Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd reveals sweet way her children honor the late actress on Star Wars Day
Billie Lourd, the only child of Carrie Fisher, revealed her family's loving way of remembering her late mother for Star Wars Day on Sunday.
The holiday, which takes place on May 4 — as in, 'May the 4th be with you' — was a perfect time for the 32-year-old American Horror Story actress and her two children to watch her mother's classic Star Wars films.
She posted a cute photo of her son Kingston Fisher, four, and her daughter Jackson Joanne, two, as they watched their grandmother performing in 1983's Return Of The Jedi, which concluded George Lucas' original Star Wars trilogy.
'Ⓜ️🅰️🌱 ✝️♓️📧 4️⃣✝️♓️,' Billie captioned her post using emojis.
The Booksmart actress — who has had a contentious relationship with her late mother's siblings — shares her two children with her husband Austen Rydell, whom she tied the knot with in 2022 after dating on and off since 2016.
The moving family display comes eight years after her mother's tragic death at 60 years old just days after Christmas in 2016.
Fisher had suffered a medical emergency four days earlier while on a flight from London to Los Angeles.
After those seated near her noticed that she didn't appear to be breathing, a passenger performed CPR on Fisher until paramedics could attend to her once the plane had landed, and she was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where she later died.
An autopsy report noted that she died of cardiac arrest, and cited sleep apnea and plaque in her arteries as contributing factors, but what instigated her death couldn't be fully determined.
Toxicology tests also indicated that she had traces of several drugs in her system, including heroin and MDMA, but when she had taken the drugs and whether they contributed to her death couldn't be determined.
Fisher had previously written about her struggles with addiction in her 2008 memoir Wishful Drinking, which was based on her one-woman stage show of the same name.
In a statement to People after the coroner's report was released, Billie said that her mother had 'battled drug addiction and mental illness her entire life' and 'ultimately died of it.'
'She was purposefully open in all of her work about the social stigmas surrounding these diseases,' she added.
Following Fisher's stint in the original Star Wars trilogy, she became a popular supporting actress in films like Hannah And Her Sisters (1986) and When Harry Met Sally... (1989), and she also turned to writing, both with novels and nonfiction.
She went on to adapt her novel Postcards From The Edge into the acclaimed film Postcards From The Edge, which starred Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine.
The abundant wit that helped make Fisher a popular novelist also allowed her to become an in-demand script doctor who would punch up preexisting screenplays, included work on Steven Spielberg's Hook, Sister Act and The Wedding Singer, though she wasn't credited for any of those films.
Carrie's daughter Billie was born into a Hollywood dynasty, as her maternal grandmother was Singin' In The Rain star Debbie Reynolds, who died of a stroke just one day after Carrie's death.
Her first role was a small part in 2015's series revival Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which also brought her mother back into the series.
Both returned for 2017's The Last Jedi, and Billie continued on with the final film in the series, 2019's The Rise Of Skywalker, in which she both reprised her part as Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix and also portrayed a young version of her mother's character, Princess Leia, which was augmented with computer-generated effects.
Billie has also appeared in Booksmart, Ticket To Paradise and The Last Showgirl, while her television work has included major parts of Ryan Murphy's shows Scream Queens and multiple seasons of American Horror Story.

The 30 best space movies
Director: Nicholas Meyer Cast: William Shatner, Ricardo Montalbán, Leonard Nimoy The eye-popping space battles and serene galactic imagery. The mind-controlling space eels. The introduction of the Kobayashi Maru test. The tear-soaked space funeral. The goddamn mind-controlling space eels. The Wrath of Khan stands tall above all the USS Enterprise's cinematic adventures for many reasons, but chief among them is its deference to space itself – the franchise's spiritual home. The reboot might have more advanced ships and shinier effects, but this was the moment Trek matched Star Wars in terms of pure awe in the abyss.

George Clooney debuts huge makeover after revealing wife Amal's complaint
George Clooney is back to being a silver fox, and we have Amal Clooney to thank due to her reaction to his dyed brown hair. The Ocean's Eleven actor, 64, is well known for his grey hair, which he has had since his twenties, but he reached for the dye bottle during his recent stage role in Broadway's Good Night, and Good Luck. Hitting the red carpet at the Tony Awards, Clooney had ditched the brown locks and was back to his usual self, posing alongside Amal, 47, in a suave black tuxedo. Amal looked glamorous as ever in an off-shoulder white beaded dress, with her own brunette tresses curled and pulled to the side. Speaking to People on the red carpet, Clooney revealed how happy Amal was that he had cut his hair – and therefore the brown dye out – after finding his drastic look 'funny.' 'Oh man, my wife [Amal] was the happiest person when I came home after the play today and I'd cut all the hair off,' he revealed. 'Because, you know, I looked like a drug dealer with that bad black dye job.' Last week, during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, he covered his hair with a cap while revealing how his wife, whom he wed in 2014, felt about it. 'She thinks it's funny. She'll be glad when it's gone,' he told host Meyers. In an interview with CBS Mornings in April, he confided that he himself had found it a struggle to adapt to. 'I'm not used to it. You never get used to it,' he said. Listen, I started getting gray when I was 25, so I've been gray most of my life. So it's not my favorite look, and my wife, she thinks it's funny.' Amal isn't the only one who has been left giggling over George's transformation, as he told Gayle King about twins Alexander and Ella's reaction. 'They laugh at it because, honestly, nothing makes you look older than being 63 and dying your hair,' he said. More Trending It comes weeks after George made a shock marriage confession, insisting he and Amal have never had an argument. 'Amal and I are having a really great time in life,' he told the host. 'Our kids are seven, about to be eight, which is a pretty great age. They're really curious and funny,' he told Gayle during an interview. 'Every parent thinks their kids are great – our kids are funny, and make us laugh. 'We were here with you once before, and I remember we said we'd never had an argument. We still haven't. We're trying to find something to fight about!' Got a story?
