Rooney were photographed looking more down in the dumps than loved-up on a pre-anniversary dinner date last week – but a source tells new they couldn't be happier. The power couple tied the knot on 12 July 2008, with the priest stating that the future would have its 'pleasures and pains, its joys and sorrows'. Truer words were never spoken as the couple, both 39, have since found themselves embroiled in public cheating scandals, brushes with the law, shock job losses and, of course, the famous Wagatha Christie court battle with Rebekah Vardy. 'They've had a lot of heartbreak and troubles,' our source said. ‌ ‌ 'Wayne has put his hands up and apologised for his fair share of them but they've made it through it all – a lot of people thought they wouldn't. The Wagatha court case was another drama but it actually brought them closer together. Wayne was so supportive and that really meant a lot to Coleen. At the moment, their marriage has never been better or stronger." Over the years, the childhood sweethearts, who met on their local Croxteth estate as young teens, have remained united, if a little bruised at times. Former Manchester United ace Wayne was the trigger for most of the dramas, which started with allegations of him having a threesome behind Coleen's back when she was pregnant with their firstborn son, Kai, in 2009. He was then charged with drink-driving in 2017 after being pulled over by police with fellow party-goer Laura Simpson in the passenger seat beside him. Shortly after the arrest, Coleen took to Facebook to deliver a lengthy statement about her marriage, and declared defiantly she would be 'fine on her own' with just her children. 'But I don't want to live like that,' she continued. 'I want to try and continue our marriage and live as a family because that's what I want to do. I know my own mind and it's something I want to try and work on… Yes, it has been a s**t time.' ‌ But that wasn't the last of their so-called s**t times, as the I'm A Celebrity runner-up puts it. They found themselves at the centre of another storm recently when a video published on X led to speculation about Wayne returning to his wayward ways. The heavily-edited clip was filmed in the Devon apartment Wayne lived in during his short-lived tenure as Plymouth Argyle manager, and showed a tracksuit-clad man, believed to be Wayne, letting a woman inside the front door. However, Wayne wasn't prepared to ignore the accusations, and released a statement on Instagram defending himself against the rumours and denying any wrongdoing. Over the years, even Coleen, who shares sons Kai, 15, Klay, 12, Kit, nine, and Cass, seven, with Wayne, has admitted there were some who doubted she would – or should – get over her public heartache. In their bombshell Rooney documentary that aired in 2022, she tackled the topic of their lowest moments head on, and confessed she'd learnt to block out other people's opinions. ‌ 'When you're making those decisions you've got to focus on what you want and not other people because' she said, 'you have so many people saying different things to you. 'Oh, why is she getting back with him?' 'Obviously, I listen to the people that matter to me, my mum and dad; they've always given me a positive outlook on things.' Last year, Coleen had her own positive moment in the spotlight when she was voted into second place on I'm A Celebrity. She was reportedly one of the series' highest paid stars, and didn't disappoint during her three weeks in the jungle. Viewers loved seeing a less polished and often hilarious version of the mum-of-four, who said afterwards she'd had 'so many people coming up to me and saying that they understand my life'. ‌ Speaking on the Stick To Football podcast earlier this year, shortly after Wayne left his role as Plymouth manager, Coleen also addressed the doubts about her marriage, saying, 'People are so opinionated, but I've always thought that it's my life, so let me get on with it – it's got nothing to do with anyone else.' According to our source, the pair remain unshakeable and will continue to weather the storms that come their way. 'They've honestly been through so many ups and downs but Coleen has loved Wayne since she was 16. It's a love that can't be broken and they're really happy to be celebrating their anniversary in such a great place. 'They've got a wonderful family and, despite everything, have managed to remain in love and strong after all these years. Coleen couldn't be happier they've made it through and is now glad she always stuck with it.'

Horror moment jiu-jitsu student left PARALYZED from neck down after being slammed by instructor ‘Sinistro'

THIS is the horror moment a jiu-jitsu student was left paralysed from the neck down after being slammed by his black belt instructor. Jack Greener, a beginner white belt, was seen receiving horrific injuries after his instructor put on a move that struck his neck. 4 Moment Greener's trainer put on a move that struck his neck. The beginner was on all fours when his instructor flipped him forward before twisting his head and neck. Greener immediately lost control over his body and fell to the ground. He was rushed to the hospital - just days before he was supposed to graduate from college in 2018. The horrific accident crushed his cervical vertebrae, effectively paralysing his entire body below the neck. Greener was forced to spend months in the hospital, recovering from multiple strokes as a result of his injuries, according to the New York Post. He then sued Del Mar Jiu Jitsu club in San Diego for the injuries and blamed his instructor, Iturralde, for his 'dynamic, aggressive grappling style". Greener, now a mountain climber and a popular motivational speaker, was first awarded $56 million by a San Diego jury in 2023. Rahul Ravipudi, one of Greener's attorneys, said: "[The judgement] cements a critical legal victory not only for our client, but also for injured athletes across California by reaffirming that sports instructors and facilities may be held accountable when they unreasonably increase risks beyond those inherent in the sport." BJJ legend Rener Gracie, who was called as an expert witness in the case, said: "The black belt instructor did a technique that placed his entire body weight on Greener's neck, causing him to instantly fall limp and lose all function of his limbs." It comes after a champion martial artist tragically died after a horrific collapse in the ring. Mohit Sharma, 21, was fighting in the second round of a university wushu tournament on Monday in India. People immediately rushed to provide assistance, and medics were called. Sharma, though, could not be revived after a reported suspected heart attack. According to the Indian Express, he was taken to the on-site medical centre then transported to a district hospital. But the young boxer sadly passed away as he was declared dead on arrival at Kharar Government hospital on Monday evening, it was later confirmed. Meanwhile, a mixed martial arts fighter died days after collapsing during a training session. 4 Greener was forced to spend months in the hospital, recovering from multiple strokes as a result of his injuries Credit: Instagram Zach Doran was sparring at his local gym when his heart suddenly stopped. The 18-year-old spent 10 days in a coma before his parents Jason and Tami made the "tough" decision to turn his life support machine off. "He literally fought to his death," his dad, a teacher and American football coach, said. "He was doing a sparring session and during round seven or eight, he just collapsed. "They had thought that he had taken a kick to the chest or a blow to the head, but someone was recording his bouts and it was none of that. "You could tell he was getting tired and just folded over." The "super healthy" teenager, who had been an MMA fighter for two and a half years and was captain of his Varsity American football team, had no underlying health conditions. But his girlfriend Libby Gilmore, 18, believes energy drinks contributed to Zack's "shock" passing. The sportsman reportedly "always had one" before going to the gym or an MMA session, as well as a "pre-workout" - a supplement designed to enhance energy.
