Duran Duran Reunite With Nile Rodgers at Abbey Road Studios

Yahoo04-06-2025
Duran Duran are officially back in the lab with one of their most legendary collaborators.
On Saturday (June 1), the iconic U.K. band teased new material via Instagram, sharing a snapshot from Abbey Road Studios with the caption, 'Working with our good friend Nile at Abbey Road Studios this weekend. Stay tuned…'

Nile Rodgers, who's been behind some of the band's biggest hits, also shared the moment on his socials, writing, 'We had as much fun working yesterday as ever!' The reunion marks the first time Rodgers and Duran Duran have worked together in nearly a decade, following their last collaboration on 2015's Paper Gods, which featured the funk-infused single 'Pressure Off' with Janelle Monáe and cracked the Top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic.
Rodgers' relationship with the band stretches back more than 40 years. He remixed their first Billboard No. 1 single 'The Reflex' in 1984, produced the fan-favorite 'The Wild Boys,' and went on to helm their fourth studio album Notorious (1986). His signature grooves helped shape Duran Duran's post-new wave sound during a critical period of their evolution.
The super-producer later reunited with them for 2004's Astronaut, marking the return of the original five-piece lineup.
The news arrives just days before Duran Duran kick off their European and U.K. tour with Rodgers and CHIC joining as special guests. The tour begins June 3 in Finland and includes major stops in Amsterdam, Rome, Dublin and the U.K., wrapping in early July.
While the band hasn't confirmed whether the Abbey Road sessions are for a new album or standalone release, this marks the first major studio move since their Halloween-themed album Danse Macabre, released in 2023.
Duran Duran have sold over 100 million records worldwide and earned two Grammy Awards. Their latest chart appearance came with Future Past in 2021, which debuted at No. 28 on the Billboard 200. Rodgers, meanwhile, remains one of music's most decorated producers, with credits spanning David Bowie, Madonna, Daft Punk and more.

‘Ninja Gaiden 4' Preview: Sliced, Diced And Ready For Action

Ninjas are dominating 2025, aren't they? We sliced and diced our way through Assassin's Creed Shadows back in March and before August is done, the Shinobi series is set to return with Art of Vengeance. However, later this year the granddaddy of all ninja games is being revived; I'm talking, of course, about Ninja Gaiden 4. It'll be 12 years since the last in Koei Tecmo's action series was released (naturally excluding July's 2D Ninja Gaiden Ragebound as that was made by The Game Kitchen and Dotemu) when it lands on October 21 2025. Longtime developer Team Ninja is also back with Ninja Gaiden 4 and its joined by Platinum Games this time around. It's a partnership that's working. I know that because I've already spent a couple of hours playing the game. Spoiler - it's exactly what you'd want from a contemporary entry in this franchise. My preview began on a cargo train that is hurtling through a tunnel. Series protagonist, Ryu Hayabusa, was only mentioned in passing during my playthrough. Instead, I took up the role of newcomer, Yakumo, a member of the Raven Clan who has been dispatched to infiltrate a secure unit and assassinate a prisoner. Things go awry and he's left unsure of who to trust. The initial chunk of the demo was spent re-learning the game's fundamentals. There's the typical mixture of light and heavy attacks which lead to ultra-violent combos and executions. Then there's Yakumo's supernatural ability to take on a more defensive stance which is slower than the standard action but it comes with the chance of dishing out higher levels of damage. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder All of this was played in Performance mode (which I chose above Quality) and there were no technical issues. The action is relentlessly fast and slick. There's a constant emphasis on forward momentum; you're thrust into bloody bouts consistently as you make your way through each zone. There are opportunities to slow down, however. After you meet a certain character, you're intermittently given the chance to enter a training arena where you can hone your skills. The combat feels deeper and more layered in Ninja Gaiden 4 and so I welcomed these moments to fiddle with the moves and abilities I wanted to use the most, thus defining my own sadistic fighting style. I also spent some time with Trials, an arcade-like mode that lets you replay parts of the story, taking on enemies and bosses to earn points (that'll help you climb a leaderboard) and in-game currency. Back to the story - eventually, that train bursts out of the tunnel and Yakumo is soaked in the light of a bright moon. This is where the preview really wowed me. Looming on the horizon above him is the remnants of a dystopian Tokyo that looks grimy and undeniably pretty in equal measure. Once given the chance to explore it, the visuals beam. Neon lights reflect off of the rain-drenched streets. Blood splatters across the screen as Yakumo flips around between enemies. From the first couple of hours, it's clear that Ninja Gaiden 4 is going to be a visual spectacle with stylish action, as expected. It also lives up to the immensely challenging nature of its predecessors, although the difficulty can be toned down a notch. It'll appease FromSoftware aficionados who are a glutton for punishing games. Meanwhile, those who feel alienated by the toughness of modern action titles like Elden Ring and Dark Souls will find their place in this series.

Cardi B Joins Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé And Rihanna

In about a month, Cardi B will release one of the most highly anticipated sophomore albums in history. Am I the Drama? is scheduled to arrive more than seven years after she broke out in a major way with Invasion of Privacy. The rapper has been pushing tunes from the forthcoming set for years, and her latest, 'Outside,' is still working its way up several Billboard charts. Just before she shares 'Imaginary Players,' the next promotional cut from the full-length, 'Outside' soars at radio — where Cardi is still a favorite — and helps her join an incredibly exclusive club on one specific tally. 'Outside' Jumps to No. 1 'Outside' climbs from No. 3 to No. 1 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart. Cardi earns her ninth career No. 1 on the radio list. As her current focus cut soars, she claims the fifth-most leaders of all time among female musicians. Cardi B Joins Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Doja Cat Rihanna leads the charge among women with 17 No. 1s on the Rhythmic Airplay chart. Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj are tied for second place with 12 each. Doja Cat follows with 11 winners. Cardi B's History on the Rhythmic Airplay Chart Throughout her career, Cardi has sent 36 tunes to the Rhythmic Airplay chart. 21 of them have broken into the top 10. Nearly half have now reached No. 1, and she could collect a milestone tenth in the coming weeks as excitement around Am I the Drama? builds. Cardi B's Many No. 1 Smashes About half of Cardi's No. 1s have spent just a single frame on top. 'I Like It' with Bad Bunny and J Balvin and her breakout smash 'Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)' are tied as her longest-running leaders, with four weeks at the summit apiece. 'Up' managed three stays on the throne, while 'Finesse' with Bruno Mars and 'No Limit' alongside G-Eazy and ASAP Rocky racked up just two turns. 'Outside' could match those latter tunes in about a week when Billboard refreshes its rankings, if it holds. 'Outside' Rises on Multiple Radio Lists While 'Outside' declines on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart and sits in lower positions on several other lists, it is gaining ground on almost every airplay ranking it appears on. Cardi also conquers the Rap Airplay ranking and moves within striking distance of the summit on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay list as 'Outside' rises from No. 3 to No. 2.

Bruno Mars Brings Two Of His Classics Back To The Global Charts

Bruno Mars regularly fills several spaces on Billboard's two global rankings. He has released several tracks in the past year that continue to perform well week after week. When competition lightens up, there's also room for earlier hits — some of which turned him into a household name globally — to return. The celebrated singer-songwriter doubles his total number of wins on the pair of rosters this time around as several of his biggest smashes reappear and join two of his most recent global successes. 'Just the Way You Are' Becomes a Global Hit Again 'Just the Way You Are,' Mars' debut solo hit, returns to both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. this frame. The solo cut reenters the worldwide ranking at No. 159 and finds its way to No. 152 on the list that shows what billions of people all around the planet are listening to, with U.S. consumption completely ignored. 'Locked Out of Heaven' Surges Worldwide Not far behind 'Just the Way You Are' comes 'Locked Out of Heaven,' which fronted his sophomore set Unorthodox Jukebox. The track also surges back onto the same two rankings. 'Locked Out of Heaven' is a bigger win on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., where it breaks back in at No. 164, while it appears more than 10 spaces lower on the Billboard Global 200, landing at No. 176. While 'Just the Way You Are' is the bigger hit between the two comebacks, 'Locked Out of Heaven' has earned higher peaks and longer stays on both rankings. Bruno Mars Claims Four Global Smashes Mars currently claims two top 10 hits on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. with tracks nearing their first year on the ranking. 'Die With a Smile,' his collaboration with Lady Gaga, jumps from No. 9 to No. 6 as it approaches 52 frames on the tally – a milestone it will almost certainly make it to in a few days. His collaboration with Blackpink star Rosé, 'Apt.,' dips to ninth place. The same tracks also appear on the Billboard Global 200, though only one finds space inside the top tier. 'Die With a Smile' holds at No. 9, while 'Apt.' remains just one spot below the top 10.
